Eileen shouted angrily, "I don't care what you are; humanity will never lose to you like this!" 0

However, the cicada simply flew away leisurely, circling around Eileen. Suddenly, a sapling burst through the ground, growing rapidly into a towering tree, its branches sprawling and leaves thick, blocking out the sun. The cicada casually landed on the tree and quietly asked, "Eileen, what do you see me as? Am I evil? Am I fallen? Am I irredeemably wicked?" 0

Eileen glared at the cicada, her anger boiling over. "You're nothing but a bastard, deceiving those ignorant villagers into performing those horrendous sacrificial rituals that cost a young life!" 0

The cicada's compound eyes glimmered with a cold light, its voice deep and mocking. "Oh, Eileen, what you see is merely the surface. Those villagers choose to believe in me because they seek hope in their suffering. I gave them a goal, a meaning. You think I'm evil, but in their eyes, I am their salvation." 0

A wave of nausea washed over Eileen as she looked at the cicada with disgust and disdain. "Salvation? You lead them to bloody rituals that sacrifice the innocent. Is that salvation? Is that your so-called meaning?" 0

The cicada's antennae twitched slightly, its voice laced with contempt. "Human history is filled with bloodshed and sacrifice; these rituals are just part of your search for power and redemption. You can criticize me, but humanity itself is not pure." 0

Eileen clenched her teeth, her heart brimming with anger and despair. "Are you justifying yourself? Blaming your sins on human nature? That's utterly shameless!" 0

The cicada gently flapped its wings, its tone softening as if soothing a disobedient child. "Eileen, do you know why you cannot accept my existence or understand the meaning I bring? It's because you remain closed off, unwilling to see new forms of existence. You cling to your own world, rejecting anything different from yourself." 0

Eileen's eyes widened in shock and confusion. "What do you mean? Are you saying I'm closed off?" 0

The cicada nodded, its compound eyes sparkling with wisdom. "Yes, Eileen. You have been fixated on yourself, only seeing your fears and pain while ignoring that there are other existences and meanings in this world. You see me as an evil monster but fail to recognize the transformation and rebirth I represent." 0

A surge of anger and helplessness coursed through Eileen as her voice sharpened. "Transformation? Rebirth? What nonsense are you talking about? You're just a manipulative monster who killed Little Rudy and drove those people mad!" 0

The cicada's voice remained gentle as it replied softly, "Eileen, you need to understand that human growth and progress often come with pain and sacrifice. Little Rudy's death symbolizes a transformation; it's a new beginning. You cling to the past and cannot accept this change—that's why you cannot relate to me." 0

Erin felt a chill run down her spine, her heart filled with fear and anger. "I will not accept your words. You are merely using those innocent people for your own purposes. You will not succeed!" 0

The cicada danced gracefully on the tree, its Compound Eye shimmering with an unusual light, its voice deep and laden with meaning. "Erin, do you know? Prophets are always seen as madmen; this is an iron law of history. The origins of all religions stem from a unique and different existence. Look at Jesus—initially regarded as evil, a heretic, yet he became the largest faith on Earth. Why can’t I be the next Jesus?" 0

Hearing this, Erin felt another wave of cold wash over her. Her eyes were filled with disgust and disdain. "Jesus? How dare you compare yourself to Jesus? You are nothing but a manipulative monster!" 0

The cicada's antennae quivered slightly, its voice tinged with contempt. "Erin, you still don’t understand. All great reformers, all those later called prophets, were initially misunderstood and doubted. Their thoughts transcended the understanding of their time, instilling fear and unease in people. Jesus was seen as a heretic by Jewish priests and crucified by Romans, yet his teachings became the most widespread faith a millennium later." 0

The cicada paused, as if waiting for Erin to digest these words before continuing. "Buddha was initially just a wealthy young man who abandoned all worldly riches to seek truth. Muhammad was hunted in Mecca and fled to Medina. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, branded a traitor by Pharaoh. These great souls persisted in their beliefs despite misunderstanding and rejection, ultimately changing the world." 0

Erin gritted her teeth, forcing herself not to be swayed by these words. "These individuals acted for the welfare of humanity, while you act solely for your own benefit." 0

The cicada chuckled softly, its voice laced with mockery. "Really? The welfare of humanity? Or did their followers use these beliefs to expand power and influence? Erin, do you truly believe your world is so pure and flawless?" 0

Anger and confusion swelled within Erin; her voice turned sharp. "You are justifying your crimes! These great souls sought love and peace, while you bring fear and death!" 0

The cicada's voice grew low and chilling. "Fear and death are also part of change. Without the baptism of pain, how can a new order be born? Those ignorant villagers choose to believe in me because I offer them hope—a world different from their reality. And you, Erin, resist because you fear change; you fear accepting a new existence." 0

Suddenly, the cicada transformed into several transparent beings radiating light—the Faceless Ones—one sitting quietly under the tree in meditation like Buddha, another hanging upside down like Odin in all his majesty, while another stood silently beneath the tree facing Erin. 0

This Faceless One slowly spoke, its voice echoing like an ancient resonance: "Though I have always had the power to change your thoughts directly, I do not. Because I prefer to see you willingly submit to me." 0

Erin clenched her fists tightly, an unnamed fire igniting within her, but she forced herself to calm down and coldly stared at the Faceless One before her. 0

The Faceless One continued, "If my actions have made you uncomfortable, I apologize; it is merely my instinct as a god. Sacrifice is essential for my source of energy, especially when the fervor and passion of faith can bring me even greater power." 0

A chill ran through Erin, her eyes filled with disgust and anger. "You justify all of this for your own needs. For your power, you make innocent people suffer. Is this what your divinity looks like?" 0

The Faceless One's voice grew deep and powerful. "Erin, you must understand that the gap between gods and humans is insurmountable. Humanity seeks divinity, while gods require the energy of faith. It is a complementary relationship, a contract. Those villagers choose to believe in me because they seek hope in their suffering. Yet you resist out of fear of change." 0
