Li Xue sat on the toilet, staring at her reflection in the mirror. It was the third day since she arrived in this world, and she still hadn't fully adapted to her new identity.
In her previous life, she was an urban white-collar worker—graceful and gentle, meticulous in her work. She had always lived a mundane life, believing she would continue on that path indefinitely. But then she crossed over.
She found herself in a parallel universe, becoming the cousin of her best friend, Chen Li. Chen Li was her childhood companion, and they shared a very close bond. In stark contrast to Li Xue's demeanor, Chen Li was lively and adventurous, her life brimming with excitement and novelty.
Li Xue envied Chen Li; she longed for the vibrant life that Chen Li led. Yet deep down, she knew she could never be like her friend—she would never possess that carefree spirit. In her past life, due to family circumstances, Li Xue had always lived a regimented existence. She grew up following the rules, studied diligently, and entered the workforce without deviation. She was always cautious, afraid of making mistakes and bringing shame to her parents.
She thought this would be her life forever until the unexpected happened—she crossed over.
Now, in this unfamiliar world, she had become someone else entirely. She had a new identity, a new life, new friends, and new family members. Everything was strange yet refreshing to her. She decided to distance herself from her past tragedies and seek out her own happiness.
Li Xue opened the bathroom door and stepped outside. She pushed open the door to room 669 and found it shrouded in darkness, completely empty. For a moment, she froze, realizing she might have made a mistake. She quickly apologized and turned to leave.
But before she could fully turn around, someone grabbed her wrist.
"Who are you?" the man asked coldly.
Li Xue jumped in surprise and struggled against his grip, but he was much stronger than she anticipated; she couldn't break free.
"Let go of me!" Li Xue shouted defiantly.
"Answer me!" he demanded sternly.
Li Xue bit her lip and replied firmly, "You need to let go of me first."
At her words, the man released his hold on her.
Li Xue immediately took a few steps back, warily watching the man. The room was too dark for her to see anything clearly; she could only make out the outline of his figure. He was tall, at least six feet tall, with a solid, muscular build that exuded a strong sense of pressure.
Li Xue swallowed hard and said softly, "I'm sorry, I must have taken a wrong turn." After speaking, she turned to leave. But just as she took a step, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Startled, Li Xue quickly looked up. The man held her wrist firmly and said coldly, "You're not an employee here."
"I'm not," Li Xue shook her head. "I came here to eat."
"Eat?" The man raised an eyebrow. "What are you eating?"
"Well..." Li Xue was about to explain when she suddenly realized, "What does it matter to you?"
"This is my private room," the man replied coldly.
"Oh," Li Xue responded dryly.
The man stared at her with piercing eyes. Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, she shifted her arm and asked, "Could you let go of me?"
Without answering, the man forcefully pulled her closer.
Caught off guard, Li Xue found herself falling into his embrace. He held her tightly and leaned down to kiss her lips.
Li Xue's eyes widened in shock as her mind went blank. She struggled fiercely, but the man held her even tighter. His kiss was intense, filling her mouth with his breath and leaving her gasping for air.
Desperate to break free, Li Xue fought against him in vain. Just when she thought she might suffocate, the man finally released her.
Li Xue gasped for breath, raising her head to glare at the man. "You bastard!"
The man licked his lips and smiled faintly. "Not bad."
"You—" Li Xue trembled with anger. "How can you treat me like this?!"
"This is your punishment," he said, his gaze icy. "Who told you to enter my room without permission?"
"That's sexual harassment!" Li Xue retorted angrily. "I could report you!"
"You can try," the man replied nonchalantly.
Li Xue gritted her teeth, wishing she could slap him. But she knew it would be futile; they were in a High-End Business Restaurant with a tight security system. If she made a scene, she would be the one to suffer.
Moreover, such matters were disgraceful, and she didn't want to escalate things.
Taking a deep breath to calm her fury, she looked at the man and said coldly, "Let go."
He stared at her without responding.
With a forceful shake, Li Xue freed herself from his grip and turned to run out.
The man didn't chase after her; he watched her retreating figure and stroked his chin.
"How interesting," he chuckled softly.
Li Xue burst out of the room and immediately shut the door behind her. She leaned against it, clutching her chest as her heart raced.
She had truly been terrified just moments ago. She never expected to encounter such a situation; had she known, she wouldn't have dared to use the restroom.
After calming herself down with a few pats on her chest, she turned and walked toward the other end of the corridor.
Unbeknownst to her, she had just entered the wrong room. The doorplate she had pushed open was 699 instead of 669.
The doorplates for 699 and 669 looked very similar; it was easy to mistake one for the other if not examined closely.
Arriving at the door of 669, Li Xue glanced at the plate again, confirming it was correct before pushing the door open.
Upon pushing the door open, she froze in place.
