Chapter 075: Supernatural Growth (Part One) 0

Upon entering this place, various strange sounds echoed in my ears. Fortunately, I had stuffed the ears of the Fat One with talismans before leaving, preventing me from hearing these noises and risking a disturbance of my sanity. 0

I took a deep breath and cautiously made my way toward the last door. I was not far from it now, and a palpable sense of dread emanated from within. 0

I was convinced that this was the lair of the Li Gui, where it refined the resentment and malice of spirits in hopes of reaching the highest realm, for only at that level could it successfully nurture an Evil Spirit. 0

The door was a Double Door, appearing heavy and severely corroded. 0

Despite the severe rust at the bottom of the door, it was surprisingly clean. I lifted the bag containing the Corpse with one hand and pushed open the door with the other. As I stepped into the Iron Foundry area, I sensed that the cunning Li Gui had caught my scent and was laying a trap for me. 0

To my astonishment, as I pushed open the door, the scene inside shocked me. 0

It was entirely arranged like a funeral hall, adorned with Funeral Wreaths, Black Veil Portraits, Spirit Coffins, and white candles. I stepped inside slowly, momentarily at a loss for thought, bewildered by the sight before me. In this atmosphere, it felt less like I was here to confront the Li Gui and more like I was presiding over a Funeral; in an instant, my mood turned inexplicably heavy. 0

Suddenly, amidst the quiet ambiance, a soft laugh broke through. A chill brushed against my neck, startling me awake. I turned around to see—what I had just felt was like a light veil gliding across my neck before vanishing without a trace. 0

There was no wind; the white candles flickered uncertainly. I scanned my surroundings carefully and listened intently but sensed nothing unusual. I had to admit that the opponent's Evil Arts had reached an advanced level. My gaze fell upon the Portrait—a large black veil obscured its features, framed in an ominous black frame. 0

Was this deliberately crafted to frighten? 0

I let out a cold laugh and said, "Li Gui, I am Ma Wu's grandson. Aren't you looking for my grandfather? Come out!" 0

My voice echoed in the empty funeral hall, mingling with the Spirit Coffin, candles, and that unsettling Black Mourning Frame. My eyes fixated on the Black Veil Portrait; it seemed to possess unseen ghostly eyes that revealed a sinister smile as it stared menacingly at me. 0

I shivered, stiffly turning around to fix my gaze on the Black Veil Portrait frame, stepping closer with each cautious stride. As I neared, I reached out and lifted the black veil, revealing an empty frame devoid of any portrait. 0

A chill ran through me. What kind of trick was this Li Gui playing? 0

The Black Mourning Frame was blank, so the Spirit Coffin should also be empty. But there was something even more bizarre: the environment for raising spirits had to be clean and eerie, yet why was there a ghost stationed outside while this place was devoid of any? 0

The Spirit Coffin sat quietly in the corner, appearing to me as nothing more than an empty coffin. 0

Having encountered these deathly coffins before, I felt no fear; there was nothing particularly frightening about them. However, facing this coffin in such a peculiar setting made my heart uneasy, a hint of anxiety creeping in. 0

The Spirit Coffin was tightly closed, made from fine wood that seemed to be of high quality. 0

To guard against any hidden traps, I scraped the coffin with a Poison Testing Needle. This needle had been used by my grandfather to test for poison when preparing bodies for burial. Typically, he would use it on eunuchs who died under suspicious circumstances, avoiding any intrusion on those who died naturally. 0

Once a person has passed away, unless the Deceased had a significant grievance that needed addressing or assistance, my grandfather would never take the risk of testing for poison or using other methods to uncover the truth behind their death. 0

The Poison Testing Needle served not only for testing but also as a means of self-defense. 0

In this world, one inevitably encounters various troubles; it’s not uncommon to make enemies inadvertently. Thus, one must remain vigilant in all aspects—eating, drinking, relieving oneself, and sleeping—to ensure safety and see another sunrise. 0

I never expected my grandfather to fall victim to Li Gui in this matter; it highlighted the differences between people and how my grandfather had been misled by Li Gui's exceptional acting skills. 0

I examined the Poison Testing Needle; it appeared clean and normal. Placing my hand on the edge of the coffin, I exerted force—the coffin creaked open slightly, releasing a faint white mist that wafted out. An icy chill spread throughout the room, making it feel even colder, as if a massive ceiling fan were generating a strong draft overhead. 0

At that moment, I truly felt the Coffin Lid beginning to open on its own. Startled, I took a large step back. 0

With a loud clang, the Coffin Lid was thrown open, and a pale mist rose up, cradling a woman. 0

She had a Bun Hairstyle, with a nose, ears, and mouth, but her eyes were completely covered by her hair, or perhaps they were on the other side. She lay on her back, with her nose, ears, and mouth leading down to her neck, which connected to her Shoulder Blade. Her hands were crossed over her Shoulder Blade. 0

Below her shoulder blades was her Navel, a flat abdomen with skin that was white and flawless. Instead of evoking beauty, it filled me with an infinite sense of dread. 0

She—rather than being a woman, she resembled a monster. My heart raced in terror as I continued to retreat; I had never seen such an eerie figure—a corpse that bore the shape of a woman yet looked like this. 0

In that moment, she resembled a canvas that had been rolled up and suddenly unfurled into a three-dimensional form as she shifted from lying down to standing. Just then, the White Candle extinguished! 0

I was momentarily frozen in fear before turning to run— 0

Bang! 0

The door swung open and then slammed shut. The room was pitch black; the Monster Woman was very close to me, almost within arm's reach. I could feel the cold aura emanating from her. 0

My instincts told me she was gliding toward me. 0

Damn! 0

I could easily imagine that this woman was definitely a man-eating monster. Her seemingly tightly closed lavender lips parted to reveal a row of sharp teeth like blades. Just thinking about crocodile teeth gave me a clear picture of what this monster's teeth must look like. 0

I stepped back, with no way to retreat, pressing against the doorframe. The room was dark, eerie, and chilling. "Qin Ye, you bastard, did you bring me this bag of dead bones just to send me to my death?" I trembled uncontrollably, feeling weak and cowardly. Finally, I threw caution to the wind, pulled out a bone from the bag, and thrust it forward with all my might. 0

Another light laugh echoed. 0

"Damn," it was the monster laughing! 0

I waved the bone wildly; it was the longest one in the pile, probably a femur or something. In any case, I swung the bone with all my strength, wary of the monster drawing closer. It was a desperate measure; all my exorcism tools were in Fat Hand's possession. I thought that as long as I had this bag of bones, I wouldn't have to fear what Li Gui might do to me. 0

But I never expected that Li Gui would play me like this, bringing a monster to wait for me. 0

I didn't know if it was my careless swinging of the bone that struck the monster or some other reason, but suddenly there was a sharp scream of "Ah..." that startled me so much that I almost dropped the bone from my hands. Then came a roaring growl, and with a whoosh, all the extinguished white candles in the room lit up. 0

A face appeared beside the Spirit Coffin, pale as a corpse—Li Gui—with a gloomy expression and cold light flashing in its pupils, piercing straight at me. 0
