At that moment, Li Zhisheng suddenly pointed to a cave partially hidden by the bushes nearby. "It looks like there's a cave over there. Why don't we take shelter from the rain and wait for it to stop before we move on?"
Hearing this, I looked in the direction he was pointing and indeed saw what appeared to be a cave among the foliage. However, the heavy rain obscured my view, and the surrounding overgrowth had made it difficult to notice.
"Yeah, it's definitely unsafe to walk on mountain paths in this rain," I replied. Supporting Haoyang, I stepped carefully through the muddy ground and followed Li Zhisheng into the cave.
The cave wasn't very large, and with three of us inside, it felt a bit cramped. I sat on a pile of gravel, my head almost touching the ceiling.
"With this heavy rain and the soft soil here, there's a chance of a landslide..." Before Li Zhisheng could finish his sentence, Haoyang and I quickly covered his mouth with our hands.
"Shut up! If there really is a landslide, we might end up buried in here," I said. After that, I took off my soaked clothes and wrung them out. I found some dry grass in the cave and used my lighter to start a small fire.
As we warmed our damp clothes by the fire, we discussed what to do next. However, given the limited clues we had at hand, our conversation didn't lead to any conclusions.
Meanwhile, the rain gradually lightened, but the sound of drizzling continued. Just then, I felt a slight tremor beneath my feet, as if something massive was approaching from a distance.
"Hey, everyone stop talking..." I interrupted Haoyang and Li Zhisheng's conversation, feeling uneasy. "Do you hear anything unusual?"
Li Zhisheng paused to listen for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't hear anything. Did you catch something?"
"What about Haoyang? Didn't you hear anything?"
Haoyang remained silent; he was listening intently, his expression shifting from relaxed during his chat with Li Zhisheng to serious.
After a brief silence, Haoyang suddenly exclaimed, "Oh no! It seems like you two were right; there's a landslide!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the tremors beneath us intensified and quickened in pace, soon transforming into a roaring sound like rushing water.
Reacting instinctively, I grabbed Haoyang and tried to escape, but he held me back firmly. "Don't move! Going out now is just asking for death!"
Just then, a surge of yellow muddy water rushed down from the cave entrance, sealing it tightly. However, since we were on a slope, hiding inside the cave allowed us to avoid this terrifying torrent.
I was half-squatting, preparing to stand up when the sudden scare made me instinctively take a few steps back, causing the back of my head to hit the rock wall, which hurt so much that I sat back down.
"It seems like the master doesn't want us to move forward anymore..." Haoyang sighed.
While rubbing my sore head, I retorted, "I'm telling you, this has nothing to do with the master; it's all because of that Crow's Mouth!"
Li Zhisheng, hearing this, countered, "Stop being superstitious. If it were really effective, I would have won the lottery by now. Our bad luck must be due to some calamity..."
Seeing Li Zhisheng like this, Haoyang couldn't help but laugh. He looked at Li Zhisheng and said, "Could it be that what you're doing isn't superstitious?"
"What I'm doing is astrology and divination; it's not superstition—it's science!" Li Zhisheng declared proudly.
At that moment, I was too preoccupied with the rushing flood at the cave entrance to joke with them. Worry crept into my heart as I wondered whether this narrow cave could withstand such pressure, and my face reflected my concern.
Just then, Li Zhisheng patted my shoulder. "Don't worry; there's no point in being anxious. We have no idea how extensive the landslide outside is. If we rush out recklessly, it would only lead to our demise. Staying here is also dangerous, but this cave is unlikely to collapse for now. It's relatively safer. And even if you summon the Void Spirit and burst out with power, what about Haoyang? Do you think he can handle it?"
Realizing he had misspoken since Haoyang was present, Li Zhisheng quickly changed his tone. "Haoyang, I didn't mean anything by that; don't misunderstand. I'm just worried about your safety."
Haoyang forced a smile. "It's fine; I didn't think too much about it. I know my own capabilities. You're right; if I just rush out like this, I might get swept away..."
Before Haoyang could finish his sentence, we heard a cracking sound from above us as some debris began to fall from the ceiling.
"Oh no! This cave really might not hold!" I frowned and quickly grabbed Jiang Ling from behind me without thinking twice and thrust it into my chest.
In an instant, time froze; the once-turbulent yellow flood stood still before my eyes. Seeing this, I couldn't hesitate any longer. Grabbing Haoyang and Li Zhisheng by their shoulders, I charged toward the yellow torrent.
However, since the entrance was narrow and my momentum was strong, my shoulders and arms collided with the rock wall. But as time began to unfreeze again, I couldn't care less; closing my eyes, I surged forward into the flow.
As I burst out of the cave, time seemed to freeze and disappear. I held Haoyang and Li Zhisheng in each hand, standing on a branch of a towering tree.
The cave we had just been in had completely collapsed, creating a whirlpool in the Mountain Flood, which was quickly swallowed by it.
I placed Haoyang and Li Zhisheng beside the forked branch and focused my mind, drawing the power of the Void Spirit into my body to minimize unnecessary energy expenditure.
At that moment, Haoyang, lying on the branch, looked at me with a bewildered expression and asked, "Where am I?"
Since Haoyang was still unaware of my abilities, it was understandable that he didn't grasp what had just happened. I didn't elaborate much; I simply told him that I had used my power to save him.
Then, I turned to look at the cascading Mountain Flood. It was massive, destroying numerous trees in its path. The flood surged down the mountainside, completely submerging the town below.
Beside me, leaning against the tree trunk, Li Zhisheng sighed and remarked, "No matter how powerful humans are, we can't compete with natural disasters..."
