Everyone settled into the tent, but Rosa was absent. After some casual exchanges, Reina chose to get straight to the point. Her words created an awkward atmosphere, "I am not here as former Captain Xiong Bing Lian, but as the deity of Solaris Star, Sunlight, to impose punishment on Tao Tie."
Glen was taken aback by this statement. "What does that mean?"
"It means I will no longer resolve the issue of Tao Tie in the way you humans do. You have fought for so long without achieving any substantial results. This clearly indicates certain problems." Reina no longer viewed them as former companions; her transformation was significant. The capture of Tao Tie was a great humiliation for her, one that could only be washed away with blood. She had once failed to see things from the right perspective, but now it seemed she understood more.
Glen and the others realized that Reina was not there to reminisce but to confront them. Her words were uncomfortable to hear; although they were indeed true, there is a saying about not airing dirty laundry.
"Then, Your Excellency Sunlight, do you have any good solutions?"
A voice came from outside the tent; it was Rosa. She had been eavesdropping and couldn't help but interject upon hearing Reina's words, her tone laced with sarcasm.
Without turning around, Reina said calmly as Rosa entered the tent, "My solution is to launch a localized destructive attack on Earth using stellar flares. Naturally, some things will be lost in the process."
The people present were not fools; even Glen, who had once had the lowest education level among them, had learned physics and understood what stellar flares were and the extent of destruction they could cause. At that point, Earth might truly be left in ruins.
"I will never allow such a thing to happen!" Glen slammed his hand on the table and stood up, his expression icy. He looked at Reina with complex emotions—this was the captain who had once trained him. "I cannot sacrifice myself for the greater good!"
"I am not here to seek your consent; I am informing you as the deity of Solaris Star!" Reina's expression remained unchanged. She was eager to wash away her humiliation and instinctively overlooked other matters. There was another aspect that perhaps only Pan Zhen would understand.
That aspect was that reactivating the Sunlight gene within her would alter certain parts of her personality—essentially leading to a significant change in character. This gene was meant to gradually detach her from being human and from humanity itself. Thus, Reina was willing to make such a decision at any cost.
Everyone fell silent; they believed Reina would definitely go through with it. It was truly a case of misfortune striking when it rains.
After Reina left, she would return in three days. At that time, they hoped she would agree to or understand this approach and take corresponding measures, such as saving more civilians.
Once Reina was gone, Rosa bit her lip hard, her expression dark. "That guy brought back a ticking time bomb! I told you not to get involved in this matter; if you hadn't, there wouldn't be any trouble."
The others now somewhat agreed with her statement. Glen sighed and asked, "What should we do now?"
"What can we do? We still have to stay here and do nothing. Can we really stop that woman?" Rosa shot him a glare, then her face fell into a frown.
Zhao Xin, who had been silent until now, couldn't help but ask, "Is Reina really that terrifying? If she were truly that scary, she wouldn't have been captured by Tao Tie, right?"
Rosa and Glen didn't explain; clearly, they weren't in the mood. However, Zhi Xin beside them provided an explanation. "The flares caused by Stellar Energy, known as Solar Flares, are something Reina cannot control but can guide or trigger. These flares rapidly heat the area they erupt in to temperatures capable of vaporizing anything instantly and then spread various electromagnetic radiation outward. In short, if Reina were to do that, the number of habitable land and surviving humans on Earth would likely decrease drastically."
"So basically, there's no way to stop it?" Zhao Xin said impatiently. He then added, "Why not look for Brother Xia? If anyone can persuade Reina, it would probably be him."
Glen's eyes lit up at this suggestion. "Right! How did I not think of that? If it's Brother Xia, he could definitely convince Reina; after all, everyone knows about their relationship."
This statement displeased Rosa, but she had to admit it was true—at least the first half.
Reina returned to Liang Bing's base, maintaining her usual expressionless demeanor, resembling a corona—something rarely seen.
In the room, while others were caught up in battles, Shasha found her days surprisingly peaceful without Tao Tie around—no major fights, no exhaustion or tension, no responsibilities weighing down on her.
It felt as if she had repaid some debts; however, the truth was that those debts were far from settled.
"So, you went to find them and said all that?" Shasha looked at Reina with a strange expression.
Reina felt somewhat baffled. "Is there something wrong with that?"
"If you want to do it, then just go ahead and do it, just like you would for yourself. Why do you need to seek others' approval? I fear that deep down, you don't really want to do this," Shasha saw through Reina's thoughts in an instant. After all, a person's change of character requires a process; it cannot happen overnight. What she needed was a transformation that would make others willing to change for her, as doing this would go against her original intentions.
Hearing Shasha's words, Reina fell silent.
