"Give me a pair of Fire Eyes."
I recalled the days I spent with Fu Yi in college, a time seemingly coated in a golden glow. We were both students in the Literature Department, sharing a deep love for poetry and novels. Every night, we would meet in that corner by the window in the library, immersing ourselves in the sea of books.
I remember one time when the library was particularly empty, just the two of us. Fu Yi suddenly handed me a delicate little booklet, claiming it was his own poetry collection and hoping I could be his first reader. I joyfully accepted the booklet and opened the first page, instantly captivated by the heartfelt verses. I looked up at him; he was smiling at me, his eyes filled with anticipation.
"You write so beautifully; every line touches the heart," I exclaimed sincerely.
He chuckled modestly, saying, "I just wrote it casually; I didn't expect you to like it."
We continued to converse back and forth, as if the entire world had faded away, leaving just the two of us. The moonlight outside bathed us in a silver veil.
Suddenly, he stood up and walked in front of me, gazing deeply into my eyes as he said, "Do you know? I've always been quietly watching you. Every smile, every gesture of yours is etched deeply in my heart. I like you and hope you can be my girlfriend."
His sudden confession startled me, but more than that, I felt touched and overjoyed. Looking at his earnest face filled me with happiness and sweetness. I nodded and agreed to his request.
In that moment, we felt as if we were in a fairy tale; everything around us became so beautiful. We embraced tightly, as if trying to merge into each other.
That was the most romantic thing that happened between Fu Yi and me during our college days. That beautiful memory has been deeply imprinted in my heart.
Just when I was starting to think about forgiving him, something happened that left me utterly shocked. One day, I received a message from Du Kaka:
"I told you, I will definitely take Fu Yi for myself. I’m pregnant with his child now; hurry up and break up with him! Don’t cling to my husband!"
Heh, it's astonishing that there are people in this world who resort to such underhanded tactics. When I was struggling alongside Fu Yi to build our empire, where were you? Now that Fu Yi has money, you turn around and act like a thief? I'm truly speechless. I don't need to waste my breath on her; ignoring you is my greatest disdain.
Since we've reached this point, it's not me who's anxious—someone else is more desperate than I am.
One day, Fu Yi's mother dragged Du Kaka to my house and pointed a finger at me, saying, "Why haven't you broken up with my son yet? He doesn't love you anymore; why are you still clinging to him? Kakaka is our family's daughter-in-law. Look, she's already pregnant with our grandchild, and they’re getting married next month. You should break up with my son right away..."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Who exactly is refusing to break up? You should go ask your son properly!" With that, I shoved them out and closed the door.
That night, I blocked Fu Yi again. The next day, I left the company we had run for five years.
A year later, my new company began to take shape. Many of the clients I had cultivated were aware of my character; it didn't take much effort for them to become my new clients. Several of my former subordinates also switched sides and joined my company. They said Fu Yi had placed Du Kaka's relatives in high positions, leading the company into chaos. They couldn't see the former glory or any hope for the future, so they chose to work with me instead, feeling secure and grounded.
Three years later, Fu Yi's brother-in-law embezzled a large sum of money and squandered it on drinking and gambling, ending up in jail due to legal troubles. Fu Yi faced financial difficulties and was investigated for tax evasion, leading to the closure of her business. Fu Yi's mother and Du Kaka argued daily, even getting into physical fights on the street; her mother fell ill and was hospitalized. Du Kaka filed for divorce, thinking he could claim a share of the family assets, unaware that Fu Yi was burdened with tens of millions in debt. If they divorced, he would have to split the debt as well. Fu Yi had fallen from grace overnight—oh no, it wasn't just a fall from grace; she was now facing a deficit of tens of millions.
