It turns out that humans are indeed social animals. Shasha had lived alone for twenty years without feeling out of place, but ever since Erika left, he found himself struggling to adapt in just a few days. 0

Fortunately, there was still Li Qianhuan around, which prevented Shasha from feeling too lonely. 0

Today marked the second month of Shasha's job. Although he often slacked off, it was undeniable that his professional skills kept him at the forefront of the industry. Not only did his boss value him, but his colleagues also envied him. However, none of this concerned him much; due to his outstanding performance, his boss assigned him to help a new colleague get acquainted with the business. 0

Natalie Ivanov, a Russian, had just graduated from an Ivy League school and was new to the company. 0

With a name reminiscent of a goddess from a past life, she appeared to Shasha as nothing more than a plain woman. To him, this recent graduate looked rather stiff and unremarkable. 0

She wore thick black-framed glasses and had short hair, her face dotted with freckles and dressed conservatively—easily overlooked. 0

"You’re new here, so you don’t need to develop clients yet; just familiarize yourself with our processes," Shasha instructed. 0

Natalie nodded earnestly in response to Shasha's guidance, displaying a strong desire to learn that made him feel relieved. However, no matter how he looked at her, she seemed a bit foolish. 0

Training newcomers was a painful process. Many seasoned employees were reluctant to take on new hires because they tended to ask numerous questions. When they encountered something unfamiliar, it could be frustrating for those who already knew the answers. This often led to impatience. Shasha was no exception; he just hid his emotions well. 0

As time passed, Shasha rubbed his forehead, appearing fatigued. 0

Noticing his expression, Natalie timidly asked, "Mr. Samar, am I too stupid?" 0

You really are quite foolish! Shasha held back this thought and forced a smile. "Of course not; I’m just feeling a bit tired." 0

She naturally assumed that Shasha was genuinely exhausted. 0

Fortunately, it was time to clock out. Almost escaping the office, Shasha didn’t notice the sly glint in Natalie’s eyes hidden behind her thick glasses as she watched his retreating figure. 0

After leaving the company, Shasha planned to find a restaurant to fill his stomach. As he walked down the streets of Brooklyn and was about to enter a restaurant, a sudden scream startled him. Turning around, he saw a masked robber pointing a gun at an elderly man inside a car—clearly attempting a robbery. This scene stunned him momentarily before his expression shifted dramatically. 0

"Take it easy, buddy. If you want money, I have some here," the old man tried to keep the robber calm, noticing how much more nervous the thief appeared. 0

"I don't need much, just a little bit," the robber swallowed hard, cold sweat trickling down his neck that the mask couldn't conceal. He raised his gun while anxiously scanning the surroundings. 0

At that moment, someone had already picked up the phone to call the police. This clearly agitated him; he chambered a bullet and stammered, "I just want a little bit, I swear." 0

The old man, facing such a situation, felt a bitter smile forming inside him as he hurriedly handed over the cash from his pocket to the robber. 0

However, the robber was in a state of extreme instability and didn't even take the money from the old man's hand. The gun wavered in his trembling grip. 0

The old man could see that the robber's finger was almost on the trigger. He sadly realized he had no way to escape. Thoughts of his wife preparing dinner at home and his ambitious nephew flashed through his mind, and he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. 0

At that moment, the robber's tension reached a breaking point. He unconsciously placed his hand on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment. 0

The situation became critical; many onlookers held their breath, hoping someone would step forward. 0

Suddenly, police sirens blared as officers arrived in response to the report. The sound startled the robber, and instinctively, he pulled the trigger. A gunshot rang out, instantly silencing the bustling street. 0

Many people thought to themselves that it was over for the old man; he was doomed. 0

However, when they looked closer at the scene, they found the robber unconscious on the ground while the old man remained unharmed. 0

The crowd exchanged confused glances, unable to comprehend what had just happened or why the robber had suddenly collapsed. 0

As police approached to take away both the robber and the old man, people gradually dispersed. Only one figure remained standing quietly in place. After a long moment, he inexplicably smiled and then walked towards the restaurant he had intended to eat at earlier. 0

The one who saved the old man was Shasha, who had used her Quake Fruit ability to knock out the robber and thus saved his life. 0

In that instant of saving the old man, she unexpectedly gained a small amount of hidden Reputation points. 0

“Reputation function activated.” 0

“America Reputation: 10.” 0

“World Reputation: 0.” 0

Seeing only a meager 10 points of Reputation, Shasha was not surprised. After all, she had not interacted with many people, and those who knew her were from secretive organizations; it was strange to have any Reputation at all. 0

However, after asking the System, Shasha discovered that Reputation was indeed a valuable asset. It not only influenced how others perceived her but could also be exchanged for abilities or items. 0

The items in the Reputation Store were varied and numerous, many of which were abilities or items from movies, anime, or games. However, the cheapest ones required at least 1000 Reputation. 0

Looking at the plethora of desirable items that were out of reach, Shasha couldn't help but smile wryly while also feeling a rising desire to grind for Reputation. It would also help her complete the task for Main Quest Three. 0
