That night, Shasha returned to the apartment where she was temporarily staying, and the owner of the apartment was, of course, Erika.
Since Erika's hands had not yet healed, Shasha took care of her daily needs, including meals.
After placing dinner on the table, Shasha loosened her tie and curiously glanced at Erika, who was fiddling with her computer. "Hey, girl, is there something that can't wait until after dinner?"
"Come over and take a look at this," Erika beckoned Shasha over.
As Shasha approached, she saw an image on the computer screen related to mutants.
Currently, information about mutants was only known to a select few. After all, many things couldn't be made public as they could easily cause panic among the majority. It's important to note that there were quite a number of mutants around the world.
"Do mutants really exist?" Erika asked with curiosity. Although she had been an assassin in the past, she had never encountered such matters. Even her ex-boyfriend Daredevil had heightened senses compared to ordinary people but still fell short of surpassing them. Naturally, she was intrigued by mutants.
Shasha understood well that this world was full of wonders; after all, she had just encountered one. Not long ago, Richard had turned out to be a mutant as well. He had once said meaningfully, "This world is so vast that there are always things we cannot comprehend."
"That's true," Erika nodded.
"Alright, let's eat quickly. After dinner, I still need to change your bandages."
Their relationship was one that hovered between friendship and something more—partners? Not quite, since Erika wasn't currently working and they hadn't collaborated on anything. In reality, it felt more like a couple living together.
After changing the bandages, Shasha urged Erika to rest while she logged into a website on the computer.
This website was established by underground assassins in America; many assassins took jobs through it. Of course, they could also choose to pick up jobs at assassin hubs, but that came with exposure risks.
The website had been given to Shasha by Erika, and he had created an account for himself as well. Compared to Erika's extensive profile, his achievements were pitifully few; after all, he could only be considered a novice.
Despite the professionalism of the site, Erika had taken on many jobs through it. One particular individual was quite notorious—his name was Wade Wilson!
This name might sound unfamiliar to many; however, what about another one?
Deadpool!
That's right, the irreverent and foul-mouthed anti-hero, Deadpool, is a character with an unconventional charm.
Shasha really likes Deadpool. In his previous life, before he had ever crossed over, Deadpool had a movie released. Despite the many bloody scenes, it was hard to resist his unique appeal, leaving viewers both exhilarated and in fits of laughter.
As a high-ranking assassin on this site, Deadpool has completed thousands of missions. Of course, his choice of tasks is quite peculiar, but considering his personality, it makes sense.
However, Shasha hasn't forgotten why he logged onto the site; his feud with Jin Bing is far from over.
Not long ago, Jin Bing made a drastic decision to abandon many of his assets to preserve his reputation. As the one who had caused him such trouble, Shasha certainly doesn't believe he would be let off easily.
Thus, whenever there’s a mission related to Jin Bing, he takes it on.
Since completing the second main quest, no new ones have opened up. However, the System has provided Shasha with another way to accumulate ability points: by eliminating these villains.
That's right—killing, not just injuring!
Ever since Shasha had his epiphany and broke his killing ban last time, the mental barriers have vanished, even though he remains unaware that Target Eye is still alive.
A low-level villain isn't worth a basic ability extraction; it takes a hundred of them to accumulate enough for one. However, killing a strong opponent—someone notable—counts as one basic extraction. Accumulating ten basic extractions allows for one intermediate extraction, and zero intermediate extractions can be exchanged for one advanced extraction, and so on.
Want to grow stronger? No problem—complete missions or become an assassin.
For an ordinary person, there might be psychological barriers against killing. But having experienced the harsh realities of life, Shasha knows that mercy towards enemies is cruelty towards oneself. Besides, no one would pity those scumbags even if they died.
Back to Shasha: at this moment, he is fully focused on the mission listings, preparing to select a few.
However, he hasn't noticed that the door to his room has quietly opened. A figure clad in tight-fitting bat-like attire has stealthily slipped inside without making a sound.
With his back turned to the door, Shasha remains oblivious to the approaching presence, his gaze fixed on the computer screen.
The figure stopped just three steps away from Shasha and slowly closed its eyes.
At that moment, Shasha felt something unusual, as if his brain had been struck hard, the pain nearly causing him to faint. Then he heard a faint sound and turned to see Isabella, who had been dining with him, collapsed on the ground.
"What’s going on?"
Shasha stared in shock, completely unaware of what had just happened in his mind.
The System residing in Shasha's brain immediately countered when it sensed Isabella's mental intrusion. Such a force was beyond what Isabella could withstand. As the host, Shasha was also affected, but fortunately, the aftershock was minimal; otherwise, he too would have succumbed to unconsciousness.
Though he couldn't understand what had just occurred, it was clear that Isabella was not to be trifled with.
Was it all just to keep her secrets hidden? Shasha couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
