"I am Liang Bing, a survivor of Giant Gorge City."
The woman before him was dressed in an alluring and provocative manner, clearly not the type to be trusted. The tension between her and Shasha made Rosa's expression turn cold.
"I am Du Rose. Do you know Shasha?"
The handshake was polite, laced with a hint of inquiry, appearing casual on the surface.
Liang Bing glanced at the expressionless Shasha and said meaningfully, "We've known each other for a long time."
Rosa raised an eyebrow and asked Shasha, "Is this your friend?"
Shasha shook her head. "I know her, but we're not close."
Liang Bing smiled seductively and suddenly leaned against Shasha's shoulder. "You saying that makes me quite sad, you know?"
Seeing their intimate gesture, Rosa's face darkened instantly, and she turned away without a word.
Once Rosa left, Shasha distanced herself from Liang Bing and said coolly, "What brings you here?"
"Of course, I'm here to find powerful warriors to serve me. As the Demon Queen's subordinate, I need capable followers, right? Besides, you did eliminate one of my subordinates; shouldn't you compensate me for that?"
As she spoke, Liang Bing leaned closer to Shasha's ear, her breath tantalizing.
But Shasha was not one to be easily swayed; she leaned back slightly and smirked coldly. "That Sword Demon Ato brought this upon himself. Also, strictly speaking, we are enemies now!"
"Can enemies not become friends? I could have allied with you humans, but you insist on portraying yourselves as righteous and refuse to 'sink to my level.' How laughable," Liang Bing scoffed. "Now that Holy Kaisa is dead, your alliance with the gods is in jeopardy; those fellows are too busy looking after themselves."
At this, Shasha glared at her fiercely. "Is Holy Kaisa's death related to you?"
"Well, I suppose I can be considered a witness. The plan was orchestrated by Death God Karl and his Tao Tie Legion. They triggered the Solar Empress's stellar drive capabilities, causing the explosion of Emerald Star that shattered Holy Kaisa's divine body into pieces."
Her nonchalant words caused Shasha and Huo Ran to change color. Huo Ran grabbed Liang Bing's flimsy top and coldly demanded, "Where is Reina?"
"Are you worried about your lover?" Liang Bing smiled more charmingly, completely unconcerned about Shasha's rudeness. "I won't tell you where she is. If you want to know, you'll have to beg me!"
Shasha fell silent and suddenly released Liang Bing. "I'll find her myself."
Watching Shasha's retreating figure, Liang Bing's charming smile faded, and her expression turned somewhat unpleasant.
Soon after, Yellowstone City was within reach.
For the surviving citizens and warriors, Yellowstone City meant they no longer had to live a life of wandering. Those caught in the turmoil of war often yearned for stability, even if the environment of Yellowstone City was not as good as that of Giant Gorge City.
Eager discussions, hushed exclamations, and cheers that could not hide their inner joy filled Rosa's ears with comfort. She had finally lived up to the trust everyone had placed in her and brought them to safety.
On the main road at the city gate, at the entrance of the fortifications, Lianfeng waited with various military officers stationed within the city.
When the two sides met, there was no need for pleasantries. As members of the South China Fleet, nothing could be more uplifting than encountering Xiong Bing Lian.
"Rosa, welcome!" The two good friends smiled brightly. Lianfeng then turned her gaze to Shasha. "Long time no see, Shasha. It's been almost a month since the River Battle and the Battle of the Great Canyon, hasn't it?"
"Who hasn't been through a lot?" Shasha sighed. So much had happened in this month that she was unaware of. "I really want to know about the current situation and the whereabouts of the South China Fleet. Can you share that with me?"
Lianfeng hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Once we go inside, I'll tell you."
After settling the citizens and assigning the soldiers to the city defense units, Shasha and Rosa led several officers to the conference hall.
On the way, Rosa voiced her curiosity. "Why did you ask about the South China Fleet?"
"Lianfeng is the second-in-command at headquarters, under your father’s command. She has no reason to act independently from the South China Fleet unless your father is dealing with some tricky issues that require her presence here to manage this chaotic situation. That's why I'm eager to know what exactly the South China Fleet has been doing that has led them to abandon their military engagements."
Shasha's words left Rosa deep in thought.
When everyone arrived in the conference room, Lianfeng took her seat at the head of the table. She surveyed those gathered around her and deliberately lingered on Rosa for a moment before speaking in a serious tone. "Previously, I was reluctant to explain the whereabouts of the South China Fleet because I didn't want to stir unrest among our troops. Now that morale has stabilized and the situation has temporarily eased, I believe it's time to inform you about what’s happening regarding Giant Gorge."
Lianfeng's expression was strange—strange enough to give everyone an unsettling premonition.
“Essentially, the Giant Gorge…” Lianfeng paused here, her expression filled with difficulty and a hint of sadness. Gritting her teeth as she looked at Rosa, she said, “It has already sunk!”
In an instant, Rosa felt as if she had been struck by lightning, sitting there in a daze as if she had lost her mind.
When Shasha heard this news, she also found it hard to believe. Could the vast South China Fleet really have been destroyed?
“What exactly happened? How could the South China Fleet be annihilated?”
Lianfeng sighed slowly. “To buy enough time to cover the evacuation of the citizens of Giant Gorge City, and to give you all time as well, the fleet missed the best opportunity to retreat. The attack from the Outer Devourer’s flagship instantly sank the Giant Gorge. Subsequently, wormholes appeared one after another, and the Wolf Star fleet descended. The remaining ships were all destroyed. I managed to escape because I needed to get the citizens of Giant Gorge City into Yellowstone City, but General Du…”
“Goodbye.” Rosa trembled as she stood up and staggered out of the conference room.
Shasha rose and followed her out.
