The outbreak of the Zombie Virus had left leaders around the world in a state of panic. To make matters worse, a scandal had erupted within the hospital involving someone who was supposed to be safeguarding the facility. Surveillance footage revealed that the perpetrator was none other than the renowned Li Wen.
This put Mukai in a difficult position. Li Wen's reputation and standing in the hospital were unparalleled. Reluctantly, Mukai decided to place Li Wen under house arrest, hoping that through persuasion and guidance, he could coax him into revealing who he had given the Gene Vaccine to.
However, despite his best efforts—both gentle and forceful—Mukai could not extract even a hint of information from Li Wen, who was as stubborn as a mule.
Such a significant incident, with fifty vials of Gene Vaccine Protein slipping through their fingers, left them in a precarious situation. Without solid evidence, they dared not take any drastic measures against Li Wen and continued to keep him under soft confinement while searching for solutions.
After Li Wen was secretly detained by the hospital, news broke about an incident involving a young nurse who had tragically died at home. Local media rushed to report on the innocent nurse's untimely demise.
Strange events unfolded one after another, leading to rampant speculation within the hospital. Opinions varied widely; some claimed that Li Wen had sold the fifty vials of Gene Vaccine Protein for a high price, while others suggested he had given them away as favors. With so many conflicting stories circulating, Li Wen found himself unable to defend himself.
Then, someone with ulterior motives leaked information that before the Gene Vaccine Protein went missing, Li Wen had been frequently meeting with Lin Yu. Desperate for leads, Mukai wasted no time and drove straight to find Lin Yu.
Few knew that Lin Yu had moved recently.
As Li Wen was her teacher, he would surely know where she had gone. After being turned away at Lin Yu's new residence, Mukai quickly realized this and sped off to connect with Li Wen.
However, during Li Wen's house arrest, all communication devices were confiscated from him. Even his involvement in the newly initiated Gene Vaccine artificial synthesis project was denied.
Mukai managed to connect with someone stationed near Dr. Li Wen and requested that they pass him a headset.
Li Wen responded curtly, "What is it?"
"Of course, it's about your good student..."
Li Wen's tone shifted to one of urgency. "What happened to her?"
"When did she move?"
"I... I don't know..."
Seeing Mukai's startled expression at his evasive answer, Li Wen refused to provide further details. The atmosphere grew tense as Mukai furrowed his brow and waited in silence.
After some contemplation, Mukai spoke in a vague tone as if making small talk. "Look, buddy, these are extraordinary times. I haven't alerted any other relevant departments; I just want to protect your student. Before the media gets involved and starts sensationalizing this story, we need to recover those fifty vials of Gene Vaccine Protein. I won't hold you accountable for anyone involved in this; it's only human nature to want to help."
"I didn't give her the Gene Vaccine Protein."
Mukai let out a cold snort. "When did I say you gave the Gene Vaccine to the student?"
This was Mukai's usual tactic of feigned ignorance. Li Wen was taken aback; how had he not considered this before speaking? At this point, he couldn't continue to argue. He also knew that Wen Kai admired Lin Yu; otherwise, he wouldn't have avoided the hospital's other staff and gone alone to see Lin Yu.
"She's in the outskirts of Huangmei Town."
"Got it." Mukai hung up but inadvertently noticed a vehicle that seemed to be following him. He deliberately slowed down to test the waters, and the car behind him also began to decelerate.
"Autopilot, switch to overdrive." Mukai calmly activated the autopilot system and pulled out a gun from the side drawer. The 90MM pistol was compact yet powerful, agile and lightweight, easy to handle. He needed to be prepared; this was a personal weapon specially assigned to him by the relevant authorities.

The pursuing vehicle continued its chase, something Mukai had not anticipated. Focused solely on what lay ahead, he failed to notice a concept silent aircraft descending from above, hovering over his car, with a loudspeaker instructing him to pull over.
Mukai couldn't resist because it was from the International Alliance Talent Agency. He had no choice but to stop his car by the roadside and wait for the following vehicle to come up for inspection.
There was no one in his car, but it wouldn't be difficult for them to extract information about Lin Yu from Mukai.
The Luo Wei family's villa hadn't opened its doors for several days, and nearby residents were unaware of where the occupants had gone. However, from what could be seen inside, everything was neatly arranged, showing no signs of a hasty departure.

"That's what I want to know too. You're a doctor; you should have a compassionate heart. Tell me, is your patient female or male?" The imposing officer's gaze was sharp and aggressive.
Was he suspecting that Lin Yu was infected with the V2 Zombie Virus? As far as Mukai and his team knew about her situation, it was extremely limited. Therefore, Xiao Qiang had never appeared on their radar, and even Li Wen didn't know who Lin Yu's partner was.
“N! She isn’t.”
“Then if she isn’t, it must be him?” The stern officer handed a group photo to Mukai. “Is this him?”
Mukai took the photo and examined it closely. In the picture, a happy couple embraced each other; the woman was Lin Yu, and the man… “I’m sorry, I don’t recognize him.”
A soldier strode out of the villa, his gloved hand discreetly handing the officer a small piece of paper he had found in the trash bin. It was the pregnancy test that Lin Yu had left behind, along with a handful of black feathers. He exclaimed, “Sir, we found this.”
“Doctor, take a look at this paper,” the officer suggested, indicating for the soldier to pass it to Mukai.
At first glance, Mukai recognized it as a female pregnancy test. It seemed Lin Yu’s leave of absence was genuine; she was pregnant. But who was her partner? Could it be that charming man in the photo?
Feeling slightly flustered, Mukai adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat. “She’s pregnant.”
“Oh?” The officer didn’t seem angry upon hearing that Lin Yu was pregnant; in fact, he appeared quite pleased. He whispered a few words to another officer who had been silently standing by with his hands clasped behind his back.
Seeing their mysterious demeanor made Mukai’s heart race; he couldn’t help but wonder what these people were planning.
