A pale face flickered among the disheveled hair, moving unsteadily like a wobbly baby on the verge of falling. The head tilted to one side, straining to lift itself while emitting a series of sharp cracking sounds from its bones. 0

Shen Binghan was also a ghost, but nothing like this! From this, Ye Chenfeng concluded that this was the legendary Evil Spirit. 0

This Evil Spirit's appearance in life was unknown; perhaps it had been quite ugly, which explained its terrifying form in death. 0

Each step she took seemed laborious, her movements unsettling and slow. To Ye Chenfeng, however, it meant danger was drawing closer. "Don't come any closer!" he shouted futilely, but the Evil Spirit continued to lurch toward him. 0

One foot away, two feet away—he could even hear the faint cracking of her bones. 0

Gulp—his nerves made him swallow repeatedly, unsure how many times he had done so. In a moment of panic, Ye Chenfeng instinctively pulled out The Ghost-Quaking Scripture from his arms. The pages flipped open on their own, directly facing the approaching ghost. 0

He dared not look and felt lost about what to do. His mind raced uncontrollably, conjuring images of Sadako from movies, her twisted form crawling at terrifying speed toward her victims, leaving them petrified and dead with horror etched on their faces. 0

Fearful, he shut his eyes and thought: If I’m going to die, then so be it! Come on, Evil Spirit; I’m ready for you today. He mumbled incoherently, “Amitabha, Evil Spirit stop! Taishang Laojun commands you!” 0

Ye Chenfeng truly had no chance to see what happened. Just as he aimed The Ghost-Quaking Scripture at the Evil Spirit, a flash of golden light shot forth like a sword piercing through the air toward the ghost lunging at him. 0

“Ah…” The piercing scream of the ghost hurt Ye Chenfeng’s eardrums. He covered his ears and took a long time to open his eyes again. The Evil Spirit that had crawled out moments before was gone—thank goodness! He sighed in relief and moved slightly, realizing he could still move. Not daring to linger any longer, he hurriedly crawled back through the hole. 0

Before he could reach the opening, he heard Ding Li let out an ear-piercing scream. 0

What was happening? He quickly crawled out from under the bed and dashed straight to where Ding Li was. 0

Ding Li was taking a shower. Accustomed to sleeping naked, she dared not risk it and instead slipped into bed wearing her pajamas. While chatting on her phone, she waited for Ye Chenfeng. 0

But after waiting for a long time, he still did not arrive, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep. 0

In her dreams, she felt something cold and slippery crawling into her bed. At first, she thought it was just a dream. However, the cold and slippery sensation told her that this was not a dream; something really had crawled into her bed. 0

As soon as she opened her eyes, she jumped out of bed, turned on the light, and threw back the covers. To her horror, there was a large snake—a colorful serpent as thick as her arm—slithering across her bed. As she uncovered the blankets, the snake, startled, moved even faster. 0

Recalling the intimate contact she had just had with this cold creature, Ding Li became increasingly frightened, goosebumps rising on her skin as she let out a shriek. 0

Bang—the door burst open, and Ye Chenfeng rushed in, startled. "What happened?" 0

"Snake..." Ding Li was both angry and scared. Trembling uncontrollably, she didn't care about anything else and threw herself into Ye Chenfeng's arms, sobbing. 0

"It's okay, it's okay..." Ye Chenfeng saw that there was no snake on the bed! Could it be that this girl wanted him so badly that she deliberately created a snake scare to lure him in? As she cried in his arms like a delicate flower in the rain, he found her even more enchanting. He leaned down to lick away her tears, thinking that she would be deeply moved by this gesture, leading to something more... 0

But as soon as he made his move, Ding Li jumped back in shock and pushed him away. "What are you doing?" 0

Ye Chenfeng felt his train of thought derail at that moment. He retracted his tongue and calmly said, "Nothing. I was just checking where that snake went." 0

Seeing Ye Chenfeng's earlier expression reminded Ding Li of the snake's long forked tongue. That must have been why she reacted so strongly. She pushed Ye Chenfeng away again and pointed under the bedside table. "It must be over there." 0

Her grandmother's house was located in a dark area shaded by the Purple Bamboo Forest, which had not seen sunlight for years. 0

In the summer heat, anyone who entered this place would feel a chilling coldness. Therefore, nearby neighbors avoided it; few dared to visit. Even if they had business to attend to, they would come in groups. 0

The more people shouted, the braver they felt, which is why some creepy crawlers made their way into the house. 0

Ding Li insisted that a snake was hiding under the bedside table, and Ye Chenfeng wanted to see for himself if there really was a snake, hoping to confirm whether Ding Li was just trying to scare him. After all, he hadn't seen any snakes since arriving at Grandma's House, so he wanted to verify it. 0

He moved the bedside table but found nothing. 0

Crouching down, he looked under the bed. It was a box bed; there was no way a snake could get in there. 0

How strange! He clearly remembered seeing a snake. Ding Li was baffled; he searched every possible spot in the room but couldn't find that snake. 0

Now Ye Chenfeng couldn't help but feel amused. 0

It turned out that Ding Li had genuinely wanted his attention and had deliberately mentioned the snake. Because of this incident, the fear from earlier had completely vanished. He didn’t tell Ding Li about the terrifying scene he had witnessed at the old house, not wanting to disrupt the warm atmosphere they currently shared. 0

In this room, it was just the two of them. As long as Ding Li was willing, he could do whatever he wanted. 0

“What are you doing?” Ding Li noticed a mischievous smile on Ye Chenfeng's face and quickly turned around to lock the door, feeling anxious and unsure of what he intended to do. It felt like a snake had slithered in, only to be replaced by a wolf. 0

“Do you like being called 'baby'?” Ye Chenfeng's grin widened as he tossed the book from his hands onto the bedside table, his gaze fixed on Ding Li. He blew a kiss and said, “Don’t be scared; I’ll be gentle.” 0

“Ah... no!” Ding Li rushed at Ye Chenfeng, knocking him aside before bolting out of the room. 0

“Tch. Not fun,” Ye Chenfeng sighed, pouting as he picked up the book and casually flipped through it. Just as he was trying to make sense of the words, he heard Ding Li scream again. That girl thought I would come to her rescue again? Is she playing with me? I’m not going to entertain her; I don’t have time for her thrilling games. I'm going to take a shower. 0

Ye Chenfeng entered the bathroom, his mind haunted by the terrifying images he had seen in the old house. To drive away these horrifying thoughts, he vigorously rubbed his hair and turned up the temperature of the hot water. 0

The hot water warmed his skin, relaxing both his mind and body. For a moment, he forgot about the terrifying events he had experienced and the unpleasantness from earlier in his room, temporarily ignoring Ding Li's presence as well. 0

Ding Li had screamed because she had seen a shadow darting quickly through the room. Initially thinking it was Ye Chenfeng chasing after her, she crouched in the corner to watch. However, after waiting for a long time without seeing him, she instead noticed a slender shadow swaying and let out a scream as it suddenly dashed into the bathroom. 0

Not seeing Ye Chenfeng come after her, Ding Li sulked and cursed inwardly: "What’s the deal? I’m not ready yet! Besides, there’s no rush; we have plenty of time." With that thought, she decided to ignore him and headed towards Ye Chenfeng's bedroom. 0

Meanwhile, Ye Chenfeng stood in the shower as scalding water cascaded down his body, invigorating every cell within him. The water flowed freely, passing through various channels like an army marching through a camp before cascading down his hairy legs and forming a stream that slid into the drain. 0

Rich bubbles danced in his hair, reflecting a spectrum of colors. Finally, the previous terrifying images faded from his mind as new memories emerged. Ding Li jumped into his thoughts; he wondered what she was doing now. A young girl who loved to play—catching cats was boring. 0

Wouldn't it be better to engage in a real game? 0

After all, one encounter wouldn’t ruin her; at most, it would transform her from a girl into a woman. 0

Ha ha—Ye Chenfeng found himself laughing at the thought, unable to suppress a grin. 0

Facing the mirror, he rinsed the foam from his hair. A casual glance over his shoulder suddenly revealed someone standing behind him. The figure was crookedly positioned, head tilted at an odd angle, its entire form twisted as it stared intently at him. 0

What the hell! Ye Chenfeng panicked as the overhead light flickered ominously, threatening to short circuit. In an instant, darkness enveloped him as the lights went out. He felt a weight settle on his shoulders; an icy chill spread from his shoulders throughout his entire body, leaving him stiff and cold. 0

At that moment, images that were utterly inconsistent with reality flooded his mind. 0

Three children pushed a stroller along the familiar path. One boy complained, "It's all my fault. If I had known, I wouldn't have brought Little Red. Look at her stroller; it's got a flat tire, and we still don't know where we're going to stay tonight." 0

At that moment, in Ye Chenfeng's perception, his grandmother appeared. 0

She walked unsteadily ahead, and upon hearing the children's conversation, she stopped and asked, "Are you lost? The old lady can help." 0

"Really, Grandma?" It was Su Bei who spoke. Why does he look so much like me? Ye Chenfeng wondered silently but couldn't control the situation from unfolding further. 0

"Yes," the grandmother squinted at Su Bei, a terrifying smile creeping across her lips. 0

"Lin Xintao, do you have any money?" Su Bei asked Lin Xintao. 0

Lin Xintao was stout and robust, his face flushed as he wiped away sweat. When Su Bei mentioned money, he pouted and said, "Not much left; I need to buy a new tire for Little Red tomorrow." 0

The grandmother smiled darkly and said, "No need for money." 0

"Don't come near!" At that moment, Ye Chenfeng seemed to understand what was happening. He screamed internally but couldn't control the images flooding his mind. He saw his grandmother leading the three of them into a house, settling them down for a meal, and then entering his bedroom. 0

What’s going on? He saw someone lying on the bed, dressed in the sportswear he usually liked to wear, along with those special sneakers that were a birthday gift from his parents. But the person on the bed lay still as if dead. The grandmother came in, calling him "darling" as she comforted him, saying, "Don't worry; Grandma will help you come back to life." 0

Am I dead? Ye Chenfeng felt a wave of panic wash over him as he widened his eyes and continued to sense what was happening. 0
