Ye Chenfeng was heading to University Road to perform a soul transcending ritual. 0

Qin Keqing and the others insisted on accompanying him, eager to witness how he managed to transcend souls. 0

"Transcending is quite simple. You just need to sincerely bow, recite the Transcendence Spell, touch their hearts, cleanse the impurities, and then send them off," he explained. 0

"Is it really that simple?" 0

Ye Chenfeng walked ahead with his head held high. "Of course." 0

"But we still want to see how it's done." 0

"If you want to see, you have to promise me one thing." 0

The group asked in unison, "What is it?" 0

Ye Chenfeng stopped and said seriously, "No matter what you see or hear, don't make a sound. If you disturb the souls that are being transcended, it will lead to serious trouble." 0

"Pfft, I thought it was something important. You just want us to act like blind and deaf people? That's no problem at all!" Qin Keqing remarked, downing the remaining beer without showing any signs of intoxication. 0

"Then let's go!" 0

University Road was as desolate as ever; early in the evening, there were no pedestrians on the street. The few buses that passed by were in a hurry, not stopping for anyone, and the bus stop was completely deserted. Rumors of ghosts haunting University Road had been circulating for some time now. 0

Residents living on University Road preferred to stay indoors watching television rather than risk venturing out at this hour. 0

When Ye Chenfeng and his companions arrived, the sky was darkening, and the streetlights flickered dimly. Strange sounds echoed from unknown corners, resembling the wails of hellish spirits. A chilling breeze swept past their necks, making them feel an eerie chill in the air. 0

Qin Keqing huddled closer and whispered, "Ye Chenfeng, are there really ghosts here?" 0

Ye Chenfeng pulled out two dry leaves from somewhere; he didn’t specify what kind they were but took out a transparent bottle as well. The others watched as he poured a small amount onto his fingertip and then smeared it onto the dry leaves. 0

"Here, press these against your eyelids for a few seconds and then gently peel them off." 0

Su Bei looked puzzled. "What is going on?" 0

"You wanted to see a ghost, right? Just press these two thousand-year-old willow leaves along with some cow's tears on your eyelids for a few seconds, and you'll see what you want to see." 0

Seeing that Ye Chenfeng didn't seem to be joking, the group exchanged glances. 0

In their imagination, ghosts were all young and beautiful. Even the men were charming and dashing. 0

They weren't sure if ghosts really looked like that, but one by one, they pressed the leaves against their eyelids for a few seconds. When they opened their eyes again, the scene before them was completely different from the world they had just seen. 0

They were all startled and almost simultaneously hid behind Ye Chenfeng, trembling as they asked, "Did the ghost come out?" 0

"With you all acting like this, how am I supposed to work?" Ye Chenfeng stepped aside, exposing them. He held a stack of Joss Paper and instructed them to find a table about the size of a tea table; he needed it to set up an altar to guide the souls. 0

If there were any lingering spirits unwilling to leave, he would have to summon Yin Chai to collect them. 0

Don't be surprised at how Ye Chenfeng learned this skill; he could summon Yin Chai now. 0

He had already mastered The Ghost-Quaking Scripture. Familiar with its contents, he had learned quite a bit, including how to summon Yin Chai. 0

In fact, the management in the underworld was quite similar to that in the mortal realm. 0

Ye Chenfeng knew that every area had its own version of Black and White Impermanence. Just like local officials, each managed their own jurisdiction; if something happened in someone's area, they had to step forward. 0

University Road had gathered many wandering souls. 0

Initially, Xiong Biao was reluctant to die and caused trouble out of resentment and obsession, seeking revenge on those who had harmed him and inadvertently hurting many innocent people in the process. 0

Now Xiong Biao had come to a great realization and was willing to leave this space meant for humans. 0

It all depended on whether Ye Chenfeng could successfully guide him to reincarnate as a human after the ritual. If not, he would still have to trouble Yin Chai to collect his soul. 0

At Ye Chenfeng's urging, the group began to busy themselves. Surprisingly, once they got busy, nothing seemed too difficult. The fear they had felt earlier was temporarily forgotten as they focused on preparing the altar and gathering everything needed for the ritual. 0

“Do you still chant scriptures?” Ye Chenfeng asked. 0

Shen Binghan pulled out a stack of books, various scriptures that he couldn’t understand at all. 0

Ye Chenfeng smiled silently, taking the scriptures handed to him by Shen Binghan and sitting cross-legged. 0

“%^$^%^&**¥%@$” 0

No one understood what he was mumbling about. 0

Qin Keqing stretched his neck, looking at the others. “Did you understand any of that?” 0

Su Bei shook his head. “Not a clue. It’s a language of the world; only aliens could translate it.” 0

Ye Chenfeng instructed the group to burn Joss Paper. 0

Stacks of Joss Paper ignited, filling the air with a pungent smell mixed with candle wax. Qin Keqing whispered, “Aren’t we polluting the air? What if we get caught and labeled as crazy?” 0

“Keep quiet and look around,” Ye Chenfeng replied. 0

Taking his words to heart, they focused on their surroundings. 0

All around them, twinkling lights floated up, some as large as small stars, others as tiny as Mars. 0

Ye Chenfeng’s chanting resonated with a sense of solemnity and divinity. 0

The atmosphere grew eerily silent. Qin Keqing and the others dared not breathe, their gazes fixed on the ascending souls. 0

They were all engrossed in the scene unfolding before them, oblivious to someone quietly approaching from across the street. 0

This person clenched their fist, radiating anger as they drew closer. 0

As the last twinkling light vanished into the void, darkness enveloped them once more. 0

The dim streetlight remained as dim as ever, casting shadows around a figure standing in a circle of darkness. 0

He was Xiong Biao. 0

Ye Chenfeng saw him, Qin Keqing saw him, and everyone else saw him too. 0

"Xiong Biao, what unfulfilled wishes do you still have?" 0

"I want a car, I want money. You know, even in the Underworld, you need money to pass through the levels. With someone like me, I might end up in the Eighteen Layers of Hell. There are many kinds of tortures there, so I need money—lots of it—to smooth things over and get a chance at reincarnation." 0

As Xiong Biao spoke, Ye Chenfeng furrowed his brow and silently recited a spell. 0

The others noticed his lips moving, but no one could hear the words he muttered. 0

What kind of trick is this? 0

Just as the question popped into his mind, the surroundings suddenly changed. The walls frosted over, and snowflakes fell like goose feathers. 0

Faced with this bizarre scene, the group was unsure whether they were stunned or frozen by the sudden cold. They all stared wide-eyed and gaping mouths, unable to utter a word. 0

Then, a pair of chilling ghostly figures descended from above and appeared before Ye Chenfeng. 0

Summoning his courage, Ye Chenfeng bowed respectfully to the two Yin Chai Grandpas and said, "Thank you for your arrival, esteemed Yin Chai Lords. I am a disciple of the Deep Mountain Old Monk's lineage. In your jurisdiction, there are restless souls who have committed grave errors and cannot be transcended. I hope you two Yin Chai Grandpas can take them away." 0

Black and White Impermanence were as usual; in Ye Chenfeng's eyes, the Underworld's reforms didn't seem to amount to much. At the very least, Black and White Impermanence should change their image! They should at least dress like civil servants from the mortal realm. 0

A suit and tie were essential. 0

Black Wuchang said, "They are those who died unjustly; therefore, they do not fall under our jurisdiction." 0

White Impermanence made a gesture as if counting money and declared, "They must die." 0

"This is about money!" Ye Chenfeng quickly grabbed a handful of Hell Money and tossed it into the fire pit. He also took out a letter of introduction to explain Xiong Biao's situation to them as the Hell Money ignited. 0

With a swift motion, White Impermanence found a stack of brand new Underworld forged bills in his hand. 0

He chuckled and said, "Collecting money to help others avert disaster, these souls are mine to take." 0

Hearing this from White Impermanence, a weight lifted off Ye Chenfeng's heart. 0

Suddenly, with a whoosh, several golden lights flashed as the Soul Lock Chain was pulled out. White Impermanence dragged out several unwilling souls that resisted being guided to the afterlife. They flickered before his eyes and vanished in an instant. 0

As Black and White Impermanence departed, the frost-laden space thawed. 0

Qin Keqing and the others let out a sigh of relief, one of them muttering, "Damn, it's freezing." 0

Ye Chenfeng shook his head with a smile and said, "Stop messing around, hurry up and clean this up." 0

While they busied themselves, they failed to notice a figure not far away who had been watching them intently suddenly turn and leave. This person had arrived with great confidence but left looking utterly dejected and powerless. 0

Having accomplished a significant task, Ye Chenfeng felt tired and naturally wanted to return to rest. 0

The others were still pondering why Ye Chenfeng had opened their eyes but hadn’t seen Black and White Impermanence. 0

Only Ye Chenfeng knew that Black and White Impermanence were not easily seen unless one possessed a special mission or was on the verge of death. 0

As they departed, Black and White Impermanence had warned him that in the future, when summoning them, he should ensure no extraneous people were present. If he mistakenly captured the wrong soul, it would be a serious matter; Yama would not take it lightly. Their greed for the money of the Yin-Yang Masters could also be exposed. 0

What one fears often comes to pass. 0

Ye Chenfeng initially thought that this time he had successfully guided the souls without any issues. However, the next day he heard Qin Keqing mention something troubling: Shi Zhenxiang's brother, Shi Zhenming, had gone to University Road and returned home only to fall into a deep sleep from which he could not awaken. 0

His family said that Shi Zhenming had come back looking quite terrifying. 0

He appeared lost and dazed, his eyes vacant and his face ashen. 0

What could Shi Zhenming possibly want at University Road? Especially since Ye Chenfeng learned that Shi Zhenming had gone there precisely at the moment he was guiding the souls; it made him feel even more unsettled. 0

He was about to go take a look when he received a call saying that Shi Zhenming had run out alone and gotten into an accident with a truck. 0

Ye Chenfeng was in a panic and rushed to Ye Chenfeng's location, where he saw someone standing behind him, covered in blood—it was Shi Zhenming. 0

"What, is Shi Zhenming here to take revenge on me?" 0

Qin Keqing couldn't believe it. Shi Zhenming had no connection to her anymore; why would he come looking for revenge? 0

"It's because of his sister, Shi Zhenxiang." 0

"Oh no, how am I supposed to explain the cause of her death to him?" 0

"Don't worry, I'll perform a ritual for Shi Zhenxiang and let her tell her brother the specifics. Then hopefully, the siblings can move on peacefully." With Ye Chenfeng taking charge, Qin Keqing was more than willing. However, Ye Chenfeng seriously warned her not to play emotional games; life was too fragile for such risks. 0

In the days that followed, Ye Chenfeng continued studying. The love story between Ding Li and him ended after graduation when they built a small family just for the two of them. 0

They went to adopt children from an orphanage, treating them as their own. Ye Chenfeng occasionally helped people and spirits as a side job, but he had a regular job as well. 0

Thanks to the support of readers, this book comes to an end. I am preparing a new one; traditional supernatural themes really don't fit well on this platform. 0
