The CEO's Plaything 8: Vague Dream

As I left, my hands were already drenched in blood. Fear gripped my heart, and I quietly tugged at my mother's sleeve, whispering that I hated this place and missed Dad, reminiscing about the days he took me to the amusement park. 0

Mom raised her head, her gaze resolute. She said that Dad was watching over us from heaven. I mimicked her gesture, lifting my chin, and found that doing so kept the tears from falling. 0

In a vague dream, I suddenly opened my eyes, searching for my father's figure, only to unexpectedly meet a pair of gentle, bright eyes. It was Long Qi; he had rarely taken off his sunglasses and was sitting on the balcony railing, tilting his head to look at me. 0

Song Moting had left the lights on when he departed, and the warm glow illuminated Long Qi's slightly pale face, making it appear softer. After a moment of eye contact, he sighed lightly and gestured for me to go back to sleep. 0

"Stop crying; I'll buy buns for you tomorrow," he said. 0

I stared at him blankly, feeling a bit dazed; in my memory, he was always quiet. 0

"Then you should get something sweet," I replied. 0

He nodded but fell silent again. I closed my eyes but couldn't fall back asleep. Watching him sit there motionless, I asked, "Long Qi, aren't you going to sleep?" 0

"Sleeping," he answered. 0

"Doesn't it feel uncomfortable sitting there?" 0

He paused for a moment before shaking his head, his tied-back hair swaying in the breeze. 0

Struggling to rise from the leather sofa, I rummaged through the closet for a blanket and tossed it toward him casually. Although I didn't throw it high, Long Qi caught it effortlessly as if he were catching a feather. 0

"This is new; it hasn't been used yet." 0

"The young lady is very precious; she won't dirty anything." 0

"What did you say?" 0

He stood there, cradling the blanket, using his smartwatch to turn off the lights in the room. 0

In the darkness, I heard him repeat in a deep, magnetic voice, "The lady is very esteemed and won't dirty anything." 0

When I opened my eyes again, sunlight had poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, filling the entire bedroom. It was early summer, and the sun was rising earlier each day. This moment was the most pleasant of the day; the gentle sunlight had yet to bring heat, streaming in through the slats of the blinds, making the whole room bright and fresh. 0

On the nightstand lay an exquisite paper bag. I opened it to find four neatly arranged handmade buns, their white and round skins still warm to the touch, perfectly ready to eat. 0

After washing up and returning to my room, I was surprised to find tiny droplets of water condensed on the paper bag. Did these buns... heat themselves? I had only been gone for a few minutes; it couldn't have been warmed by the sunlight. 0

Suddenly, I felt something warm gently stir within me as I softly called out, "Long Qi?" 0

"Here." 0

Did you just heat them in the microwave? I truly appreciated your thoughtfulness. 0

"What fillings do these buns have?" 0

"Brown sugar, red bean paste, peanut, and date paste." 0

I curled a strand of hair around my finger, feigning difficulty. "I want to eat the red bean paste one, but they all look identical. I really can't tell them apart. Can you come over and help me choose?" 0

Finally, he stepped out from the shadows. The first thing that caught my eye was a pair of shiny handmade leather shoes, followed by tailored trousers. My gaze skimmed over his expensive smartwatch before landing on his sharply defined face. He bent slightly at my side, reaching out to help me pick out the red bean paste bun. 0

I seized the moment as he leaned down and, without hesitation, stood on my tiptoes to shove one bun into his mouth. 0
