Chapter 81: Illusion Lost (Part Two)
I looked around at the walls adorned with bright red wedding characters, my mind still in a daze, yet I was immensely enjoying the scene before me. Marrying Mi, giving her a title, officially bringing her into my embrace as my wife—this was a thought that had long existed in my mind and was now coming to fruition.
I was captivated by the moment and silently accepted everything as I walked hand in hand with Mi toward the so-called Wedding Chamber.
Dressed in a brand new bridal gown, Mi looked enchanting, like a fairy descended from the heavens. I wanted nothing more than to spend the night with her. Unable to contain myself, I swept her up in my arms and strode toward the bedroom.
Mi was as gentle as a lovely kitten, wrapping her arms around my neck, her eyes filled with blissful love. At that moment, I felt so happy that I completely forgot all my worries and everything unrelated to me; all I could see was Mi, Mi.
The New House was decorated to my liking, filled with a festive atmosphere. The only thing that struck me as odd was that it was just the two of us at the entire wedding venue.
Mi sensed my thoughts and leaned close to whisper in my ear, "Isn't this what you wanted? Just the two of us in the whole world, without anyone else disturbing our happy moment."
She was right; this was indeed what I wanted. Long ago, I had told her that if we were together in the future, we wouldn't need an emcee or any elaborate ceremonies—just like now, our marriage would be our own affair.
We sat embraced in the opulent New House on an exaggeratedly large wedding bed covered with a bright red satin quilt, surrounded by Red Date Peanuts. Had Mi prepared all of this? A fleeting thought crossed my mind about Mi no longer being here, yet I cherished this scene before me and tried hard to forget those unpleasant memories.
I grabbed Mi's hand; it felt cold. Concerned, I frowned and asked, "Are you cold? Your breath felt chilly just now."
Mi playfully smiled and softly replied, "I'm cold because I want to snuggle under the covers with you to warm up." With that, she pushed me gently while quickly shedding her clothes. In no time at all, she was left wearing only a vibrant red belly band. Her pale arms wrapped around me as she eagerly burrowed into my embrace, tugging at my clothes in an attempt to remove them. At that moment, I remained unfazed; my heart steady and face unflushed. Swiftly pulling out a talisman, I coldly remarked, "Your Grandpa isn't too foolish after all. Here, let me show you the power of the Demonic Needle..."
With a swift motion—the Demonic Needle pierced Mi's Yintang without hesitation. In an instant, her face turned pale as she screamed in horror; not only did her complexion deteriorate but even her brand new bridal attire began to smoke.
"You... are so ruthless... I am Mi... you scared me..."
"My Mi is not like you. She is currently stationed at Boundary Huai Street. You and she are from two different worlds. I have never been one to kill the innocent without cause, yet you dare to impersonate my woman's name. You truly deserve to die. Furthermore, a demon is a demon; deceiving others and defying the laws of nature only adds to your crimes. You must vanish into smoke..."
"How do you know I am a demon? If you don't tell me why, I will never accept this..."
"Because the aura around you carries a stench of decay." Enough with the nonsense. I pressed an evil-repelling talisman onto her rotting forehead, made a hand seal, recited an incantation, and unleashed Eighteen Cubes to ensure this Tree Demon would never be reborn.
The Evil Sorcerer set up a barrier, using the Tree Demon as cover. It seemed his efforts were not in vain. The Tree Demon was indeed loyal and prepared to confront me.
Could it be that this hidden Evil Sorcerer knew I was coming? Was it because I had seen his abilities that he was unwilling to face me directly, still affected by the Demonic Needle? After eliminating the Tree Demon, darkness enveloped the room once more, every cubic meter filled with a chilling sensation. I shook my flashlight and noticed a white porcelain bottle leaning against the wall on the floor. The bottle gleamed brightly, as if forgotten and left behind, its opening stuffed with a piece of red cloth.
It could possibly contain some elixir or something similar. I couldn't be bothered to check; instead, I kicked it lightly, causing the red cloth to fall away without revealing anything inside. It wasn't a vessel for raising spirits; it should be a bottle for elixirs. Generally, elixirs from those with ill intentions should not be consumed or even smelled because "Evil Sorcerer" is merely a general term for those with wicked hearts, including practitioners of witchcraft and curses.
Many people are aware of witchcraft nowadays; with just a quick search online, it's easy to find information.
I ignored the porcelain bottle and thought: Tree Demon and ghosts, do you really think your tricks can embarrass me in front of Ma Grandpa? I scoffed derisively, chuckled coldly, and quickly left the dilapidated two-story building. As I reached the door, I glanced at the towering Old Huai Tree before stepping closer. The Old Huai Tree shed countless leaves as if weeping—crying for what? In your next life, strive to be a good tree, continue cultivating and doing good deeds; perhaps you can become a Tree Demon again. With that thought in mind, I raised my hand and pointed—a burst of Purgatory Flame shot toward the Old Huai Tree.
From within the blue flames came strange cries that ordinary people could not comprehend; these were the dying struggles of the Old Huai Tree's spirits.
After burning this Old Huai Tree, I wondered how it would continue its misdeeds in the future.
The firelight reflected off the mottled walls of the two-story building but did not last long. After a wisp of smoke, the Old Huai Tree ceased to exist, leaving only a charred stump behind. I clapped my hands together and thought: You ran fast enough; leaving behind one ghost—the cursed Tree Demon—trying to deal with me won't be as easy as you think.
Looking at the time, it was almost ten o'clock at night. I needed to hurry back; otherwise, some people would be searching all over the place for me. Just as I was about to leave, a voice called out from the doorway, "Hey, wait a minute." I instinctively turned around and was taken aback. She was still here; how had I not sensed her presence?
Indeed, the person calling me was Li Luwen's Old Mother. At that moment, the elderly woman had disheveled hair, walked unsteadily, and appeared anxious, too frightened to look back as she hurried toward me.
"Auntie."
"Hey, young man, are you looking for me?"
"At first, I was looking for you, but then something happened that led to this situation. What puzzles me is that when I used Soul Searching Incense to find you, I lost your trail along the way. Now you’ve come out from there. Do you remember what your surroundings were like?" I added, "It would be best if you could tell me everything that happened and why you came here in the first place."
