Upon hearing Shasha's voice, Elizabeth couldn't help but smile. After nodding apologetically at the person nearby, she walked over to Shasha's side and complained lightly, "Where have you been? Did you really need to take so long for a discussion?"
"Sorry, but there were indeed some disappointments that needed addressing," Shasha replied with an apologetic smile.
Just as the two were about to leave, a middle-aged man behind them turned coldly, observing their cheerful demeanor. A glint of malice flashed in his eyes. "Sister Elizabeth, if you don't like me, you don't need to find someone to humiliate me, do you? Am I not worthy of you, Justin Hammer?"
Hearing such an impolite question, Elizabeth lost her patience and retorted with a cold laugh, "Mr. Justin Hammer, please understand that I am his companion. Is this how you conduct yourself?"
"Etiquette? When you have power and money, what does etiquette matter? You brought out some Asian monkey to insult me, and a woman like you who thinks she has status is just a few extra bills in my eyes."
Justin Hammer sneered, his words dripping with disdain and insults towards both of them.
Elizabeth was furious and about to speak when Shasha stopped her. She looked at him in confusion as he suddenly approached Justin Hammer with a smile. "What did you just call me?"
Justin Hammer maintained his mocking demeanor, pointing a finger at Shasha's nose. "What? Are you threatening me? I called you an Asian monkey. If you didn't hear it clearly, I'll say it again: Asian—"
Before he could finish, Shasha grabbed the hand pointing at him and twisted it violently. A scream pierced through the ambient music as everyone turned their attention to the corner where the infamous chairman of Hammer Industries was being held down in pain. "Do you know who I am? I am the chairman of Hammer Industries! I will sue you until you're bankrupt and become a beggar worse than a homeless person!"
The more he cursed, the harder Shasha twisted his hand as if he intended to completely dislocate it.
The music stopped abruptly, and the crowd erupted in chaos. The wealthy elites who had previously disapproved of Elizabeth's association with Shasha began to shout for him to stop or murmured about how barbaric he was, acting as if he had no right to be in such a prestigious place.
"This gentleman," the crowd parted as Obadiah Stane, vice chairman of Stark Industries, hurried over. "We can resolve this matter calmly; please release Mr. Justin Hammer."
"I don't like being threatened. This guy insulted me today and even tried to intimidate me; so I'm sorry," Shasha said nonchalantly before giving a sharp twist that left the already unconscious Justin Hammer in a contorted state.
Seeing Justin Hammer in such a pitiful condition left the crowd in disbelief as they collectively gasped.
They never imagined someone would dare to strike Justin Hammer at Tony Stark's gala; this undoubtedly offended two military-industrial giants. It seemed likely that once this event ended, he would be targeted for assassination—something they felt no remorse over since it didn't concern them.
Soon after, medical personnel arrived to carry Justin Hammer away. Obadiah approached Shasha with a serious tone. "Sir, you are not allowed to leave until Mr. Justin Hammer regains consciousness."
With that, he waved his hand, signaling several bodyguards to surround Shasha completely.
Facing the unmistakable intent of Obadiah to keep her there, Shasha smiled and gestured to Elizabeth that there was no need to worry.
However, how could Elizabeth not be worried? The concern was practically written all over her face. "You, do you even realize what you've done? Even if you wanted to teach him a lesson, it didn't have to be this severe! He definitely won't let this go. Seriously, why do you act so impulsively?"
Shasha chuckled at her words. "Come on, don't forget that we're not ordinary people."
"Even so, that guy has a lot of power, you know?" Elizabeth rubbed her temples in frustration. She felt both touched by Shasha standing up for her and exasperated by her recklessness.
Just as Elizabeth was at a loss, while Obadiah maintained order, and Shasha remained silent with a smile, the main character of the ball appeared. Tony, accompanied by his assistant Pepper Potts, strolled confidently up to Obadiah.
"Uncle Stan, this is my friend, Mr. Samar!"
The implication of his words was clear: he wanted Obadiah to let Shasha go.
Naturally, Obadiah refused. " Tony, this guy injured Justin Hammer. Do you really want us to be at odds? Don't forget, we have several projects in collaboration."
"I don't care; he's my friend!" Tony replied firmly, glaring coldly at Obadiah. "The collaborative projects can be canceled. I can treat his injuries if needed. If he wants trouble, let him come find me. So, can you let my friend go now?"
After a long silence from Obadiah, he finally patted Tony on the shoulder with either frustration or relief. "You've finally grown up!"
With that, he waved his hand at the bodyguards surrounding Shasha, and they dispersed.
Relieved, Tony approached Shasha with Pepper, looking apologetic. "I'm sorry; I didn't expect something like this to happen while I was gone for just a moment. That guy, Justin Hammer, is just like that—looks like a gentleman but is worse than a thug. I've never respected him."
Shasha waved her hand dismissively. "It's not your fault; I acted impulsively too. I'm not worried about myself; I think you should be more concerned about yourself. Aren't you afraid those two will team up?"
Seeing the serious expression on Shasha's face, Tony frowned slightly. "Now that you mention it, that's actually quite possible."
"Better prepare yourself; I'm leaving now." With a wave of her hand, she turned and walked away with a bewildered Elizabeth.
"Wait!" Tony called out to Shasha. As she turned back in confusion, he pulled out a beautiful set of keys from his pocket and tossed them to her. When she caught them, he smiled and said, "I remember you don’t have a car yet? Consider this part of repaying you for your kindness."
"Do you think this will repay my favor? You really are something," Shasha said, taking the car keys without hesitation and leaving the venue with Elizabeth in a huff.
The people around them were puzzled by the familiarity between Shasha and Tony, whispering among themselves.
Pepper, curious as ever, directly asked, "When did you become friends with her? I've never seen you be this nice to anyone else."
"Since she's a friend, why should we worry about anything else?" Tony teased, pinching Pepper's cheek with a smirk. "But don't you think she's quite likable?"
Pepper rolled her eyes. "Indeed, just as arrogant as you are."
It was undeniable; Pepper had a keen eye for people. If Tony's arrogance was merely superficial, then Shasha's was deeply ingrained. Otherwise, how could they have become friends in such a short time?
This is what they call birds of a feather flock together.
