Wang Ce did not wait for Xu Lei to speak. She stepped forward, her tone laced with a chilling coldness as she said, "That's right, Wang Ce is half of Coral. Although I did not participate in the poisoning plot, I have hated you to the core." 0

At this point in the story, Ye Chenfeng suddenly realized, "Right, isn't Wang Ce Coral's Shan?" 0

Ye Feng nodded and said, "Yes, but Wang Ce indeed did not take part in the plot against Sister Sun." 0

"Then Xu Lei completed the plot against Sister Sun alone to achieve revenge?" 0

Ye Feng did not nod but sighed and said, "You guessed wrong." 0

Ye Chenfeng was confused. After thinking for a moment, he still could not understand. 0

Ye Feng explained, "They harmed each other." 0

"How so?" 0

Ye Feng continued to narrate this strange tale while Ye Chenfeng remained his loyal listener. 0

Long ago, Sister Sun met an Occultist from the Western Regions. 0

The Occultist, seeing her lavish spending, offered to read her fortune for free. However, he did not reveal the results; instead, he taught her a form of dark magic. 0

This dark magic would allow her to linger in the world for a century without immediately departing from it, enabling her to exchange a twisted desire for time on earth. 0

To achieve this dark magic's fundamental principle, one must surrender their own soul. 0

In other words, Sister Sun had already lost her soul when Wang Ce came to her home as a nanny. 0

Of course, she thought that the Occultist was merely playing a little game with her. She did not care about everything he did; to her, they were trivial matters. 0

For instance, her fingernails, a drop of blood, her birth date and time, and a personal item. 0

All these things were given to the Occultist. As for how the Occultist would use them, Sister Sun did not care; as long as it allowed her to exist in the world for another century, that was all that mattered. In Sister Sun's eyes, Xu Lei was still young; she knew best about her own age. 0

Otherwise, one would not easily believe the words of the Occultist and entrust their soul to another. 0

In fact, Sister Sun had already forgotten about this matter until Xu Lei and Wang Ce mentioned it, prompting her to suddenly recall it. 0

Hearing Wang Ce's words, Sister Sun smiled sadly and asked, "So, how do you plan to deal with me?" 0

Wang Ce linked his arm with Xu Lei's and declared, "I love Xu Lei and I love my sister. My sister is Coral, so I curse you to an untimely death." 0

Sister Sun gave a faint smile and replied, "As you wish. However, you must pay a price to achieve your desire." 0

Xu Lei found Sister Sun's words a bit strange and couldn't quite grasp what was happening at that moment. 0

Wang Ce said firmly, "As long as it means you will suffer a terrible fate, I don't care what I have to give up." 0

Sister Sun smiled slightly and nodded, and then a shocking scene unfolded before Xu Lei and Wang Ce. 0

In an instant, Sister Sun transformed like a piece of rapidly decaying wood. A fleeting light flashed in her eyes as her skin aged, her eye sockets deepened, and even her arms—previously well-maintained and enviable—became dry and withered under the astonished gazes of Xu Lei and Wang Ce. 0

Ye Chenfeng felt a chill run down his spine and asked quietly, "What’s happening?" 0

"This is what they call living even in death," came the reply. 0

Ye Chenfeng frowned in deep thought. 0

Ye Feng explained, "Sister Sun has used her empty body to absorb Wang Ce's curse. To curse others, one must offer up their own soul." 0

Ye Chenfeng was stunned. "Does that mean Wang Ce will be in trouble?" 0

"Yes," Ye Feng confirmed. "Wang Ce curses Sister Sun to an untimely death, but he also becomes the next victim of the curse; his soul is claimed by Sister Sun." 0

Ye Feng left, but Ye Chenfeng remained lost in thought about Wang Ce, Coral, Xu Lei, and this bizarre story involving Sister Sun. 0

Sister Sun was dead, yet still alive. 0

Her body had perished, but her soul stirred restlessly, seeking the next person to harbor resentment against. 0

Who would she find? 0

Xu Lei! 0

It was certain. 0

Xu Lei and Wang Ce had finally come together as a bona fide couple, just under a year after Sister Sun's death. 0

Wang Ce's real name was Xiu Xiu. 0

She was as delicate as her name suggested, a twin sister to Coral. After Sister Sun's passing, she returned to her true self. 0

To others, it seemed as if Coral had come back to life. 0

Xiu Xiu concealed the truth about her sister's death at the hands of Sister Sun. Only by doing so could she be with Xu Lei openly, continuing to live in Sister Sun's territory under the guise of caring for Sister Sun's child. 0

Xu Lei was still at work. 0

Xiu Xiu had no complaints about the child. 0

After all, this was her sister's only bloodline. If she didn't treat him well, no one else would. 0

In the blink of an eye, Xu Yan was already five years old and ready to start kindergarten. 0

The kindergarten teacher adored Xu Yan. 0

Xu Yan took after his father, Xu Lei, with a delicate and charming appearance. Anyone who saw him couldn't help but praise his cuteness. 0

In the original rental apartment of Sister Sun, there were quite a few young wives and girls who liked Xu Yan, including female colleagues from Xu Lei's company. 0

Xu Lei occasionally brought his child to the office, and those female colleagues always enjoyed spending time with Xu Yan, buying him snacks and giving him plenty of toys. 0

In fact, half of the toys in Xu Yan's small room were gifts from others. 0

Recently, Xiu Xiu had been feeling increasingly restless. She had always hoped to have a child of her own with Xu Lei; no matter how wonderful Xu Yan was, he was not her own flesh and blood. Unfortunately, despite their efforts over the years, there had been no progress. 0

Moreover, she had recently been plagued by nightmares. 0

In her dreams, Sister Sun would often sneer at her, and she repeatedly dreamt of being choked by Sister Sun, struggling to breathe. 0

Xu Lei noticed that his wife's complexion had worsened lately; she looked sallow and her eyes seemed vacant. 0

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Should we go see a doctor?" he asked. 0

Xiu Xiu smiled faintly and replied, "It's nothing. I just don't dress up, so I naturally look like a yellow-faced woman." 0

"I'm not saying you look like a yellow-faced woman; I'm genuinely concerned that something is wrong with you." 0

Xiu Xiu was a young lady who had married him, yet Xu Lei felt that her complexion appeared dull and lifeless. Moreover, when they were together at night, she always hesitated and refused to engage in intimacy. 0

At first, he thought it might be a sign that Xiu Xiu's period had arrived, but nearly half a month had passed and she still seemed the same. 0

Xu Lei suggested that Xiu Xiu see a doctor. 0

Xiu Xiu went. 0

After various tests, the doctor delivered some bad news: her ovaries were aging prematurely, which meant she would gradually grow older. 0

Why was this happening? 0

Xiu Xiu stood before the mirror, picking up the comb that had once belonged to Sister Sun, brushing her hair slowly. Her mind replayed the doctor's words; she would gradually age within a mere six months. 0

The doctor had told her that her bodily functions indicated it was not due to any illness, but rather a natural physiological response. 0

The nightmare continued. 0

She was trapped in the same nightmare that Sister Sun had experienced before. 0

No one knew what the nightmare was about. Xiu Xiu sought out a street fortune teller and returned with a large bowl of talisman water, sprinkling it throughout every corner of her home. 0

Yet the nightmare persisted, growing more terrifying with each passing night. 0

Xiu Xiu often dreamt of running frantically down a long, dark road that seemed endless, a terror pursuing her from behind that was beyond description. It felt as if invisible claws were reaching out for her— 0

Xiu Xiu's nightmares repeatedly jolted Xu Lei awake. 0

"Want to take a sedative?" 0

The sedatives were hard to come by; Xu Lei had to ask someone to get them for him. 0

After swallowing a sedative, Xiu Xiu felt slightly better. 0

Drowsily, she fell asleep again, hazily seeing Xu Lei get up and quietly tiptoe toward the study. 0

She groggily followed him into the study. 0

Inside, Xu Lei was engaged in an unsavory act in front of his computer. On the screen was a seductive woman posing in various ways; unsatisfied in bed, he resorted to watching the screen for release. 0

Feeling a gaze from behind, Xu Lei hurriedly put on his pants and turned around, only to see the dark emptiness of the room. Behind the study door lay the living room, unlit and shadowy, while the hallway leading to the bedroom was equally dark. 0

The unsettling gaze from behind sent chills down his spine. He quickly shut off the computer and turned off the lights in the study before returning to the bedroom. 0

In the bedroom, Xiu Xiu was sleeping. 0

There were no signs that she had gotten up; her slippers remained in their original place. 0

Xu Lei lay down beside her. 0

Just as he settled in, a hand suddenly clamped down on his wrist. 0

The grip was strong, with fingernails digging into his skin. Xu Lei shivered and turned to get up, switching on the light to find Xiu Xiu in her sleep, holding onto his hand with a frightening expression on her face. 0

"Xiu Xiu, are you okay?" 0

Xiu Xiu had taken a sedative and was still fast asleep. 0

But that earlier action had truly frightened Xu Lei, leaving him drenched in cold sweat. 0

How could someone be asleep and still—he couldn't make sense of it. 0

The next day, Xu Lei woke up early. Out of guilt towards Coral, he redirected all his love for her onto Xiu Xiu. Even though Xiu Xiu repeatedly refused to discuss their marital status, he remained virtuous and did nothing to betray her trust. 0

He prepared breakfast. 0

Xu Lei went to wake Xiu Xiu. 0

When Xiu Xiu got up, her complexion looked even worse. 0

Xu Yan was going to kindergarten. 0

Xu Lei reminded her to check in at the hospital again before taking Xu Yan out. 0

After Xu Lei left with their son, Xiu Xiu stared blankly at the door, lost in thought. 0

The events of last night were still vivid in her mind. She had seen Xu Lei in the study, watched him turn off the lights and return to the bedroom. Fear gripped her, and she clutched his hand tightly. 0

Xiu Xiu had eaten but felt weak as she made her way to the hospital. 0

Recently, several fortune-tellers had set up stalls on the street. 0

One of them, a middle-aged man with a somewhat decent appearance, spoke in a low, muffled voice. Upon seeing Xiu Xiu, he suddenly called out to her, "Sister, have you encountered something strange lately?" 0

Xiu Xiu stopped in her tracks and looked at him. 0

"Not really!" 0

The middle-aged man replied with certainty, "Your forehead is clouded with misfortune, your eyes are hollow, you look listless and weak in your limbs. Is that right?" 0

He was not wrong. 0

Xiu Xiu carefully examined him from head to toe and asked, "What do you mean by something strange?" 0

"There are evil spirits in your home." 0

"Evil spirits?" Xiu Xiu shivered at the thought, recalling Sister Sun and her sister Coral who had died unjustly. She licked her cracked lips and asked, "Are you sure?" 0

"From your features, it certainly seems so. If you believe me, take me to have a look." 0
