Chapter 110: Dead Loop 0

I stood in the Black Frame, suddenly recalling the earlier imagined scene. If the Black Frame was a Portrait, then I was the photograph within it. I startled myself again due to Daydreaming, instinctively taking a step back. From behind me, a burst of giggles erupted, causing me to instinctively leap sideways. I turned quickly, and the panoramic view of the Staircase came into sight. I noticed a girl, around fifteen or sixteen years old, sitting on the stairs. 0

The girl was quite pretty, her cute posture tilted as she looked at me, covering her mouth while laughing joyfully. 0

This Girl gave me a sense of déjà vu, yet I couldn't recall where I had seen her before. I struggled to think, my mind a chaotic blur with no clear thoughts. 0

The Girl slowly stood up from the stairs and straightened herself, asking me, "Don't you like staying in the hospital?" 0

"Not really." 0

"I don't like hospitals either, but I can't leave." 0

"Which ward are you in? It's so late; you need to go back and rest so you can have energy to play." 0

The Girl refused to answer my question and instead spoke earnestly, "Brother, it's not fun being here alone. Let me take you to a really fun place." 0

What could possibly be fun in a hospital? I thought she must be a child who didn't understand. I couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Brother doesn't want to play; you should go back to your ward and sleep." 0

"Brother, I want to take you to meet someone." 0

"Who?" 0

"You'll find out when you go." The Girl's ethereal voice echoed in the corridor, giving me the impression that we were in an empty space, just the two of us having a conversation face to face. Her invitation was enticing; I couldn't continue to refuse and decisively agreed to follow her. 0

This hospital was particularly large, with countless wards and innumerable staircases, corridors, and passageways. If there were no signs on the walls or markers on the floor, I thought anyone could easily lose their way and fail to find their own ward. 0

The empty space echoed with my footsteps; the Girl walked lightly as if her shoes were cushioned with something that prevented them from touching the ground. 0

I can clearly tell you that this girl is not human, but rather a lingering soul that refuses to disappear. 0

What I think is that there exists a bond between people, a kind of fate, and there is also some unspoken factor between humans and spirits. Including causality, I believe this child found me for a reason. 0

Perhaps she wants me to meet someone. 0

What strikes me as both touching and strange is that, despite feeling subconsciously familiar with her, I cannot recall where I have seen her or what her name is. 0

My grandfather once told me that the soul's intermediate body is what we call a ghost. Generally, souls that linger in the human world unwilling to depart transform into evil spirits due to subconscious resentment and malice. Evil spirits typically have not experienced the long journeys associated with titles like Yellow Springs Path, Wishing Platform, or Evil Dog Ridge; instead, they become evil spirits that wreak havoc in the world due to their existence. 0

The presence of evil spirits is terrifying; they indiscriminately create disasters and slaughter the innocent, which is why onmyoji exist. 0

My grandfather was a mortician and also an onmyoji. Unfortunately, I did not inherit his true teachings. I only hope to encounter Qin Ye again, to become his disciple and learn genuine skills to eliminate demons and evil beings from the world. 0

As I walked while thinking, I lost track of how many turns I had taken or how many corridors I had passed through. Eventually, we arrived at a long hallway that seemed endless. 0

On both sides of the corridor were tightly closed doors, and at the end of the hallway was a mass of darkness—an endless kind of black. 0

"Brother, are you scared?" 0

"No, but wait, I still don't know your name." 0

"Zhu Xiaoye." 0

"That's a nice name. How old are you?" 0

"I'm three years shy of sixteen." 0

"How long have you been here?" 0

"Two years, three months, eighteen days, and fifty-two minutes." 0

Look, this is the advantage of a soul; it is much smarter than a human. It’s just that when living, one doesn’t realize the preciousness of time, but after death, every minute and second is remembered clearly. I feigned nonchalance and said, "That's good. Shouldn't we keep moving forward?" 0

"Yes, but there are terrifying things inside." Yezi paused as she spoke. Her expression didn’t reveal fear or dread, nor did she show any signs of trembling. 0

"Are you saying I should go in alone?" 0

"Yes!" Yezi nodded reluctantly, pressing her lips together, her eyes filled with reluctance. 0

If Yezi were alive, she would undoubtedly be a remarkable girl, destined to grow into a beauty. I didn’t voice these pointless thoughts; instead, I habitually sniffed and reached out to pat her head. She nimbly dodged my hand. 0

My hand fell empty in mid-air as she turned to leave. I awkwardly retracted my hand and looked toward the dark mass at the end. 0

Unlike before, this dark mass was not a window but a door leading to another space. There were no lights around the door; under the light effect, it was shrouded in a massive shadow, forming a dark mass. 0

I walked toward that dark mass with resolute determination. I had a feeling that Yezi's appearance was not coincidental; what she wanted me to see was definitely extraordinary. 0

In fact, I was overthinking it. 0

There were lights within that dark mass. Just as I approached it, the sensor light flickered on, illuminating the surroundings. What appeared before me was a half glass double door, with bright red warning letters on the glass indicating that this was an operating room. 0

An operating room! 0

Now there were no nurses or doctors around; why did Yezi bring me here? Could there be a patient inside? With questions swirling in my mind, I stepped closer to the double door, bracing myself against it. A chill ran from my palms up my arms and through my entire body. I shivered but still decisively pushed the door open. 0

The door creaked loudly as it swung back and forth, making strange noises as if it had springs installed on its hinges that wouldn’t stop. 0

I didn’t look back at the door but walked straight into the operating room. It was cold and eerie inside; the chill from all directions pierced through my neck. Looking around, the entire operating room was dominated by dark tones; even with cold light fixtures illuminating it, everything remained dim and shadowy. 0

In the darkness, a blood-soaked Surgical Bed appeared, startling me to the point where I almost cried out. Suddenly, there was a loud bang from the entrance, as if the Double Door had swung open, or perhaps someone had slammed it shut. 0

My heart raced uncontrollably. I didn’t have time to look at the door; my curiosity was entirely captured by the figure covered with a bloodstained Sheet on the Surgical Bed. Bare feet protruded from beneath the Sheet, and blood dripped from an arm that hung limply. The sight was utterly horrifying. 0

Could it be that Yezi wanted me to save someone? 0

Inching closer, I trembled as I reached out to pull back the bloodied Sheet. Just as my fingers were about to touch it, the Sheet was suddenly lifted. The person beneath it, drenched in blood, turned out to be Chi Zhi Ping. 0

My heart leaped in shock and paused for a moment. The bloodied figure spoke: “Ma Qi is here.” With that, a surge of blood gushed forth from Chi Zhi Ping, who then collapsed stiffly. In a daze, I leaned in closer to confirm what I saw. But instead of Chi Zhi Ping, all I could see was the Surgical Bed. Beneath the Sheet lay a cold, lifeless body. 0

The body was not Chi Zhi Ping. 0

Damn! My heart nearly couldn't handle the shock. How could I have thought that was Chi Zhi Ping? Just then, I felt a chilling gaze from behind me that made me uneasy. I turned around nervously and gasped in astonishment. 0
