Chapter One
"I am not..." I wanted to say that I was not its owner, but remembering how it had saved my life twice, I couldn't bring myself to say those words. At that moment, I truly hoped that I was its master.
"Understood. Let it rest here for now. I'll leave you my number; please let me know when it's better," the doctor said as I provided him with my contact information. Afterward, he went to prepare a place for the Yellow Dog to stay, while I entered the Examination Room.
Looking at the Yellow Dog lying on the bed and sleeping peacefully, my heart was filled with mixed emotions. However, seeing that it was safe now relieved a heavy weight from my chest. "We were merely strangers, so why did this dog risk its life to save me? Moreover, judging by the situation in Onizuka, it seems that the Void Spirit does not reject this dog either. It instinctively protected it without me asking."
"Wait!" Suddenly recalling that what I had just experienced was in Onizuka, I exclaimed and hurriedly lifted my shirt to check the Nine Star Diagram on my chest. To my surprise, there were still four stars remaining; none had diminished.
"How strange. I thought I had come out already; why hasn't it decreased? Could it be that Onizuka hasn't been broken yet? Or perhaps it wasn't Onizuka at all, and I guessed wrong..." I lowered my shirt and muttered as I looked at the mark on my arm. At that moment, the mark had faded below my elbow, indicating that many Vengeful Spirits and Evil Ghosts had been eliminated with considerable power.
"Did you discover something?" the Death Apostle asked as he stepped forward.
"No, originally I thought what I experienced in the tunnel was Onizuka, but now it seems it might not be because the Nine Lives Star Map on me hasn't decreased," I replied while glancing at the others behind me.
At that moment, Hu Fang and Yao Long were slowly approaching to check on the Yellow Dog lying on the bed, while the Death Apostle fell into deep thought. What struck me as odd was Li Zhisheng; ever since I mentioned this matter, he had remained silent and now extended his hand, staring at his palm with a peculiar expression.
"Hey, Li Zhisheng! What's wrong with you?" I called out to him.
Li Zhisheng snapped back to reality at the sound of my voice and replied dreamily, "Huh? What happened?"
"I was about to ask you! You've been acting strange since earlier..."
The others turned their attention toward Li Zhisheng upon hearing my words.
"I don't know what's wrong with me; I just feel a bit off..." he answered quietly.
As soon as he finished speaking, a female doctor walked in from outside. Seeing us gathered around the bed, she approached and gently moved us aside before picking up the Yellow Dog.
Her movements were very gentle; she didn't wake the sleeping Yellow Dog. "I'll take it to rest first; you all can come over to settle the payment," she said softly while carefully carrying the Yellow Dog away.
Afterward, I paid the necessary fees and then left with everyone else.
As I approached the car, just about to get in, I heard Death Apostle say, "How about we check out that so-called 'Time Tunnel'..."
Before he could finish, several burly men suddenly appeared in front of us, blocking my way to the car.
The others froze for a moment and instinctively took a few steps back. Hu Fang, standing behind me, tightly grasped my sleeve, looking somewhat frightened.
"What do you want?" I asked, stepping forward to confront them.
One of the big men stepped closer with his hands behind his back, his face as grim as water. Ignoring my question, he asked, "Which one of you is Shen Xu?"
"I am..." I furrowed my brows. "What do you want?"
At that moment, Yao Long stepped up as well, his eyes glinting with menace and fists clenched, ready for a fight. "What’s the deal? Looking for trouble?"
I knew Yao Long's strength well; even without using Void Spirit's power, he could easily take down these three or five men. However, considering we were in the middle of the street, any conflict could lead to serious consequences. So I forcibly pulled him back behind me, signaling him to stay calm.
The burly men ignored Yao Long and sized me up before saying, "Someone wants to see you. Come with us." The tone was not inviting but rather commanding, leaving no room for negotiation.
I thought to myself that they didn’t look like police officers. But since they could find me and knew my name accurately, they must have some understanding of us. The only one who could achieve this besides Gu Kai would be...
"Fine, I'll go with you." I turned back to look at the others; it seemed they had no intention of staying behind either. Death Apostle nodded at me in agreement with my decision.
Seeing that we agreed, the burly men led us to three black cars parked not far away.
Since there wasn't enough room for everyone, our group of five was split up. I sat in the first car while Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng were placed in the second one. Death Apostle and Yao Long took the last vehicle.
After that, the driver said nothing more and drove us toward the outskirts of the city.
Sitting in the back seat, I couldn't help but wonder; these people were definitely connected to Yang Master. But why had they changed their approach? Instead of using forceful methods as before, they chose to bring us along willingly. What was their purpose? Who wanted to see me?
As I pondered this while gazing out the window, I felt a slight unease. After all, my Void Spirit had already exhausted its power. Even if I could awaken it again, it would be completely defenseless. If any danger arose, I would have to rely on Yao Long and Li Zhisheng.
As I was lost in thought, I realized that the car had already driven out of the city and stopped in front of an inconspicuous inn on the outskirts.
Once we got out of the car, we were led directly to a door on the second floor of the inn. A few imposing-looking men stood at the entrance, their physiques quite robust.
The person who brought us walked up to the door and lightly knocked a few times. Footsteps could be heard from inside, and a man dressed in a Long Robe slowly opened the door.
Upon seeing us, he immediately smiled and said, "Oh, I thought you wouldn't make it. What a surprise... Father, your guests have arrived..." With that, he fully opened the door and stepped aside to let us in.
At that moment, a middle-aged man holding a black cane appeared before us. He had a tuft of black goatee and wore a brown Long Robe, standing in the room with a serious expression.
"Yes, it's him..." whispered the Death Apostle behind me, his voice trembling.
Seeing the Death Apostle so fearful made me scrutinize the man before us. To my astonishment, I noticed that the black cane he held was intricately carved with six red dragon patterns...
