If there is anyone among the five subordinates of the Black Queen who is the most difficult to deal with, it would undoubtedly be Red Devil Asazuo.
Just look at his abilities: immortality, teleportation, shapeshifting, mind control, and energy attacks. This guy is practically a one-man army, which is why he has been chosen by the Black Queen to oversee her intelligence department.
He is like a walking database of information, and his abilities are incredibly elusive.
Card King’s decision to target him first is puzzling; perhaps he wants to showcase his own capabilities?
With this doubt in mind, Shasha and Felicia followed Card King to the hotel where Asazuo was staying.
"You two stay outside and keep watch. I’ll go in and lure him out. If he hasn’t come out in half an hour, you can rush in," Card King said before entering the hotel.
Shasha and Felicia exchanged glances, both seeing the helplessness reflected in each other's eyes.
"I can't shake the feeling that this guy is a bit unreliable," Felicia frowned.
Shasha shook her head slowly. "Let’s wait and see. But even if we catch him, I doubt we’ll get much information out of him. After all, he knows very well what happens when you betray the Black Queen."
Felicia nodded and turned her gaze toward the hotel.
Once inside the building, Card King didn’t take the elevator but instead used the emergency stairs, quickly climbing to the 18th floor and stopping outside Asazuo's room, remaining perfectly still.
He was listening, attuned to any sounds from within. If he startled Asazuo, the man would likely escape, so he needed to act swiftly and decisively.
Inside the room, Asazuo sat motionless in front of the television as if it held some great allure. In reality, he was keenly aware of any movements outside; after all, having made such a bold move during the day, he certainly wouldn’t believe that White Queen wouldn’t send someone after him.
At this moment, their group of five was a thorn in White Queen's side. If she didn’t respond, she wouldn’t be White Queen at all.
So he waited—confident that he could escape if necessary and equally confident that he could handle any visitors.
Ten minutes passed without movement from either side.
When the clock ticked past 11 minutes and 1 second, Card King made his move. He pulled out a deck of cards from his pocket and shot them through the door in unison. The next moment, a series of explosions erupted from within the room, lasting for a full minute.
The commotion startled other guests and hotel management alike; alarms blared throughout the corridor.
Card King kicked open the door with force, transforming four short sticks at his waist into a single long metal staff in an instant.
Upon entering the room, all that could be seen was a mess, with no sign of anyone. Had they escaped? Not quite!
With a sudden 'whoosh', a long staff swept to the side, followed by a loud 'bang' as energy exploded. A figure burst through the floor-to-ceiling window and plummeted straight down from the 18th floor.
Witnessing this scene, Card King leaped down, showing no fear of the height.
Asazuo transformed into black smoke, weaving through the air, and moments later landed unscathed. Looking up at Card King, who was still falling, his eyes flashed with blue light as an invisible force surged forth in an instant!
Before the energy arrived, a fierce wind rushed in!
Sensing the impending energy strike, Card King swiftly produced several playing cards from his chest. With a loud 'bang', the energy dissipated just as he landed, both sides now facing each other.
From a distance, Shasha couldn't help but admire Card King's skills; he truly was someone worthy of White Queen's trust.
At that moment, Felicia quietly asked, "Should we go out?"
Shasha shook her head. "It's better not to go out for now; we don't want to scare him away. The only reason Asazuo hasn't fled yet is that he believes he can handle Card King. But if we show ourselves, he'll definitely escape."
Felicia nodded, and just then, the standoff finally erupted into action.
Asazuo instantly moved behind Card King and drew a sharp knife, aiming directly at his back.
Card King spun around with his staff, forcing Asazuo back. Just as he was about to advance, he realized Asazuo had vanished again.
'Swish!'
The flash of the knife left a cut on Card King's cheek. He wiped it away, his expression turning furious in an instant.
In the next moment, playing cards flew out from all directions around him, dense as a Rodi Net.
However, he still spotted Asazuo; none of the cards hit their mark, and Asazuo's knife was already pressed against Card King's back.
"Card King truly lives up to his name," Asazuo's voice rang out with a hint of mockery and regret. "But unfortunately for you, you’ve met me."
Card King's face twitched as anxiety crept in; why hadn’t Shasha and Felicia made their move yet? Were they really going to just watch him get taken down?
Just as Asazuo prepared to strike decisively, a playing card suddenly knocked the knife from his hand.
He teleported a few meters away and looked toward the shadows, where Shasha emerged, holding the cards that Card King had thrown earlier.
With narrowed eyes, Asazuo said nothing and vanished, intending to escape.
However, how could Shasha allow him to leave unscathed? With a fierce grip of his left hand in the air, a sound like shattering glass echoed, and Asazuo was forcefully ejected from the void, his face filled with disbelief.
Seeing this scene, Card King couldn't help but stare in shock. He never expected Shasha to possess the ability to disrupt space. He recalled that he had to fight him earlier; surely his own abilities were just child's play in Shasha's eyes? No wonder White Queen relied on him so heavily while also needing to guard against him. With this thought, he couldn't help but smile wryly. He prided himself on his exceptional abilities and had never been defeated since his debut, yet here he was, suffering two setbacks in a row.
If the conflict with Asazuo was due to a suppression of abilities, then Shasha was purely demonstrating an overwhelming superiority in power.
Afterward, the unconvinced Asazuo attempted to teleport again, only to be repelled by Shasha once more. He finally understood that he had lost his greatest means of escape; facing two opponents now, he was no match for them.
Thus, when Felicia appeared and captured him, he allowed it without resistance. Though physically restrained, he kept his thoughts guarded, knowing that if they intended to extract information from him, they would have to consider his ability to withstand torture.
