Chapter 086: Supernatural Growth (Part Twelve) 0

After hearing the screams, I rushed in nervously, causing Mi, who was squatting by the pond washing herself, to unexpectedly fall into the water. Her bare, pale body stood out starkly against the dark water. Without thinking, I jumped in and grabbed her, pulling her up as she struggled desperately. 0

I pushed her to the edge of the pond, and she coughed repeatedly. I couldn't help but glance at her beautiful figure; her fair skin was full and slightly trembling, while her long black hair cascaded down, covering half of her face. 0

She was sobbing, her hands weakly supporting herself on the ground. A pang of pain shot through my heart. I hurriedly climbed out of the pond, deliberately turning my head away to avoid looking at her. I rushed over to where her clothes were piled up, grabbed them without looking back, and handed them to her. "Just wear these for now; we'll leave once it gets light." 0

In such a situation, it wasn't that I was incapable; rather, I lacked the confidence to look at her again without succumbing to my rising primal urges. 0

The rustling sound of her getting dressed stopped, but she continued to sob. She had probably never experienced such humiliation and suffering in her life; she must feel deeply wronged and regretful. I asked, "Are you dressed?" 0

"Yeah." 0

Turning to look at her, I could see fear and anxiety in her eyes. 0

"What were you screaming about earlier?" 0

"A bug flew onto my shoulder." 0

"A bug?" I brushed aside her wet hair and sighed involuntarily. "I'm really sorry for putting you through this. Would you like me to take you back?" 0

"It's fine; I want to be with you." She glanced at my arm and frowned. "Does it hurt?" 0

"It doesn't hurt." I touched the bleeding area caused by the separation of my skin and muscle, forcing a light smile. "As long as you're okay. When I heard you scream, I thought something terrible had happened." 0

"I'm sorry." 0

"Stop saying sorry; I should be the one apologizing!" I held her close, feeling her tremble. "Are you scared?" 0

"Yeah, I'm afraid here. It feels like there are eyes watching me." Mi was genuinely frightened, nervously glancing around as she spoke. The surroundings were all rock walls covered in moss. The air was heavy with humidity, and the constant dripping of water echoed in the silence; nothing else seemed out of the ordinary. 0

"I think those eyes are coming from the pond." 0

The tranquil mindset was shattered by Mi's sudden scream, sending my heart racing again. Just as I had managed to calm down, her words made my heart constrict once more. I wasn't entirely at ease leaving Mi here, but after a thorough check, I felt she should be safe—though I had indeed overlooked what might be lurking beneath the water. 0

What could be in the water? 0

Fish wouldn't harm us; besides, we weren't in a horror movie where piranhas lurked. 0

Even though the raw spots on my body still throbbed with pain, I forced a smile through the agony and said, "What danger could there be in the water? Tell me, what creatures can swim?" As I asked this question, I pondered it myself. There were all sorts of creatures in the world—ferocious, kind, treacherous, and wicked. Which of them could hide underwater? 0

Initially just trying to pass the time, I casually brought up Mi's chilling gaze towards the depths of the water. I thought that being together was better than being alone and asked this silly question to buy some time. 0

After a few seconds of silence, we both reached our mental limit and simultaneously thought of one creature: snakes! 0

"Snakes." The moment Mi uttered that word, my heart skipped a beat. Snakes are cold-blooded creatures. Without limbs, they can slither silently for miles. This thought filled me with an instinctive aversion to snakes. Remembering the wear on the stones at the cave entrance combined with the strange occurrences happening to me lately and that bizarre dream I had not long ago sent a wave of inexplicable chill through me. 0

It was clear that Mi was also terrified of snakes; when she mentioned it, she instinctively leaned closer to me. 0

"It's so quiet here; nothing like what you're imagining will happen," I reassured her as I embraced her, inhaling her fragrant scent and losing myself in it. With no space between us, we could hear each other's heartbeats amidst the cold atmosphere surrounding us. As we unconsciously held each other tighter, it became difficult to separate again from this comforting warmth. Being wrapped up like this felt truly wonderful. 0

In countless fantasies and scenarios I had imagined being alone with Han Mi, I never expected it to happen in such an environment, in this unique space, nestled together. I savored the moment, my heart blooming with joy as I leaned in for a slow, somewhat clumsy kiss. 0

Before we could even lock eyes, we were drawn to each other, surrendering to our primal instincts. Together, we finally fell into the abyss of love, experiencing the tumultuous emotions that came with it. 0

But happiness is always fleeting. She grew tired and nestled into my arms, drifting off to a sweet sleep. In that moment, however, I sensed something unusual from beneath the water—a strange sound intruding upon my sensitive eardrums. Startled, I leaned forward, noticing that Mi's head rested on my lap. This position seemed more comfortable for her, but my vision was limited due to my previous injury; it began to throb painfully. 0

Taking a deep breath, I gently moved Mi's head aside and placed my shirt under her head for support. As I slowly stood up, I hadn’t yet pinpointed the source of the sound when suddenly there was a loud crash—a massive splash of water drenched me completely. The sudden noise startled Mi awake; her eyes widened in surprise. I quickly gestured for her to be quiet. 0

A large snake head emerged from the water, its dark brown body glistening and thick like a giant barrel. It lunged at me with a flurry of splashes. 0

"Damn!" 0

I blurted out as I grabbed Mi and pulled her away. 0

The enormous python was as thick as half a beer barrel but surprisingly agile. It shot out of the water and quickly slithered toward us, its forked tongue hissing ominously. The sound echoed throughout the cave. Mi and I were terrified, our legs trembling as we ran together, exhaustion creeping in. 0

She struggled to keep up; having twisted her ankle earlier made it even harder for her to run. We were just a few meters from escaping the cave when I urged her to push through. She insisted on pushing me ahead, not wanting to drag me down with her. 0

Frustrated, I held onto her tightly and dashed toward the exit just as the python closed in behind us. 0

"Damn it," I thought in disbelief as the creature intercepted us through another passageway. Its massive head and gaping mouth appeared before us. 0

A foul stench wafted from its open jaws, instantly filling the air with an unbearable odor—so rancid it could knock out a fat pig. 0

I shielded Mi with my body and looked up at the giant serpent. From behind me, she said weakly, "Brother Qi, I can't go on anymore. You should run!" 0

Indeed, if one of us could escape while the other became the python's meal, it would buy some time for the one who remained behind. Only one of us could make it out alive. 0

But I couldn't do that. I stretched out my arms, feeling as insignificant as an ant in front of the giant python. 0

I performed the Thunder Technique with my hands and recited the incantation: "Fire Thunder God, Earth Fire Thunder God, Five Thunder Spirits Descend, lock Ghost Lock essence. By the decree of the Five Emperors, cut down evil and extinguish essence, Urgent Command!" Damn it! I unleashed the Five Thunder Spell, but nothing happened. The giant python's massive head slithered and writhed, its bulging yellow-brown eyes radiating fierce light. It wasn't working! I couldn't afford to delay any longer. I turned sharply to Mi behind me and said, "You need to run! I'll stay back and take the original path down the mountain to get help." 0

"If you die, how can I live? Brother Qi, since you're not leaving, then we'll face this together and become a feast for the giant python. Let's live and die together, okay?" Mi smiled faintly, her voice tinged with tears. 0

I was trying to draw the giant python's attention while pushing Mi back with one hand. There was no time for sentimental talk now. 0

The massive head of the python swayed as if taunting us, its bulging eyes glowing with a green sheen. I waved my phone at it defiantly: "Come on! My flesh is delicious; I guarantee you'll be well-fed." 0

I thought Mi and I were doomed, but what happened next was beyond my belief. 0

The giant python moved slowly and appeared surprisingly docile. It leaned forward and gently brushed against my face, its cold touch sending a shiver through me like an electric current. Miraculously, the intense pain in my body vanished, and the messy skin that had been peeling away was gone. Looking at the python again, its mixed-colored eyes flashed with a strange light before it quickly retracted its head and disappeared without a trace. 0

What just happened? 0

Both Mi and I were stunned. After a few seconds of dazed silence, we snapped back to reality; danger still lurked here in the cave where the giant python roamed. We had to run. 0

Finally escaping from the cave's mouth, we collapsed onto the ground in a deep darkness. It was still too early for dawn, and my heart sank further. 0

Mi fell to the ground, panic-stricken as she looked back at the cave entrance and asked, "What was that?" 0

"A giant python!" 0

As I answered her, I grabbed her hand again to run. I wanted to get further away from the cave, but she shook her head: "Brother Qi, I can't run anymore." Mi's face was pale as she gasped for breath. 0

"I'll carry you," I said. To be honest, I was covered in blood, with every area of skin that had peeled off bleeding. Fortunately, after playing around with Mi for a while, I managed to put my pants back on, leaving my shirt soaked and bloodied on the ground, my upper body a vivid red. 0

Seeing my condition, Mi burst into tears and said, "Brother Qi, are we going to die?" 0

"No, we won't. This is just subcutaneous bleeding. It will heal automatically after the skin peels off. Look here." I ran around while pointing to the areas that had already healed completely. 0

"Is it coming?" 0

"No..." 0

The giant python did not appear, but I could faintly hear the sound of funeral music coming from somewhere. 0
