Chapter 1: End of the Demon Realm (Ten) 0

These were the words spoken by Qin Ye when he sent me back to the Black Water River. 0

In this world, countless people die unexpectedly, and no one knows why. Why must they die? Why do they leave this world so early, without understanding the details behind it? 0

I am a Mortician, dedicated to serving the deceased; I speak for myself. 0

The car sped forward at breakneck speed, with Qin Jian focused on driving through line after line of defenses set up by the Evil Spirit Collector. 0

The wailing cries gradually faded away, and ahead lay a bright expanse. It was an illusion, a trick created by the Evil Spirit Collector to confuse us. At this moment, there was no light in the human realm; it should have been around two in the morning. 0

"Dammit..." Qin Jian's voice faltered as he noticeably slowed down. 0

I quickly performed a hand gesture and pressed a Silencing Talisman against Qin Jian's back. He couldn't make a sound and turned red with urgency. I leaned closer to him and whispered, "Just keep driving forward; don't worry about anything else." All Qin Jian could see were Shadows swarming around our car from all directions, countless Shadows closing in on us. 0

This was Ghostly Obstruction. 0

Qin Jian had never experienced this before, so it was natural for him to feel a bit panicked. However, with me here, he wouldn't panic too much. 0

Typically, any driver encountering Ghostly Obstruction would be in trouble. After all, seeing so many "people," how could one possibly drive through them? Those with weak willpower and insufficient composure would have no choice but to stop when faced with such a situation. 0

Once you stop the car, well, your life is over. 0

That said, one does not gain wisdom without experience. During this search for Bone Jade, I felt I had learned quite a bit and my energy had increased significantly. 0

The illusions created by the Evil Spirit Collector were useless; our car surged forward without any resistance. 0

It seemed there was something ahead—faint figures and shouting voices could be seen. My Silencing Talisman was only effective within the Ghostly Trap; once we passed that trap, the talisman would naturally lose its power. 0

Qin Jian's first words were curses: "Ma Qi, you bastard." His outburst startled me; according to my calculations, we shouldn't have passed the Ghostly Trap so quickly. But my Silencing Talisman was indeed effective—he could speak now and even cursed at me. 0

I found it hard to believe that we had passed the Ghostly Trap. Looking out the car window, everything was dim, making it impossible to tell whether it was early morning or late at night. Fortunately, all my lost belongings were in the car—my phone, the Bagua Mirror, and more. 0

I turned to him and said, "Congratulations on being safe for now." I reached back to grab my bag and pulled out my phone to check the time. 0

The time on my phone read 1:30 AM. 0

I opened the date and saw 01/57. 0

Seeing that set of numbers, I froze. 0

At that moment, Qin Jian had already parked. To him, this place was crowded with people and illuminated by flashlight-like beams of light; perhaps this was the rumored Ghost Market. He was preparing to get out and see if there was any food for sale. 0

"Qin Jian, we need to leave here quickly." 0

"What's wrong?" 0

"We haven't left the Ghostly Trap yet." 0

"Ah!" Qin Jian was startled and turned back to sit down, his hands trembling as he struggled to start the car. Just then, the vehicle shook violently. I looked outside and saw a terrifying array of ghostly faces clawing at the windows, surrounding the car and attempting to lift it off the ground. 0

I had heard of the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons before, but witnessing a hundred ghosts trying to lift a car was a first for me. Qin Jian was terrified, desperately trying to start the engine. Even when the car was lifted into the air, he continued to struggle with it. Meanwhile, I began forming hand seals and chanting incantations; I would do whatever it took to drive these monsters away. 0

"I am the eye, pursuing the form; my gaze like lightning shines at level eight, revealing all that is formless. Ghostly Beings have no place to hide; Urgent Command!" I muttered under my breath—if I had to bleed again, so be it. 0

With my exorcism spell in effect, the car dropped back down with a thud. This time Qin Jian managed to start it up; the vehicle roared to life like a wild horse charging toward the horde of ghosts. The fleeing spirits clung to the roof of the car or chased alongside us, while some flew up and dangled a single eyeball, baring their teeth in terrifying grimaces. 0

Finally, we managed to shake off the swarm of ghosts behind us, and both Qin Jian and I let out a sigh of relief. 0

"Ma Qi, just how wide is this Damn Ghostly Trap?" 0

"Don't worry, this is the last Ghost Lock." 0

"Okay, you scared me to death just now." Qin Jian croaked, wiping the cold sweat off his forehead and muttering, "We didn't encounter any of this on the way here. What on earth is going on?" 0

"When we came here, we walked into a trap and took things we shouldn't have." As I spoke, I glanced at the bones wrapped in my clothes. 0

Yu was very quiet. 0

Not only that, but it seemed like the entire world had fallen silent. The events of the past few minutes felt like a fleeting dream, no longer existing. Only the terrifying memories in our minds occasionally reminded us that this journey was not as smooth as we had imagined. 0

I grabbed my phone to check the time. 0

It read 4:50 AM. Looking at the date, it was 01574. Only then did I truly relax, leaning back against the chair and crossing my arms comfortably, closing my eyes. 0

Qin Jian noticed I was dozing off and looked anxious, shouting loudly, "Ma Qi, is everything okay now?" 0

"Shut up! I just dreamed of Zhou Gong. Zhou Gong said we are safe now, so don't shout at me. Let me sleep for a bit." 0

"Oh." Hearing that we were safe made Qin Jian smile widely, his mood lifting. The car continued moving forward, and the scenery by the roadside gradually became clearer, revealing vibrant greens of nature. This was truly the world of humanity; the sky began to lighten with dawn—today should be a good day. 0

I chuckled to myself: "I can see the sun rising again." 0

"Hey hey, just sleep! I'm familiar with this road," Qin Jian said confidently. 0

I had already closed my eyes, relaxing my entire body. As I relaxed, I saw a kite drifting under the blue and white clouds. The one holding the kite string was Han Mi. I called out to her: "Mi." 0

"Brother Qi, you promised me we'd fly kites together." 0

"Mm." I embraced her, taking a deep breath of her scent; the faint fragrance intoxicated me. I longed to sink into the ocean of love with her once more. In that ocean of love, it would just be the two of us, freely wandering together, and we would give birth to many Ma Qi. 0

My children gathered around me, urging me to share stories from my time as a Mortician. 0

This is my fantasy; in reality, the kite took her away. I couldn't grasp her, and my eyes became moist as a warm tear rolled down. I felt as if there was truly someone in my arms, a woman. Her body was cold, and she gently wiped away the tears from my face. 0

"Ma Qi is crying," I heard her voice whispering, speaking to someone. 0

"Don't be fooled by his carefree demeanor; he is more tormented than anyone else. There is someone in his heart, and he hasn't heard from her in a long time. Perhaps he dreams of her." 0

Qin Jian is my confidant; he understands me. That's why he spoke such fitting words. I slowly opened my eyes, and Yu jumped back. I scolded Qin Jian, "Talking behind someone's back isn't a good thing." 0

"Haha, go ahead and scold me. Just look at where we are!" 0

The Rising Sun illuminated everything, casting light over the land. A thin mist enveloped the mountains, and we resembled a beetle crawling through a painting. At the end of the road stood towering skyscrapers, and the crowd resembled steaming buns, filling the streets to the brim, creating a scene of bustling prosperity that felt crowded and narrow. 0
