Shasha had given serious thought to how a villain's reputation should be earned.
A villain's reputation was not something that could simply be obtained by defeating a few superheroes or committing a handful of evil deeds. If that were the case, the shop would have been unlocked long ago. After much contemplation, Shasha finally discovered a direction.
Forming a villainous organization!
If you were to ask Daredevil or Spider-Man who they despised the most, they would undoubtedly tell you: Jin Bing!
Why? There are many villains out there, some even more powerful than Jin Bing, yet he is the one who garners such hatred.
It’s because this guy has always operated in plain sight, making it impossible for anyone to do anything about him—even S.H.I.E.L.D. cannot touch him. He controls the economic lifeblood of America and understands that to survive longer, he must hold more power in his hands. Thus, his criminal enterprise grew larger and larger, expanding his territory until his crime syndicate became an indelible tumor on America—one that couldn’t be excised.
From this realization, Shasha was inspired to establish the Skull Society, intending to replace Jin Bing and develop his own influence.
When San Francisco fell under his control, he knew he had made the right bet as the System's voice echoed in his mind.
"Host has activated the faction template and gained 500 points of villain reputation."
"Faction: Skull Society."
"Territory: America - San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta."
"Subordinate factions: Hippies (Toc Gang), Fox Hunting Team (Frank), Cobra Unit (Target Eye)."
"Villain reputation points: 500."
Looking at the information displayed on his retina and the map of his territory, Shasha then opened the Villain Reputation Store. Sure enough, four items appeared before him, each more astonishing than the last.
The first item was a power called Super Throwing, which granted the ability to throw any object with perfect accuracy.
The second item was a bloodline known as Second Generation Vampire Bloodline.
The third item is a gene known as the Super Spider Gene.
The fourth item is a serum called Reptilian Serum.
Yes, these four items are becoming increasingly familiar; they are essentially the powers of those individuals Shasha has encountered before: Target Eye, Spider-Man, Daken, and Kurt Connors.
So, does this mean that the Villain Reputation Store sells the powers of those he has defeated? Regardless of whether they are heroes or villains?
At that moment, Shasha suddenly understood. No wonder normal ability extraction could never yield powers from the Marvel Universe; it turns out the Villain Reputation Store collects these powers. With this realization, his heart raced with excitement. If he could defeat all the powerful figures in Marvel, wouldn't he have countless enticing powers to exchange for himself?
Another path to becoming stronger had opened up!
Developing influence! Completing missions! Heroic Reputation! Villain Reputation! As Shasha marveled at the wonders of the Great Universe System, his heart burned with anticipation for the future.
In the future, he could earn Heroic Reputation by completing missions issued by the System in the guise of Yama, while simultaneously developing influence and accumulating Villain Reputation as Liquid Snake. It was truly a case of having it both ways!
However, the only regret was that these abilities were meant for his own use. But then again, if anyone could become Spider-Man, wouldn't that throw the entire world into chaos?
Unable to contain his excitement, Shasha walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and gazed at the night view of San Francisco. His eyes couldn't help but wander further afield, and a determined smile crossed his lips. "I will take control of all America!"
Desire breeds ambition; the once timid and reclusive Shasha was gone forever.
Half a month later, the Skull Society was rapidly expanding its influence. With two initial teams as its spearhead, it continuously broadened its reach while also using money to corrupt officials and clear obstacles. In just this short time, many cities changed hands; gangs were either eliminated or absorbed, allowing their power to become the second-largest underground force in America.
Jin Bing was naturally aware of this situation. If he still didn't know about the reshuffling of underground forces in America by now, he would not deserve to be called the underground emperor of America.
With the rise of the Skull Society, Jin Bing felt threatened for the first time by such a serious provocation. However, he dared not recklessly initiate conflict; even if he could bear the consequences, it was not something he wished to see.
But remaining inactive was never his style, so he had to take other measures.
Just as Jin Bing was quickly pondering over issues concerning the Skull Society while turning his cigar, the door unexpectedly swung open without a knock. He saw one of his most capable subordinates, Puzzle, whose face looked like a patchwork of rags, displaying intense anger.
"What has you so anxious?"
Jin Bing never showed urgency, even when he felt the situation was tricky. This was a psychological quality essential for a qualified schemer—remaining calm even when faced with imminent danger.
"The Skull Society's gang is constantly causing trouble on my turf. Boss, you need to give me a solution: should we fight or negotiate?" Puzzle leaned heavily on the desk, staring intently at Jin Bing's lips.
A puff of smoke slowly escaped as Jin Bing appeared relaxed, as if he hadn't taken the matter to heart. After a moment, he finally spoke calmly, "Negotiation."
"Negotiation?" Puzzle exclaimed in disbelief. "Those guys are already at our doorstep, and you want me to negotiate?"
Ignoring the rude question and observing the anger on Puzzle's face, Jin Bing chuckled lightly. "It's not you who will negotiate; I will send a representative. So just stay put on your turf! Until the negotiation is over, you are not to step outside even once. Otherwise, you know what I'm capable of!"
As his words fell, Puzzle felt an overwhelming presence akin to that of a king of beasts, nearly suffocating him. All the disrespectful words he had intended to say were swallowed back down, transforming into a respectful, "Understood."
