Chapter 07: Breaking Out of Evil Dog Village
Qin Ye was awake in this world. He had long ago developed an addiction to eating dog meat, and since then, he had been plagued by nightmares filled with dogs. They chased him, wanting to tear him apart, and he would wake up drenched in cold sweat.
"So you disguise yourself as a madman, wandering the world to escape the dogs in your dreams?"
Qin Ye grabbed my face and teased, "Fool, you're adorably silly. Your Qin Ye is not a madman; I've always been wide awake."
I remembered that the lunatics in the Mental Hospital never admitted they were insane. I broke free from his grip, protesting, "Don't pull my face; my future depends on it..."
"When I was young, there were countless women around me, yet I didn't look at a single one."
Is this really Qin Ye? Looking at his carefree and disheveled appearance, it was hard to believe any woman would be interested in someone like him. I held my tongue but scorned him internally.
I blurted out all the questions I had: "What is this place called? Why are there so many dogs? And where are we going next?"
"You sure have a lot of questions. Let me think about which one to answer first!"
I waited in silence, listening to the rustling footsteps. It felt like we had distanced ourselves from the Vicious Dog, yet it also seemed like we were still within its territory. The atmosphere here felt strange; the stillness around us and the numerous scattered bones along the path made it seem as if we were dreaming—an odd blend of unreality and palpable fear.
"Listen carefully; this place is called Evil Dog Village. There are many dogs here—these are the Dog Souls of those who were eaten in the human world and now wander this place. So you understand, the place we’re heading to is just ahead."
Evil Dog Village—it truly was Evil Dog Village! Qin Ye had his fill of eating; the Vicious Dogs here were targeting him. He had the audacity to make me wear his clothes and then run off alone, now pretending to be a good person while trying to lead me into a trap?
I genuinely had no idea what kind of person Qin Ye was. It was my first time receiving a ghost call from Lao Luo, my first encounter with such a bizarre Strange Uncle named Qin Ye, and I had already suffered greatly from our initial meeting. I suspected he wasn't really Qin Ye but an imposter; otherwise, how could he have devised such a scheme to ensnare me within the Vicious Dog's grasp?
I told myself that I absolutely could not let this happen again. I needed to stay alert and be especially wary of this so-called Qin Ye, this Strange Uncle before me.
I followed his words in silence, moving along the path.
A road stretched far into the distance, where my sight could not reach, and suddenly a pile of bones appeared before me without warning.
Madman Qinyao made a request that filled me with rage.
"Kneel down, as if you were before your own family, eliminate all distractions, kneel before these bones, and carefully cradle them in your hands. Take off your clothes and wrap them up, then leave this place immediately."
I glared at Madman Qinyao, my fists clenched tightly, wishing I could punch him hard enough to break his jaw and see if he would still dare to command me or play tricks on me.
For a fleeting second, I imagined Qin Ye cradling the bones in his hands, kneeling before them. I took his place in my mind, a sinister smile on my face as I coldly watched him complete the task.
A chilling howl echoed through the air—
The sharp cry of a Vicious Dog jolted me back to reality. Qin Ye shouted at me in frustration, "Hurry up! The pack of Vicious Dogs is coming!"
Who the hell was this? Why should I kneel and cradle those bones? My eyes burned with questions, anger, dissatisfaction, and indignation!
Yet under his relentless gaze, I had no choice but to kneel on the ground. I took off my clothes, pushed aside all distractions, and carefully placed the bones inside my clothing. The sound of the Vicious Dogs' paws pounding against the ground was unmistakable; my heart raced again. Without thinking twice, I grabbed the bundled clothing and sprang to my feet.
Damn it!
Madman Qinyao was quicker than me; by the time I stood up, he was already sprinting away. A horde of dark creatures charged towards me with bared fangs and claws. Qin Ye turned back to shout at me, "Call out the name of someone familiar with your heart's intent, and you'll be taken out of this place."
Heart's intent! In the Funeral Home, there was Fatty. I thought of him—Fatty, Fatty, Fatty—and in a daze, he actually appeared. But instead of leading me out, he was running alongside me as we fled for our lives.
I realized that the bones in my clothing were likely the source of the Vicious Dogs' hatred; otherwise, if I hadn't worn Qin Ye's ragged clothes this time, I would have become their target too. Fatty was so scared he wet himself; his pants were soaked and reeked of urine.
He cursed and complained, "Brother Qi, why are you calling me? I ended up in this terrifying ghost place because I grabbed you."
Damn! This is ridiculous. Fat Yang can't come into contact with anything heavy with Yin Qi or any creatures. I just dragged Madman Qinyao into this bizarre space, Evil Dog Village, and now I've pulled Fat in too.
The only way out is to quickly think of someone very strong who isn't afraid of the invasion of Yin Qi.
Han Mi!
No, that won't work. She was once disturbed by wandering spirits, and once someone is haunted by Yin spirits for too long, they can't recover; her body is very weak. I can't drag her into this.
Chi Xinrong, yes, that's her. This girl is always full of energy and has a fierce aura that a girl shouldn't possess.
"Chi Xinrong, Chi Xinrong, help!"
As I shouted, the menacing Vicious Dog suddenly turned into a puff of smoke and vanished from our sight. In an instant, everything returned to normal. The pure walls and floor tiles glistened, and the sound of flowing water filled the air. I heard Chi Xinrong's loud voice: "Brother Qi, what are you all doing? Taking a bath... three guys together? That's so disgusting."
I opened my eyes.
Madman Qinyao lay limp on the ground, completely unmoving.
Fat was soaked through, clinging tightly to my thigh. Ugh! Isn't that a bit too ambiguous?
I kicked him awake in disgust. He chuckled and let go, then saw Chi Xinrong and hurriedly tried to explain: "Rongrong, it's not what you think! I saw Brother Qi holding onto the madman without moving, so I quickly grabbed his legs too, and then... then I had a strange dream."
Chi Xinrong covered her mouth and giggled, ignoring Fat as she leaned closer to me: "So you think he's special? Turns out you like guys."
"Stop joking around! Quickly think of a way to wake up the madman."
Chi Xinrong raised an eyebrow and complained, "I don't want to do that. The madman is filthy; look, he doesn't even take off his clothes when he bathes." Then she glanced at my exposed, well-defined chest muscles. "What are you hiding under your clothes?"
My mind was still filled with the strange scenes I had just experienced. I had almost forgotten about it and hurriedly loosened my grip on the clothing bundle.
"This can't be shown to you," I said, fearing it might scare Chi Xinrong and also worried that the bundle contained bones of unknown origin. I needed to wait for Madman Qinyao to wake up and clarify things.
With Chi Xinrong's help, Fatty poured ginger soup into the madman's mouth and patted his cheeks. I alone carried the clothing bundle into the room, my heart pounding as I slowly opened it to take a look.
A pile of bones!
What the hell.
What I had seen earlier was indeed real. Who did these bones belong to? Damn it, without knowing who they were, I had once again acted as a filial grandson, kneeling down to wrap them up and bring them into the real world.
