On her first day at kindergarten, Beibei was filled with excitement. Liu Yuan dropped her off at the classroom and left.
Beibei looked around at the unfamiliar classroom and the strange classmates, feeling a bit scared. She sat in her seat, staring out the window, lost in thought.
A boy sitting next to her looked over and said, "Hello, my name is Lu Yuze."
Beibei turned to him and replied, "Hello, I’m Beibei."
Lu Yuze didn’t say anything more. Beibei observed him and sensed he seemed a bit distant.
She took out a box of milk and a piece of chocolate from her backpack and placed them on his desk. "Here, have some."
Lu Yuze glanced at the snacks on the desk, surprised. He looked up at Beibei.
"This is my favorite snack; I wanted to share it with you," she explained.
Lu Yuze replied, "I don’t eat snacks."
Beibei insisted, "It’s really delicious; you should try it."
"Alright," Lu Yuze conceded.
He unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite.
Beibei watched him eagerly. "So, how is it? Is it good?"
Lu Yuze nodded slightly. "Yeah."
"Then you should eat more," Beibei encouraged.
"Thank you," Lu Yuze said.
"No need to thank me," Beibei replied with a smile.

Class began, and the teacher asked the new students to introduce themselves. Beibei stood up and introduced herself. Everyone clapped enthusiastically. The teacher looked at her and asked, "Beibei, do you have any talents you can show your classmates?"
Beibei nodded, "Sure."
She walked to the center of the stage and sang a song. After she finished, everyone applauded again.
Beibei looked at everyone, "Thank you all."

When class was over, Beibei had just sat down when a group of children surrounded her.
The kids looked at her, "Beibei, you're so cute!"
Beibei smiled at them, "You all are cute too."
Wang Yuhan looked at her, "Beibei, can we be good friends?"
Beibei replied, "Of course."
Wang Yuhan took her hand, "That's great!"
Zhao Xiaoyu walked over and asked her, "Beibei, can you be my girlfriend?"
Beibei looked at him, "What is a girlfriend?"
Zhao Xiaoyu explained, "A girlfriend means I can protect you in the future."
Beibei shook her head, "No."
Zhao Xiaoyu asked, "Why not?"
Beibei replied, "I can't be your girlfriend."
Zhao Xiaoyu pressed on, "Why?"
Beibei answered firmly, "Because I don't want to be your girlfriend."
Lu Yuze walked over and said to Zhao Xiaoyu, "But you said yesterday that Wang Yuhan was your girlfriend."
Zhao Xiaoyu looked at him in confusion, "When did I say that?"
Lu Yuze insisted, "Just yesterday."
Zhao Xiaoyu protested, "I was joking then."
Lu Yuze smirked, "Well, I'm joking today too."
Zhao Xiaoyu glared at him, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Lu Yuze shot back, "You were the one who started the nonsense."
Wang Yuhan looked at Zhao Xiaoyu and said, "Zhao Xiaoyu, you say I'm your girlfriend. Why are you lying to me?"
Zhao Xiaoyu replied, "I-I didn't lie to you."
Wang Yuhan stared at him, "You did! I'm not playing with you anymore. I'm not talking to you again." With that, she ran off.
Zhao Xiaoyu called after her, "I didn't mean to!"
Lu Yuze looked at him and said, "You did mean to."
Zhao Xiaoyu shot him a glare before turning away.
Beibei watched them, feeling somewhat confused.
Later that evening, Chen Yan and Liu Yuan came to pick up Beibei from school.
Beibei rushed out and jumped into her mother's arms, exclaiming, "Mommy, I missed you so much!"
Liu Yuan hugged her back, "Mommy missed you too."
Chen Yan looked at her and asked, "Were you good in kindergarten today?"
Beibei nodded enthusiastically, "I was very good."
Chen Yan smiled at her, "Then let's go home."
Liu Yuan added, "Yes."
The three of them left together.
On the way home, Beibei looked at her mother and said, "Mommy, today a little friend asked me to be his girlfriend."
Liu Yuan asked, "Did you agree?"
Beibei shook her head, "No."
Liu Yuan inquired further, "Why not?"
Beibei replied earnestly, "Because I don't know what a girlfriend is."
Liu Yuan chuckled softly, "A girlfriend is someone you both like and play together."
Beibei nodded slowly as if she understood, "Oh."
Chen Yan then asked Beibei, "Which little friend asked you to be his girlfriend?"
Beibei answered innocently, "It was Zhao Xiaoyu."
Chen Yan raised an eyebrow and asked, "Is he handsome?"
Beibei thought for a moment, "Pretty handsome."
Chen Yan frowned, "That little brat."
Liu Yuan looked at him, "What are you doing?"
Chen Yan replied, "I... I didn't do anything."
Liu Yuan continued, "It's just kids playing house; don't take it seriously."
Chen Yan fell silent.
In truth, he wasn't taking it seriously; he just felt uncomfortable inside.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the three of them got out of the car.
Liu Yuan looked at Chen Yan and said, "This restaurant is newly opened; it should be good."
Chen Yan nodded in response.
The three of them entered.
Liu Yuan approached the front desk and asked, "Are there any seats available?"
The receptionist looked at her and inquired, "How many of you?"
Liu Yuan replied, "Three."
The receptionist checked and said, "There's one seat left."
Liu Yuan responded, "Then please arrange it for me."
The receptionist nodded, "Okay, please wait a moment."
Chen Yan stood behind, watching Liu Yuan talk to the receptionist.
He recognized the receptionist's face and frowned.
This man was familiar to him. He had seen him the first time he met Liu Yuan at the bar when he bought her drinks.
His name was Fu Shaokang, Liu Yuan's childhood friend.
Chen Yan had heard Liu Yuan's mother mention him before; he had gone abroad and now unexpectedly returned.
Fu Shaokang looked at Liu Yuan with eyes full of tenderness.
Chen Yan knew that he still had feelings for Liu Yuan.
Chen Yan looked at his chest, where a nameplate read: General Manager, Fu Shaokang. It seemed he was the owner of this place.
Chen Yan observed him, noticing a woman standing beside him, cradling a toddler in her arms. It appeared he was married, and the child was already that big.
A sense of discomfort stirred within Chen Yan. He remembered going to the bar to drown his sorrows over Liu Yuan. Now, Fu Shaokang was married.
Chen Yan couldn't tell if he had moved on or not. If he hadn't, what did that mean for him and Liu Yuan...
He dared not think further.
Fu Shaokang turned to Liu Yuan. "How have you been lately?"
Liu Yuan replied, "Pretty good."
Fu Shaokang continued to look at her. "Your child is quite adorable."
Liu Yuan smiled slightly. "Thank you."
Fu Shaokang asked, "Are you with him?"
Liu Yuan shook her head. "No."
Fu Shaokang fell silent.
Liu Yuan clarified, "We're just here to have a meal."
Fu Shaokang nodded. "Alright."
Liu Yuan turned to leave.
Chen Yan watched Fu Shaokang as Fu Shaokang watched him. The two men's gazes met in the air, sparking a silent clash.
