In the afternoon, the tree shadows swayed. The IV drip seemed to have no end. Amanda impatiently tugged at the thin IV tube until the thin needle finally appeared, causing serious backflow, before she stopped. When Osiris arrived, he saw Amanda pale-faced, lying limp on the hospital bed.
"Call the doctor!" The new maid staggered out the door, while Amanda leaned on Osiris, sobbing and crying. "Aussie, my hand hurts so much," she weakly tugged at Osiris's sleeve, the blood vessels on her pale hand back looking particularly fierce.
"Just hold on a little longer, the doctor will be here soon."
"What's going on?"
While the attending physician was busy, Osiris questioned the maid in charge of Amanda's care.
The maid nervously twisted her fingers, Amanda's gaze terrifyingly fixed on her back. She dared not tell the truth and stammered for a long time.
"It's... it's my carelessness, I didn't watch the IV bottle carefully. I'm sorry, sir, it's all my fault. This is my first job, please, please don't fire me."
The maid was afraid and tears streamed down her face.
"Aussie."
Amanda's soft voice came from the bed, and Osiris didn't notice the maid trembling even more.
"I'm here." Walking back to the bedside, Osiris stroked Amanda's hair. "Feeling better?"
Amanda nodded obediently.
"Be careful, don't let me see Amanda get hurt again, or I won't spare you," Osiris warned the maid.
Amanda lowered her gaze with a hint of coldness, but when she looked up, she appeared soft and weak, as if she could be bullied at any moment.
"Don't be mad at her, Aussie; it's my fault. I was distracted for a moment and caused this," Amanda leaned her head on Osiris's shoulder and glared at the maid.
"You always do this," Osiris said, feeling sorry as he gently patted her back. "You always forgive others' mistakes so easily."
"I'm not that great at all," Amanda said coquettishly, seeing the maid dare not look at her again, and then she was satisfied with a slight curl of her mouth. After chatting with Amanda in the ward for a while, Osiris left the bedside with his phone. When he walked to the maid's side, he sternly said, "Take good care of the young lady."
Turning his head, he waved to the bedridden Amanda, "Amanda, I'm going out to take a call." It must be an urgent matter. As Osiris walked and stopped, his expression became noticeably more serious when he turned away from Amanda. Amanda waited until the door closed and Osiris's footsteps were no longer heard before looking at the maid who was some distance away from her.
"Come here," she said impatiently from a position of superiority.
The maid trembled, mustered up her courage, and took a few careful steps forward. But when she looked up, she saw that Amanda's expression had become even more terrifying.
"Smack!"
After a loud slap, the maid trembled and covered her face. But in her eyes, apart from the tears and grievance, there was no surprise. "You took the money, so you should do as you're told. Did I allow you to call him?"
Amanda angrily scolded, "You have a pig's brain, can't even distinguish what should be said and what shouldn't be said."
The maid lowered her hand from her face to her lips, not daring to make a sound.
"From now on, without my permission, you are not allowed to contact him, do you hear me?"
"Aussie is someone you can directly contact."
Amanda sneered coldly, the more she thought, the angrier she became. She raised her head, wanting to slap again, but thinking of Osiris outside the door, she stopped.
She just pinched the maid's waist hard.
Just now, if she hadn't reacted quickly enough, her self-harm would have been seen by Osiris. This is something she absolutely cannot allow to happen. She glared at the maid, but the face that appeared in her mind was Elena's.
The phone placed on the bedside table vibrated, and the reminder of an unknown incoming call made Amanda tense for a moment. She forced herself to conceal her anxious expression and sent the maid to fetch water. "How dare you ask me for money?!" As soon as the call connected, Amanda couldn't control her voice, but she quickly regained her composure, covered the phone receiver, and glanced at the door.
Osiris has no intention of coming back yet. Then he continued, "I just asked you to guide public opinion. You can't even handle such a small matter. Now she's fine, and you've indirectly gained a lot of popularity. I will absolutely not pay this money. Not only will I not pay, but I will also give your company a negative review!"
"What negative review?" Osiris pushed the door open and asked in confusion.
Amanda nervously swallowed and quickly hung up.
"It's nothing. Is work at the company very busy? You didn't look too good when you went out just now," she raised her chin and made a very concerned expression. Osiris nodded, "No rush, I'll wait until you fall asleep before I leave."
Amanda hid her phone behind her back.
"Where is she?"
Osiris didn't see the maid, and his face grew colder.
Amanda couldn't wait for him to forget the scene when he had just walked in, and quickly said, "Maybe I felt too stuffy and went out for some fresh air."
Noticing Osiris's increasingly unpleasant expression, Amanda laughed at herself, "Being with a cripple all the time, anyone would find it unbearable."
"I don't like it when you talk about yourself like that," Osiris looked at her disapprovingly.
"It's a fact, I've long been accustomed to it," Amanda said with a pitiful expression, trying hard not to let herself care.
Once again, Osiris felt guilty.
Osiris casually put down his phone and carefully embraced Amanda, "Don't be sad. I promised to cure you, there must be a way to make you the way you were before. Trust me."
"Well, of course I believe you," Amanda obediently agreed. The attending doctor happened to pass by the door, and Osiris, thinking of something, planted a kiss on Amanda's forehead before rushing out. He was in such a hurry that he didn't even notice his phone falling onto the hospital bed.
Amanda was the first to notice, probably because of the phone call Osiris just received. The phone screen was still on, and Amanda didn't even bother to unlock it before tapping into it. Osiris's recent reactions have made her suspicious about something.
But after checking, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Aussie is still her Aussie.
She smiled and casually swiped her index finger over a video link that had been added to her favorites.
The suddenly popped up video was very short, less than a minute long, but Amanda almost bit her lip.
Elena!
It turned out to be the interview video that defended Elena.
What Amanda finds even more unbearable is that the hidden information in the video shows that Osiris has watched it more than once. He even saved the video. She is angry, in pain, and emotionally upset, but Amanda has not lost her composure.
She couldn't let her emotions be noticed by Osiris. She made an effort to calm herself down, calmly pressed the delete button on the video, and when Osiris returned, she pretended as if she had just discovered it, smiling and saying to him, "How careless of you, you didn't even notice when you dropped your phone." Amanda stared into Osiris's eyes, but Osiris showed no sign of guilt, instead, he confidently took the phone from her.
Could it be that she was mistaken? Amanda frowned in suspicion.
The maid came back from the other end of the corridor with water and was immediately scolded by Osiris as soon as she entered the room.
She felt wronged, but she didn't dare to complain and could only endure it.
Amanda doesn't care about what the maid thinks. At this moment, her mind is full of hatred and annoyance towards Elena. She really wants to question Osiris about why he kept Elena's video, but when the words reached her lips, she held them back. She can't mention Elena, not even a single word of that name.
As long as she doesn't speak, as long as she watches closely, Osiris will always forget about this episodic woman. With this in mind, she suddenly glared at the maid, then looked at Osiris with eyes as gentle as water. " Aussie."
"Hmm?" Osiris stopped tucking in the sheets and turned to look at her. "Let's get married," Amanda said shyly. "We've been apart for too long, Aussie, I want to be your bride. Can we be together forever?"
Osiris didn't immediately answer, and he seemed a bit stunned, which was rare for him. If it were in the past, he definitely wouldn't have reacted this way. Amanda was gripping her hands against her chest so tightly that they were almost breaking.
He actually hesitated.
"Do you... not want us to be together?" Amanda asked weakly, with a hurt expression.
Osiris quickly shook his head in denial.
"No, of course I want us to be together," he paused, "I just feel like it's not fair to you." Facing Amanda's puzzled expression, Osiris smiled. "Didn't you say you wanted a seaside wedding?"
Amanda: "You still remember?"
"Of course, I remember everything about you," Osiris affectionately patted her head.
"Amanda, the days before caused you suffering, and you encountered such misfortune because of me." His gaze fell on Amanda's legs, filled with pity and pain. "I love you, I want to give you the best things in the world, I want to make you happy."
"I don't want you to get hurt again," Osiris said in a low voice. "We can take our time with the wedding, no rush. Your groom is right here." He held Amanda's hand. "Let's focus on healing your leg first, okay?" Amanda was moved to tears.
"Aussie Do you really, really mean it?"
She wrapped her arms around Osiris's neck, "I'll listen to you, I'll listen to everything you say."
Excitedly, she planted a kiss on Osiris's cheek, then hugged him tightly once again.
Oh, Elena, what are you comparing with me? Even if you have been living with Aussie for three years, so what? Even if you have means now, Aussie only has me in his heart. Amanda is full of smugness and calculation.
Osiris can only be hers, and there will only be one woman for him.
