Laura stood in front of an ancient teaching building at Oxford University, smiling slightly at the invitation letter in her hand. Being invited to participate in an archaeology excavation in the north of England was unexpected, but it was also a validation of her many years of interest in ancient civilizations and myths. After a brief moment of contemplation, she decided without hesitation to accept this rare opportunity.
"This will be an exciting adventure," she thought to herself.
Later, Laura joined a team of experts, scholars, and volunteers in an archaeology expedition. They all traveled together in a specially provided four-wheel drive vehicle, heading towards their destination.
Outside the car window, the scenery of England was as enchanting as ever. The vehicle passed through the city center of Oxford, crossed rivers and lush hills, until it reached the edge of a dense forest. Along the way, they passed a section of the ruins of Hadrian's Wall, which made Laura even more excited. As a historian, Hadrian's Wall was not just an ancient defensive structure to her, but also a living historical evidence, witnessing the influence of the ancient Roman Empire in Britain.
"Unbelievable..." Laura looked at the ancient stone wall stretching to the horizon, filled with curiosity and anticipation for the historical relics about to be unearthed.
The car finally stopped at a remote excavation site. Laura followed the archaeology team out of the car, surveying the surroundings while mentally preparing for the excavation work ahead.

Every other morning, Laura stands on a desolate piece of land in the northern part of England. This excavation site is located near Hadrian's Wall, a major project from the time of the Roman Empire aimed at protecting Roman territory in Britannia from the invasion of northern Barbarian tribes. Hadrian's Wall stretches from east to west across the entire northern part of England, spanning approximately 73 miles, and was one of the greatest defense projects in the world at that time.
The excavation site is a wide rectangular area of about 20 meters wide and 50 meters long. Scattered around are some marked archaeological sites, including an Ancient Roman camp, remnants of weapons, and fragments of household goods. The entire site is covered with a thin layer of white cloth to prevent weathering and other natural factors from damaging the archaeological remains.
Several white tents are set up on the ground, serving as temporary work and rest areas for archaeologists and students. One of the tents houses high-tech scanning and analysis equipment, which Laura uses as important tools for researching and verifying the ancient artifacts she discovers.
Hadrian's Wall is not only a massive defensive project, but also a complex administrative and military network. Every so often, there would be a small fortress or watchtower used to monitor and protect the land. These ancient architectural ruins have now become important sources for scholars and history enthusiasts to study the Roman Empire and ancient England history.
Laura stands in this land silently, feeling a sense of awe. At this moment, she finds herself at an important bridge connecting the past and the present. Each excavation and discovery could reveal new stories and unsolved mysteries.
