Severe Cold wrapped the child's corpse in oilcloth and carried it to the car, while Ziya held up an umbrella. As they stepped into the villa, a chilling atmosphere enveloped them. Ziya instinctively scanned the surroundings, while Severe Cold held the boy's corpse, unsure where to place it. 0

"Let's just put it here for now," Ziya said, setting the umbrella aside. Faced with the body, Ziya struggled to muster the courage to confront the situation; this was the first time in their life witnessing a corpse up close. 0

Severe Cold gently laid the body on the carpet in the living room, shaking off the silt that clung to him. The foul odor instantly filled every corner of the room. 0

The boy's face was a deathly gray, tinged with black and white. His closed eyes resembled those of someone peacefully asleep, with a small curl of hair falling over his forehead. His forehead was square, his nose slightly prominent, and his lips were well-defined. Had he not met with such a tragic fate, he would have undoubtedly grown into a strikingly handsome young man. 0

What they hadn’t anticipated was that in the silt of the swamp, devoid of oxygen and scavengers, a sealed environment had formed that preserved the boy's body remarkably well—so well that it appeared as if he had just passed away. 0

"We should bury him—next to his parents," Severe Cold suggested, looking at the small life that had been trapped in silt for several years. It pained him to see the boy’s outstretched arms frozen in a desperate grasp. 0

"This child is so pitiful; look at him—he seems like he wanted to hold onto something..." Ziya leaned on Severe Cold's shoulder, unable to hold back her tears. 0

"Alright... stop crying. We've helped him escape from that stinking hell. Just tell me what to do next," Severe Cold gently pushed Ziya away and added, "You know, it seems you really like me. Look at my shoulder—it's filthy! You just leaned on me without a care. How about you marry me once this is all over?" 0

Ziya hadn’t realized how dirty Severe Cold truly was until he mentioned it. Regardless of whether he was joking or trying to be humorous, she already had an idea in mind and pretended not to hear his words. 0

"You need to take a shower and clean yourself up. We’ll take care of him later," Ziya said with a slight frown, wrinkling her nose against the pungent smell from Severe Cold and the boy's corpse. Seeing that the heavy rain outside showed no signs of stopping, she reluctantly picked up the umbrella again and stepped outside to retrieve clothes from the car for Severe Cold to change into later. 0

Following Ziya's instructions, Severe Cold cleaned himself of mud and silt before washing away the dirt from the child with warm water. He found clothes from the baby room to dress him in and placed him gently on the bed. Ziya solemnly wound up all the toys in the bedroom; at that moment, she resembled a loving mother ensuring her child could sleep peacefully by arranging everything perfectly. 0

Although Severe Cold had managed to wash off most of the mud, his clothes were still soaked. Watching Ziya methodically prepare everything left him confused about her intentions. He stepped out in search of another empty room to change out of his wet clothes. As he exited into the hallway and turned into another vacant room, he closed the door behind him and had just begun undressing when he caught a glimpse of someone darting past at the doorway before disappearing from sight. 0

Severe Cold hurriedly grabbed a coat and threw it on, rushing out with his heels clattering against the floor. He followed the sound of the door to the corridor, but in the blink of an eye, he vanished from sight. Frustrated, Severe Cold looked around, and just then, the corridor door slammed shut with a loud bang. 0

Startled, Severe Cold rushed to pound on the iron door, but it wouldn’t budge. At that moment, he stood on the only vacant platform of the villa, separated from Ziya by the closed iron door. 0

“Ziya… open the door,” Severe Cold shouted at the iron door. Unaware of Ziya's current situation, his mind was in turmoil when a petite figure appeared at one corner of the platform. 0

“Brother…” 0

Hearing the voice, Severe Cold paused and whispered, “Sister…” As he spoke, he found himself instinctively moving toward that figure. However, when he got closer, there was no one there; instead, a drooping Mao Bamboo hung over the platform. A cold wind swept through, sending a shiver down Severe Cold's spine and jolting him back to thoughts of Ziya. 0

Outside in the corridor, Severe Cold continued to bang on the iron door while inside, Ziya remained oblivious. She thought Severe Cold was just changing clothes in another room. Having tidied up all the toys in the Baby Room and glancing at the time, she decided it was time to leave. 0

Ziya stood up and looked around the room once more. The child lay quietly in bed, wrapped snugly in a clean blanket. The toys were all busy with their own activities: a toy train chugged along its circular track making clattering sounds, a little brown bear pounded its chest rhythmically, and Transformers toys moved back and forth across the table. 0

The Cuckoo clock chimed incessantly while a monkey made silly faces as it reached out with one paw as if trying to grab the moon reflected in water. The light leading from the first floor to the second floor shone brightly, illuminating every corner of the eerily silent villa; everything seemed calm and peaceful yet carried an unsettling atmosphere. 0

As Ziya thought about Severe Cold and prepared to exit the Baby Room, within a second, the light from the first floor to the second began to flicker as if cursed, resembling a dying patient letting out its final cries. A massive dark shadow surged from the staircase on the first floor, extinguishing every light in its path… 0

A chilling wind swept in with the arrival of this shadow, coming unexpectedly fast. The Baby Room instantly transformed into a freezing chamber. Ziya felt an intense cold enveloping her; it was as if frost had settled over her entire body, rendering her immobile. A dark figure loomed between the corridor and Baby Room; Ziya could only move her eyes to watch as that shadow concealed a grotesque and blurred face. 0

The monstrous face opened its cavernous mouth wide as if intending to swallow Ziya whole. Its hollow eye sockets and claw-like fingers lunged toward her. In an instant, Ziya felt something pass through her body; fear gripped her heart as pain flared in her chest. Darkness engulfed the Baby Room; even the toys seemed to freeze in place. Ziya trembled uncontrollably, unable to find words to describe her terror. 0

Seconds passed like an eternity as ghostly wails echoed in Ziya's ears: I will not let you go… Terrified by this voice, Ziya collapsed onto the floor as it gradually faded away, taking with it a sense of resentment and an inexplicable chill that filled the air. 0

The Baby Room was once again filled with light. Ziya sat on the ground in a daze, still processing what had just happened. The woman in black seemed unaffected by their help, her resentment lingering in the air. What did this woman truly want? 0
