Chapter 458: Human Skin Puppet (Part 21)
I hummed my favorite song, my hands kneading the rich foam. To be honest, I was fine; that was the truth. The scene I witnessed last night still lingered in my mind. If only Qin Jian had arrived sooner, it might have made a difference. But now, that living Plastic Model had long since vanished.
It wasn't that she was swept away by the water; she was simply alive.
The reason I was so certain that this living Plastic Model was connected to the three bizarre cases was based on the high-quality strands of hair from the living Plastic Model. As I pondered this, I suddenly heard a series of soft thuds, as if something was nudging the toilet lid. Startled, I stopped what I was doing and focused intently on the lid.
The thuds came again, rapid and urgent. Just as I slowly approached, there was a sudden silence.
When I first heard those sounds, an image involuntarily popped into my mind: a Slug.
Gao Sheng's Primordial Spirit resided within the Slug. Encountering Gao Sheng felt like stepping into a dream. Strangely enough, the bizarre incidents occurred at Jiang'an Family Bridgehead Hotpot Restaurant, while the Slug appeared at the hotel across from the hotpot place. And then there was that living Plastic Model—this series of events seemed incredibly strange. They appeared unrelated but carried an inexplicable sense of connection. Without thinking, I lifted the toilet lid, and to my shock, I gasped.
A large Slug startled by my action quickly slithered downwards. "You run away; if you do, Ma Grandpa won't care about you anymore." I reached out without hesitation to grab the Slug, but to my surprise, it was slippery all over with some slimy substance. My hand slipped off as it fell back into the water, splashing everywhere and leaving me in a mess.
As I wiped the water off my face, I tried to control the escaping Slug. Glancing back, I saw a bath towel meant for drying off. I yanked it down and tossed it into the water. With this towel, I successfully captured the Slug before it could escape. Meanwhile, outside the door, Qin Jian had no idea how many cigarettes he had smoked and was growing increasingly anxious as he knocked on the door repeatedly.
I wrapped the half-meter-long, flexible giant Slug in the towel and stepped out of the bathroom. Seeing Qin Jian, I tossed him the towel containing the Slug. "Hold this; I'm getting dressed."
Of course, Qin Jian had no idea what it was and thought it was just a towel, so he carelessly tossed it onto the sofa. That careless toss caused chaos as the giant Slug wriggled free, startling Qin Jian who exclaimed in shock and repeatedly asked what it was.
As I got dressed behind the door, I called out to him, "It's a Slug spirit; do you believe me?"
"Damn! Lao Qi, is this what you were so obsessed with finding last night?" Qin Jian's voice carried a hint of anger.
"Just keep an eye on it; stop asking so many questions until I'm dressed."
Perhaps startled by its predicament and trying to escape, the Slug caused Qin Jian to jump around anxiously, cursing under his breath while urging me to hurry up.
I finished dressing and stepped out to find Qin Jian sweating profusely with his hands covered in slimy strands that looked utterly disgusting.
"Pfft... cough cough... are you having fun or what?"
"Get your act together!" Qin Jian rushed into the bathroom like he was fleeing from something terrible and turned on the faucet vigorously to wash his hands as if he wanted to scrub off a layer of skin just to feel clean again.
According to what I know about common knowledge, salt is the natural enemy of slugs.
The slug slowly crawled toward the door, and I crouched down to block its path. Its tentacles twitched slightly, and it began to move toward the window instead.
Are you scared? I'm not really afraid; I just find it disgusting.
Soft, cold, and fleshy, this creature was a giant slug, at least ten or twenty times larger than an ordinary one, right before my eyes. This isn't a movie or an exaggeration; it must be half a meter long.
Seeing it trying to crawl away, I hurriedly wrapped the slug in a bath towel. "Gao Sheng, if your Primordial Spirit is here, will using salt harm you?" Was I being foolish asking that? If Gao Sheng could talk, wouldn't he figure that out himself?
Qin Jian finally finished washing up and came out, vigorously drying his hands with a towel. He said to me, "With something this big, if you call the news hotline, reporters will come. You'll be more famous than any celebrity in no time."
"Stop with the sarcasm; this isn't an ordinary slug. Just wait and see."
"Enough about the slug. What happened last night? You cut off the Branching Stream; such a big deal can't possibly be related to this strange mutated slug, can it?"
"No, it's about... sigh, I don't even know how to explain this to you. Have you ever seen a living plastic model that can walk and express various emotions while also mimicking human appearances?" Seeing Qin Jian's skeptical expression, I pointed at him. "See? You won't believe me because you've never seen it. How am I supposed to convince you?"
Qin Jian rested his chin on his hand, his striking eyes fixed sharply on me. His expression was stern, eyebrows knitted together, as he seemed half-convinced by my words.
Just then, Ling Juan pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing us staring at each other in silence like wooden dolls, she stood between us and waved her fingers, asking, "What are you two doing?"
I glanced at Ling Juan and whispered, "Look down at your feet."
Ling Juan and Qin Jian both looked down. Goodness! Her foot was right next to the giant slug. The girl let out a scream that pierced the air and jumped up with incredible agility. She resembled a nimble monkey—specifically a female monkey clinging to a male's neck—her legs wrapped tightly around my waist like a spider.
Especially her most voluptuous parts pressed against me without any distance between us. The soft, quivering sensation made my heart race. And with Qin Jian around too! If it had been last night when she did this, who knows what would have happened.
"Juanzi, get down from me; this is really uncomfortable." My face was already flushed red from embarrassment as Qin Jian wore a mischievous grin; I knew things couldn't end well.
"No! Please get rid of this thing!" Ling Juan pleaded pitifully with Qin Jian.
Qin Jian was also afraid of the creature; he stared wide-eyed and flustered, unsure of what to do. Finally, Monet angrily shouted, "Qin! If you're holding her tight like that, you can't move! Put her down and deal with this thing!"
"Get down," I commanded Ling Juan.
Ling Juan refused to come down and pleaded with Qin Jian, "Qin, could you move that thing away? I can't see it."
Qin Jian hesitantly tried to nudge the Slug, which stirred slightly and began to crawl lazily. Its direction was problematic; I had to stop it, which meant I had to abandon Ling Juan.
I felt guilty for leaving Ling Juan behind, but I really had no choice. I dropped her onto the ground and said to Qin Jian, "Go get some salt, quickly." Then I realized that using salt would turn the Slug into a puddle of water, which would definitely mean Gao Sheng's death.
Ling Juan, lying on the ground, looked utterly wronged and seemed on the verge of tears, refusing to get up.
If I didn't get up, who knew what would happen when that thing crawled over? She was so frightened that she scrambled to her feet, wishing she could sprout wings and fly away.
