Chapter 448: Human Skin Puppet (Part Eleven)
When their siblings first heard this, they were even less willing, sneering coldly as they brought their children and called their husbands, swaggering away under the furious gaze of Thank you, Master.
Damn, I, Ma Qi, despised those who bullied the weak and feared the strong the most.
I let out a cold laugh and said to them, "You can leave, but don't regret it later."
"What do you want to do?"
I plucked a talisman from my fingers and chanted an incantation. A Paper Man began to dance gracefully, illuminated by the light of the bonfire. The Paper Man's magical movements stunned everyone who wanted to leave, their legs seemingly frozen in place as they stared blankly at the Paper Man.
I turned to Ling Juan and said, "Whoever touched you earlier, the Paper Man will fly in front of them. You follow behind the Paper Man to see."
Aside from Qin Jian, Thank you, Master, Mother Xie, Ling Juan, and me, everyone else was immobilized by my Soul Binding Talisman, temporarily losing consciousness and awareness. In just a few seconds, Ling Juan would be able to find out who had touched her.
At that moment, Thank you, Master's Old Mother spoke up. "Xie Mu, your four friends should rest now. There are two rooms in the house; just enough for two in each."
Thank you, Master replied, "Mother, there are three of them."
Mother Xie insisted, "Look, there are clearly four people; now there are five..."
Guided by the Paper Man, Ling Juan walked straight up to Thank you Master's sister Xie Meili. Beside Xie Meili was her Beloved Son.
"Ling Juan, what do you think we should do about him?"
Seeing that I was serious, Thank you Master felt pity and added on behalf of his sister after so many years without filial piety. "Seven, can we settle this privately? This brat at least calls me Uncle. Can you and Juanzi be magnanimous and let him go this time? Consider it a favor I owe you; I will definitely repay it in the future."
With Thank you Master saying this, I found it hard to refuse. I turned my gaze toward Ling Juan.
Ling Juan bit her lip. "Forget it; we’re leaving anyway. Let’s just drop this..." As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes again. I felt particularly heartbroken and somehow thought of Mi—she too had been harassed by Uncle Gu.
"Thank you, Master" expressed his gratitude repeatedly to Juanzi and then asked me to let them go.
I replied, "There's no need for me to release you; this Soul Binding Talisman will automatically break the spell." As I spoke, "Thank you, Master" and his siblings acted as if nothing had happened, leaving casually while chatting. Soon, everyone in the yard dispersed.
Only "Thank you, Master" and his Silly Brother remained with us.
Mother Xie went inside with Silly Brother, while Qin Jian, "Thank you, Master," and Juanzi followed suit.
We began discussing the housing arrangements.
"Thank you, Master" would share a room with his Silly Brother, Mother Xie would have her own room, and Ling Juan was reluctant to share with anyone. In the end, she insisted on having a room to herself, leaving Qin Jian and me to share one.
To be honest, sharing a room with Qin Jian was quite uncomfortable.
Two guys—sigh! It was frustrating.
Unexpectedly, after Ling Juan entered her room, she came out just seconds later, refusing to go back in. She claimed there were mice and cockroaches inside, and the roof looked dark as if something was crawling around.
Her face turned pale with fear.
Qin Jian was looking for an excuse to push me out when Ling Juan's situation presented itself. He seized the opportunity: "Lao Qi, go keep Juanzi company. Just know your limits and don't mess up."
You’ve got to be kidding!
I quietly threatened Qin Jian: "I'm a strong man here, starving for attention. Are you telling me that when I see a delicious treat, I can't even take a bite?"
Qin Jian smirked and said, "Then I'll prepare something excellent for you. Want to give it a try?"
"Viagra?"
"Die already!" Qin Jian cursed, revealing just a hint of the handcuffs in his bag, then shot me a look that seemed to ask if I wanted to try my luck.
I waved him off, genuinely hesitant to engage, and turned to Ling Juan. "How about you sleep with Qin for a night?"
Upon hearing this, Ling Juan's face flushed crimson, and she dashed out in a hurry.
Qin Jian swung a fist at me, but I dodged and took off after Juanzi.
Juanzi was running recklessly; she should know better than to wander around in the countryside. Especially in this area known for its Dead Zone. I rushed out of the house and lost sight of Ling Juan. Anxious and without time to inform Qin Jian, I ran off alone in pursuit.
Juanzi was surprisingly fast; in the blink of an eye, she had vanished. I chased her for quite a distance but still couldn't find her. The surroundings were pitch black, making me suspect there might be monsters lurking about. Honestly, I should have called out to Thank You, Master; he was familiar with the terrain here and wouldn’t get lost.
As I stumbled along searching for Juanzi, strange guttural sounds echoed around me, sending chills down my spine. I quickly halted in my tracks. Could I activate Demon Eyes to see what kind of creature was making that noise? The thought crossed my mind, and I activated Demon Eyes.
Whoa!
Before me unfolded a lively scene: countless children were singing and dancing around a bonfire, with the aroma of roasted lamb wafting through the air. I frowned; something felt off. When I hadn’t activated Demon Eyes, everything had been dark, but now it was clear that I had stumbled into the Dead Zone.
Panicking, I quickly deactivated Demon Eyes, and everything before me vanished. Just then, a swift figure darted past, seemingly disappearing into the woods. My heart tightened as I hurriedly took off after it.
Woof woof—
As I approached the forest, a fierce barking startled me awake.
I focused my gaze and saw a pair of green glowing eyes rushing toward me from a dark shadow. Damn! Was that a Tibetan Mastiff? Baymax had mentioned that this Dead Zone was guarded by a High Monk who raised an enormous black Tibetan Mastiff. When he told me this, he had been interrupted mid-sentence, so I hadn’t caught all the details. But if Baymax hadn’t seen it yet, then surely anyone who got too close to the forest would trigger the Tibetan Mastiff's wrath!
Oh my God! If that Tibetan Mastiff attacked me, it would be no joke. Time was of the essence; without confirming whether it was indeed a Tibetan Mastiff or not, I turned and ran. As I sprinted away, I collided with a wall.
This wall felt strange; it had warmth to it. As I picked myself up from the ground, a flickering butter lamp danced before my eyes.
I struggled to open my eyes and saw an incredibly aged face, along with Ling Juan, Qin Jian, and the words "Thank you, Master." The aged face belonged to Mother Xie.
"Qi, what's wrong with you?"
"I..." I looked at Ling Juan, who seemed perfectly fine and hadn't run away. Then I glanced at Qin Jian, whose expression was complex as he gazed at me, as if questioning what I was doing. Thank you, Master also looked at me with confusion. It felt as if I was the only one performing in this scene. I opened my mouth and said to Ling Juan, "Just now, there were mice and cockroaches in your room, and something crawling around scared me, so I ran into our room..."
Qin Jian replied, "This is Juanzi's room. You were distracted just now and didn't hear what I said?"
"What did you say?"
"I told Juanzi that she was scared, and you should stay here with her..."
"And what else?"
