As the muffled sound echoed, the three of us cautiously scanned our surroundings, fearing that something terrifying might suddenly emerge. However, in our vigilance, we overlooked what was beneath our feet.
"Heart!" With a shout from the Sun Warrior Leader, I felt a hand silently reaching up from the ground and firmly grasping my leg.
In a panic, I tried to pull my leg free, but no matter how hard I struggled, my legs felt as if they were glued to the ground, refusing to budge.
Seeing this, the Sun Warrior Leader acted swiftly. He snatched the Jiang Ling from my hands and with a flash of black sword light, he severed the two decaying hands that had grabbed me.
Holding the Jiang Ling, his grip on the hilt emanated waves of dark energy. He spoke with a hint of urgency, "This place is not safe; we should leave quickly and find a way out..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the ground around us suddenly began to collapse, sending up clouds of dust and debris. Without hesitation, the Sun Warrior Leader gripped the Jiang Ling tightly and swung it down towards the swirling dust.
As his sword struck down, a gust of wind generated by the Crimson Spirit Sword sliced through the haze. At that moment, I was shocked to see towering figures standing amidst the dust—Evil Spirits that resembled wraiths.
"It seems this is the welcoming ceremony that the Underworld has prepared for us..." Yao Long remarked as he drew out the Azure Spirit from behind him. He quickly nocked an arrow and used his blood to create three crimson arrows on the bowstring.
Just as Yao Long was about to release his arrows, the Sun Warrior Leader restrained his arm. "There's no need to waste your energy on mere wraiths."
With that, he returned the Jiang Ling to me and raised one hand, palm open towards a wraith baring its fangs not far away. He softly uttered a single word: "Annihilate."
As he spoke that word, a massive blue flame engulfed the dozen or so wraiths in an instant. Some let out anguished roars while others frantically charged at us with their massive weapons raised.
The Sun Warrior Leader stepped forward calmly, positioning himself in front of me and Yao Long. "Still unwilling to disappear obediently?" he murmured.
He made no further movements but simply waited for the charging wraiths to approach.
As they drew closer, their speed gradually slowed. Just a few steps away from the Sun Warrior Leader, they all halted simultaneously and leaned forward before collapsing collectively at his feet with a thunderous crash. Moments later, they were reduced to ashes.
"It seems these Evil Spirits from the Underworld have already sensed us and wish to eliminate us," I said, still shaken from the sudden scare I had just experienced.
"It should be the power of the Void Spirit within us that has attracted them," the Sun Warrior Leader said. "Perhaps it is precisely because of the immense power emitted by the Void Spirit inside us that they are drawn to us... However, there is another possibility..."
Hearing this, I suddenly realized what he meant by another possibility, and I quickly interjected, "Onizuka, right?"
The Sun Warrior Leader pondered for a moment before responding seriously, "Yes. After all, in this place, the entire world is filled with Vengeful Spirits and Evil Ghosts, which can provide an inexhaustible source of power. If Xinzhu absorbs that power, the consequences could be unimaginable. Therefore, before we find a way to escape, we must locate Xinzhu and eliminate it."
With that, the Sun Warrior Leader pointed to a massive red spherical object in the distance, which was different from the swirling clouds. "That should be Xinzhu. After being pulled into the Underworld, we may have been unconscious for a while, allowing Xinzhu to escape and absorb souls."
After hearing his words, not only Yao Long but I also felt the gravity of the situation. I said, "What are we waiting for? Let's move quickly; otherwise, if we delay any longer, even you might not be able to defeat Xinzhu."
"It may already be dangerous right now..." With that, the Sun Warrior Leader disregarded both me and Yao Long and rushed toward Xinzhu using the power of the Void Spirit.
Seeing this, Yao Long glanced at me as if seeking my opinion. I frowned and said, "Regardless, we must deal with Xinzhu. Let's follow him."
Yao Long nodded in understanding and then also harnessed the power of the Void Spirit to follow closely behind the Sun Warrior Leader toward Xinzhu.
I hurriedly drew my sword to my chest and summoned the Void Spirit, following closely behind them.
