Chapter 76: Supernatural Growth (Part Two)
The Li Gui appeared, while the Monster Woman vanished.
The coffin lay open; had the Monster Woman returned to it? Finally, I followed Li Gui's gaze to the bone tightly clenched in my hand, which was stained with blood. The blood wasn't mine; I hadn't felt any injury, and the monster hadn't touched me. It must belong to that creature.
The moment I saw the Monster Woman float out, I thought she was merely a lifeless corpse, brought into existence by Evil Arts. Yet, I never truly expected a corpse could have blood.
"What have you done?" Li Gui suddenly howled. Before I could respond, he lunged at me like a mad dog.
In an instant, darkness enveloped the room once more.
Layers of ghostly energy surged forward, accompanied by eerie sounds. Wherever my Demon Eyes gazed, ghosts flew in, clawing, biting, scratching, and colliding with me.
I dodged, evaded, jumped back, and retreated. As I avoided the ghosts' attacks, I decisively pulled out the Poison Testing Needle and thrust it at the ghost that lunged at me again.
The Poison Testing Needle had tested countless corpses, gathering resentment, malice, murderous intent, and brutality within itself. No matter how powerful a ghost might be, once struck by it, their soul would scatter.
The ghosts feared the power of the Poison Testing Needle and recoiled before being struck down by Li Gui's palm.
With a chilling howl that resembled a wolf or tiger, Li Gui unleashed an ancient curse along with a peculiar staff aimed at me. I quickly dodged and countered with a hand gesture to unleash the Five Thunder Spell.
"You brat, your strength is still too weak to provoke me!"
With my Demon Eyes active, it was easy to see Li Gui's terrifying appearance even in the dark.
His skeletal face grinned wickedly in the shadows before he opened his mouth wide—an acrid wind rushed toward me. I hurriedly performed the Pangu Formula and steadied my stance; no matter how powerful his Evil Arts were, they couldn't harm me.
However, just as I scoffed at Li Gui's tricks in my arrogance, something slick from the foul wind shot into my eye. A sharp pain surged through me as I instinctively covered my eye; warmth began to seep through my fingers.
I couldn't see anymore. The moment I slightly opened my eyes, a splitting headache ensued; my eyeball felt like it was about to burst—"Ah..." I stumbled back several steps until I leaned against the wall, unable to move. My Demon Eyes had been compromised; I had been too careless. Even Grandpa warned against carelessly revealing Demon Eyes.
I find myself in a peculiar environment, revealing my Demon Eyes, only to be shattered by Li Gui.
Despair overwhelms me as I sense a chilling wind approaching from my left. My back presses against a cold wall, the chill seeping deep into my bones. Blood continues to flow; I believe my face is already drenched in it.
In the darkness, I slowly turn my head, feeling my neck stiffening.
Through the thick blackness, I seem to see a pair of blood-red eyes fixated on me, sharp claws poised to tear me apart. I let out a cold laugh, biting down on my tongue, and spat—aiming at the Ghost Child lunging towards me.
A shriek pierced the air as the ghost was engulfed in smoke. Li Gui caught it and cursed it as useless before it fell silent.
Li Gui saw me biting my tongue to deal with the ghost and was filled with surprise. "You little brat, I never expected you to be the Pure Yang Body I've been searching for. Now it's perfect; you’ve shattered my mother’s Primordial Spirit. I will use your Pure Yang Body to refine her essence and restore her Primordial Spirit."
What the hell!
That monster earlier was Li Gui's mother!
How could that be? Such delicate skin and a body that didn’t resemble an old woman at all!
I suppressed the excruciating pain and retorted, "Li Gui, if you dare come closer, I'll destroy your mother's Corpse."
Li Gui was taken aback by my words and asked in disbelief, "What do you have in your hand?"
"You've committed countless evils. Your mother became addicted to eating dogs; even in death, she can't find peace. Her soul must be devoured by the Vicious Dogs of Underworld Evil Dog Village. Her Corpse is in my hands; just now, I used her own bones to injure the monster you created."
Li Gui chuckled ominously and sighed deeply. "No wonder! With my cultivation level, creating my mother’s Primordial Spirit should have been flawless. So it was you..."
At this moment, I no longer fear what Li Gui might do to me.
Just like Grandpa used to say, a person only dies once in their lifetime. Life and death are uncertain; perhaps my calamity lies here. Once I understand this, I can face life and death with calmness.
I raised Li Gui's mother's corpse high above my head, ready to shatter this bundle of foul bones at the slightest hint of his treachery. Qin Ye, once I crush the bones of that wicked woman, her soul and everything associated with her would cease to exist forever; even a deity couldn't help her reincarnate.
Just as I held the stinking bones aloft, a fearful voice from Li Gui called out, "Wait! We can discuss this."
Li Gui approached me step by step, and the bundle I held began to lower. "Don't come any closer, or I'll smash her."
"What do you want, you brat?"
I was actually waiting for someone. I had a feeling that Qin Ye wouldn't ignore us.
Just when Li Gui was about to impatiently lunge for the bones, the door was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang. A blinding light flooded in, causing my eyes to ache even more. Then, warm hands steadied me, and I heard a familiar voice shout, "Brother Qi! What's wrong?"
"I'm fine. Not dead yet."
"That's good." That brat probably wished I were dead!
The chubby one whispered, "Qin Ye is here. As long as he's around, we're safe."
Indeed, it was Qin Ye who had arrived. I heard Li Gui ask, "Who are you?"
"Li Gui, how dare you bully a child? You ask who I am; I would tell you, but you're not worthy to know." As he spoke, the sound of his clothes rustled in the air. The chubby one trembled nervously.
He helped me hold onto the bones while glancing back at the confrontation between Qin Ye and Li Gui.
"I don't want to leave," I stubbornly refused to move from my spot.
After several exchanges between Qin Ye and Li Gui, Li Gui spat blood, one hand pressed against his chest while the other braced against the ground. His shifty eyes glanced toward me. Just as the chubby one was about to urge me to leave, Li Gui lunged at me in a sudden leap.
"Fat Mama!" he shouted as he crouched down without enough time to dodge.
I was caught by Li Gui, feeling an unbearable chill that made me shiver uncontrollably. My blood felt like it had frozen, and my hands and legs were nearly numb. If it weren't for a surge of mental energy, I would have dropped the bag I was holding.
Qin Ye acted a moment too late; my neck was being choked by Li Gui, and I was close to suffocating, yet my hands clung tightly to the bag containing the bones.
Qin Ye raised his hand. "Li Gui, let's make a trade. You let go of the kid, and I'll give you your mother's bones."
"Do you think I need to trade?" Li Gui reached out to snatch the bones from me. The pressure on my neck loosened slightly, and I quickly seized the opportunity to swing the bag at him with all my might.
After all, these were his mother's bones.
Li Gui was known for his filial piety, a fact that Qin Ye had heard about somewhere. It was said that long ago, hunger had driven Li Gui to steal, resulting in a beating. Just as he was about to be killed, his mother had knelt down to plead for mercy, working for others to pay off his debts from stealing.
When I struck him with his mother's bones, Li Gui was terrified and immediately released me, collapsing to the ground in tears. "Stop hitting me! Please stop!"
