"You should be worried about the Feng Family. Let's go," Jiang Chen said with a smile, prompting Yang Er to lead the way.
However, Yang Er hesitated. She had held onto a glimmer of hope regarding Jiang Chen, but now she found it hard to trust him. His actions had made her feel uneasy.
"What's wrong? Aren't you coming with me? Then I'll just take a taxi," Jiang Chen remarked when he noticed Yang Er wasn't moving.
"Are you serious? This isn't a joke. If you cause trouble at the wedding, the Feng Family will really kill you," Yang Er said, her concern growing as she realized Jiang Chen seemed intent on going through with it. She couldn't fathom why he would want to create chaos at the wedding; the consequences would be dire.
Ignoring her, Jiang Chen continued walking ahead.
With no other choice, Yang Er caught up to him and said, "Come with me, but you have to listen to me once we get to the wedding."
She felt it was necessary to keep an eye on Jiang Chen; if he got himself killed trying to show off, she wouldn't be able to forgive herself.
Today, Liu Pingping and Feng Dong's wedding was taking place in a private villa in Ningcheng, owned by the Feng Family. Holding the ceremony there ensured that no one would dare cause a scene.
Yang Er led Jiang Chen not directly to the Feng Family's villa but first to Liu Family Villa. As one of Ningcheng's prominent families, the Liu Family's villa was incredibly luxurious, worth over a hundred million.
A wedding should be a lively occasion, yet the atmosphere at Liu Family Villa was somber. Everyone wore complex expressions as Liu Pingping prepared in her room, looking sorrowful.
Liu Pingping was stunningly beautiful and came from a good family, making her worthy of anyone. However, her high standards made it difficult for most people to catch her eye.
Unexpectedly, the Feng Family had launched an attack, joining forces with martial artists and catching the Liu Family off guard. They demanded that Liu Pingping marry into their family. With no other options, Liu Pingping reluctantly agreed to marry Feng Dong.
Being forced into marriage left the bride feeling despondent.
In the hall of Liu Family Villa, Liu Pingping's parents wore worried expressions as well.
"Sir, Madam, Miss Yang has arrived," the butler announced suddenly.
"Please let her in," Liu Xifang replied without much emotional fluctuation.
After a moment, Yang Er entered with Jiang Chen. Liu Xifang was about to greet them but paused when she saw Jiang Chen beside Yang Er, mistakenly thinking that Yang Er had brought a boyfriend.
"Uncle Liu, Aunt Liu, hello," Yang Er greeted as she approached.
"Xiao E, it's great that you could come back from abroad; Pingping will surely be happy. Is this gentleman your boyfriend?" Liu Xifang asked curiously.
"Huh? Uncle Liu, no! We just met. What's your name?" Yang Er replied awkwardly, realizing she hadn't even asked Jiang Chen for his name.
"I'm Jiang Chen. Hello, Uncle Liu and Aunt Liu," Jiang Chen quickly chimed in.
"Oh, you just met? Xiao E, then you shouldn't have brought him here," Liu Xifang said in surprise without acknowledging Jiang Chen further and turned back to Yang Er.
“Uncle Yang, this kid is quite arrogant, claiming he can solve Pingping's issue!” Yang Er quickly said, turning to Jiang Chen. “Why aren’t you explaining? Didn’t you say you could help?”
“Help us?” Liu Xifang looked at the young Jiang Chen with disbelief. “The Feng Family has a powerful backing now! You’re still so young; how could you possibly assist us? Forget it, I’ll give you a little red envelope, so you can leave quickly!”
