Regardless, Reina's decision largely determined whether Shasha could complete the mission.
Having witnessed too much cruelty and slaughter, Shasha's mindset began to change along the way. From initially possessing a strong sense of justice, she became indifferent to death, even unconcerned about making certain sacrifices. Perhaps it stemmed from disappointment in humanity's misfortunes, but more so from rational thinking and self-interest.
People can change. The journey had been filled with emptiness, surprises, monotony, and eventually a sense of normalcy. Initially, she merely followed the powerful System's lead, but as time passed, she developed her own thoughts. The transformation of her mindset to this stage could not be easily explained in just a few words.
However, while she acknowledged this approach, Shasha had no intention of making any decisions for Reina. It would be up to Reina to decide whether to use Solar Flare or sacrifice some people.
Although Shasha had given up on persuasion, someone still came to request that she dissuade Reina. That person was none other than Glen, now the Earth God. Though he had matured considerably, he still relied too much on others. Perhaps it was because there were always people helping him make decisions.
"Brother Xia, if you could persuade Anna, that would be great. Her current thoughts are very dangerous."
Interrupting Glen with a wave of her hand, Shasha looked at him seriously. "Why don't you try persuading her yourself? You are the God of Earth now, with the ability to manipulate the void and turn the impossible into possible. So why not take action? Are you really content to hide behind others for your entire life? Why not try standing out on your own?"
If there were a protagonist in this world, it would be Glen. At least in Shasha's eyes, he had grown into a perfect protagonist template. As a protagonist, he needed to possess the attitude and abilities that came with it. He knew that once he resolved the issue with Tao Tie, he would leave this world; whether he would return in the future was uncertain. If a weak protagonist couldn't grow stronger, how could they face the greatest crises ahead?
Shasha didn't want to be anyone's caretaker. If it weren't for the System's restrictions, why should she risk her life for this world? The once-pure sense of justice had long been worn away.
Caught off guard by Shasha's words, Glen fell silent for a moment, replaying her statements in his mind. It had always been Reina or Rosa making decisions; he felt like a diligent worker bee without opinions—praise meant he was dutiful; criticism meant he was incompetent.
Why not become a leader? So that the woman he admired could see him in a new light?
Thoughts raced through his mind before solidifying into a determined expression. Glen nodded firmly at Shasha. "I understand now, Brother Xia!"
With newfound resolve, Glen left decisively, bringing a faint smile to Shasha's face. He did this not for anyone else but for that tiny spark of compassion within himself.
"So the plan is just abandoned? It was a great opportunity!" Liang Bing's teasing voice rang out.
Shasha slowly shook her head. "Let's just wait and see; there's no rush."
"Hmm? I didn't know you had such patience," Liang Bing said with a faint smile. "Since the plan is off, does that mean our partnership is over?"
"Why should it end?" Shasha feigned surprise. "I wouldn't want to face an enemy like you while dealing with Tao Tie. You know, no matter how powerful someone is, their abilities are still limited."
"Should I be appreciating you more?" Liang Bing stepped closer to Shasha, exhaling a breath of fragrance as she lifted Shasha's chin with her right hand, a seductive smile on her face. "Kesha has good taste; now I understand why she wants to keep you for her future heir, that Holy Left Wing."
This was the second time a woman had flirted with her. The first was Natasha, and now it was Liang Bing.
Shasha, no longer the naive girl from Wu, pulled Liang Bing into her embrace and leaned in closer to her exquisite face, speaking in an ambiguous tone. "So, what do you want to happen between us? I think my body can withstand your thirst for over ten thousand years."
Hearing this, Liang Bing snorted coldly and pushed Shasha away. "Are you implying I'm an old virgin?"
"That's the highest compliment; you're quite a rare existence in my eyes," Shasha shrugged and playfully added a truth: being a virgin is indeed hard to come by.
"I'll let it slide this time." With a somewhat proud huff, Liang Bing accepted the compliment.
From that point on, Glen had his epiphany. Under the name of Earth God, he arranged a meeting with Reina for negotiations. What they discussed remained unknown to anyone, but in the end, Glen convinced Reina to abandon the one-time cleansing plan and promised that within a month, Tao Tie would bow down and apologize to Reina. This was essentially equivalent to expelling Tao Tie from Earth.
Many wondered if it could really be done in a month. After all, several months had barely yielded any results, not to mention that the entire world and China were in a state of fragmentation.
Nevertheless, Earth had avoided a disaster, and many people breathed a sigh of relief.
“Are you not planning to come with me?” Reina asked, looking at Shasha, who was calmly heading in a different direction, with surprise.
“Um, you go ahead. I have other things to take care of,” Shasha replied apologetically. “I’m really sorry to back out, but there are some things I have to do on my own.”
“Is it with Morgana?” Reina glanced at the leisurely Morgana and frowned as she asked.
“Hey, girl, don’t drag me into this!” Liang Bing said innocently. This was Shasha’s decision; what did it have to do with her?
“Don’t think too much about it. What I need to do is something I must do,” Shasha sighed lightly.
Reina remained silent for a long time before she punched Shasha heavily on the chest. “No matter what, once you’re done, you must come back to see me!”
“I will definitely come back.”
