Chapter 05: Zombie Spell 0

Lao Luo is truly a force to be reckoned with; he has some serious skills. 0

My ambusher is Zhu Gang. 0

The bones at the temples and between the eyebrows are only as thick as a one-yuan coin, making them vulnerable to sudden attacks that can lead to temporary unconsciousness. 0

Knocking me out wasn't enough; he stomped on me again, pressing a Soul-Restraining Talisman down, and then he was about to carry away my sister, who had been attacked by a ghost. 0

The key factor lies in Zhu Gang's Soul-Restraining Talisman and his actions. 0

Zhu Gang wanted to suppress me in the Dark Realm. If Lao Luo had been even a moment late, I would have been done for. 0

Unexpectedly, the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. 0

I owe my gratitude to Lao Luo for his keen observation. Seeing my misfortune, he sensed something was wrong. Naturally, he couldn't leave me alone at Chi Zhi Ping's house. After hanging up the phone, he rushed over and fortuitously saved me while also capturing the scoundrel Zhu Gang, who relies on deceit and trickery to get by. 0

Zhu Gang is truly the scum of the scum. 0

He doesn't even know where he learned those Evil Arts; his skills are lacking, yet he insists on helping Zuna raise ghosts to take revenge on Chi Zhi Ping for years of pent-up resentment. 0

Zhu Gang and my sister were taken away. 0

I was still at Chi Zhi Ping's house when he returned upon hearing the news. He found me unconscious on the floor with Lao Luo by my side. There was nothing much to do except check each room in the house, only to discover that Zuna had lied. 0

Zuna was entangled with an Evil Spirit and demanded to sleep separately from Chi Zhi Ping. 0

She was also entangled with the Evil Spirit, and Zhu Gang had promised her sister that he would resolve this matter within a week. However, things took a turn for the worse; the spirit became increasingly powerful, leaving Zuna unable to eat or sleep. 0

Just when she thought about going out to clear her mind, I arrived and blocked her inside the house, simultaneously uncovering her secret of raising spirits. 0

No one knew what Zuna was thinking, but it was clear that she was being tormented by the Evil Spirit. If it weren't for Lao Luo, she might have already lost her life. 0

From Lao Luo, I learned that the reason Zuna and her brother harbored such deep hatred for Chi Zhi Ping was due to the hardships they endured after losing their parents. Their resentment had built up over time and was bound to explode eventually. 0

Unfortunately, they had targeted the wrong person and ended up harming the innocent. 0

There was another thing I couldn't believe Lao Luo said. 0

It was something I didn't dare to face but had no choice but to confront. 0

When we stepped into Zuna's secret compartment, I was stunned by what I saw. 0

In a transparent and exquisitely crafted vessel lay a charred, bald head. 0

Next to the vessel was a crimson embossed Altar Table adorned with talismans. Just one glance at it sent chills down my spine. Surrounding the box were various treats that children loved. 0

I raised my hand, trembling as I spoke, "I see this head belongs to Zuna." 0

Lao Luo sighed and said, "Raising spirits, also known as Guman Tong. It has become quite popular in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and even on the mainland. Some celebrities also raise spirits. The benefits of raising spirits are real; it can ensure your wealth flows smoothly. However, this is not a normal path to wealth. When one goes against the natural order of things, they will face consequences. Those who raise spirits will ultimately meet a tragic end." 0

"Whose Ghost Head is this?" 0

“The Sixth Missing Person, Yin Yin…” 0

Lao Luo wrapped Ghost Head in a piece of bright red silk and planned to take it back to search for clues. He was particularly eager to find a way to open the gap regarding Zhu Gang, to uncover who was the instigator behind it all. He needed to find out quickly. 0

As we were making our way back to the Station, Lao Luo received a phone call informing him that Zhu Gang had died suddenly. 0

It was a sudden and unexpected death. 0

Sinister! 0

We hurriedly increased our pace towards the location of Zhu Gang's demise. 0

Upon arrival, we saw him with blood oozing from all seven orifices, his eyes bulging like those of an ox, with blood seeping from the corners. His limbs were stiff, and his body felt as hard as a stone slab. 0

Lao Luo looked at him and uttered three words: “Zombie Spell.” 0

The Zombie Spell is a terrifying curse. The victim is completely unaware when it is cast upon them. They could be drinking tea, eating, or smoking, and if they consume food that has been cursed with the Zombie Spell, it will trigger at the right moment, leaving no one able to save them. 0

I had never heard of the Zombie Spell before. Looking at Zhu Gang's lifeless body sent a chill creeping up my neck. 0

“Ma Qi, your task is daunting,” Lao Luo said with a meaningful look, his words carrying weight. 0

“What do you mean?” 0

Ignoring my question, Lao Luo confirmed that Zuna had been taken to the hospital and was under protection around the clock. Then he calmly said to me, “It’s nothing; let’s go check out your family’s Funeral Home.” 0

"I'm going, so what?" 0

"Damn it, Lao Luo even brought that Ghost Head along with Zhu Gang's body." 0

Fatty was back. When we returned, he was idly flipping through a trashy magazine. His sly, lustful eyes were glued to the pages featuring scantily clad actresses, drooling over them. 0

I was afraid of ringing the bell at the counter, so I cursed, "What the hell are you doing?" 0

Fatty looked up at me and then at Lao Luo. He quickly put down the magazine and stood up, bombarding Lao Luo with questions about whether someone had died at his place, how tall they were, whether they were fat or thin. It was like a rapid-fire barrage of questions that seemed never-ending. 0

Neither Lao Luo nor I had a chance to interject. 0

Finally, when Fatty paused, Lao Luo pointed to the car behind him and said, "Why don't you go measure their height and weight?" 0

Fatty scratched his chin, looking surprised. "How straightforward! You've even brought the dead along." Then he shot me a glance filled with admiration. 0

He admired my audacity in bringing the deceased's family to measure the body for a custom fit. 0

Fatty walked toward the car. 0

It was a specially designed hearse. 0

From the outside, there was nothing unusual about it. But when he opened the back door, the interior space was quite large, enough to accommodate three bodies of varying sizes side by side. 0

Fatty pulled open the rear door. 0

I figured that when he saw Zhu Gang's lifeless body, he would jump in shock, but strangely, he appeared calm instead. He pinched his nose and said, "Damn, this guy died in a pretty terrifying way." 0

I was speculating about Lao Luo's purpose in bringing the body to Ma Wu Funeral Home. Was he trying to do a good deed and take care of the funeral arrangements? 0

After all, Zhu Gang's only relative was Zuna. 0

And Zuna was in no condition to handle Zhu Gang's aftermath. 0

Naturally, Lao Luo thought of our Ma Wu Funeral Home for this matter. 0

Lao Luo also didn't expect the fat guy to be unafraid of Zhu Gang's corpse. 0

He joked, "Hey, Fatty, do you often carry bodies?" 0

Carry bodies! 0

I was taken aback. 0

But the fat guy grinned widely without any hesitation. "Yeah. Sometimes my grandpa takes me to deal with those corpses lying around in the wilderness. I just carry them to their destination." 0

Fatty! 0

Grandpa never told me about this. I always thought Grandpa favored Fatty and taught him many things. I never imagined he did this—carrying bodies. Just thinking about it sent chills down my spine. 0

The feeling of a cold corpse resting on your back is something I doubt anyone could bear, given the psychological terror it brings. 0

"Then you carry the body and put it in the coffin." 0

The fat man glanced at me, scratching his chin awkwardly. "Brother Qi, you see..." 0

I replied, "Lao Luo, this matter needs careful consideration. The body needs to be cleaned; it must enter the coffin spotless, so the spirit won't carry the dirt of the mortal world and appear there covered in sins." 0

Lao Luo waved his hand dismissively. "What are you two thinking? I just want to put the body in the coffin so that Ma Qi can deeply understand the details before his incident, and also this Ghost Head..." 0

I was taken aback! 0

Lao Luo's words shocked me. 0

Damn, putting the body in the coffin and having me lie down with it is something only a weirdo like him would think of. You have to know that when my grandfather was alive, I relied solely on water Mediumship to learn about the sufferings of the deceased and their stories, helping them fulfill their last wishes. 0

Seeing my expression change, Lao Luo grinned maliciously. "Are you scared?" 0
