By now, Zuo Dao had understood the intentions of the Four Dragon Kings. However, he was puzzled as to why they were so certain that he could assist them.
"Young Master Zuo, there are some things we can do, but others we cannot. I know this may seem a bit presumptuous, but I assure you, we mean you no harm," Ao Yu said, observing the silence of Zuo Dao. He realized that he had been somewhat abrupt this time, but there was no other way.
Zuo Dao replied, "Why do you say that, Dragon King? It's not that I am unwilling to help; rather, I am contemplating how to assist."
Ao Yu's heart leaped with joy upon hearing this.
"As long as you agree, feel free to ask for anything you need. The Four Great Star Seas may not have much else, but we certainly have enough resources for cultivation."
"That is essential. If we truly want to reach the level you mentioned, relying solely on myself will not suffice," Zuo Dao said without hesitation. It was not his style to refuse benefits when they were offered. "But Dragon King, can you confirm that after breaking through the tribulation, you will be able to accurately find that path?"
Ao Yu assured him, "Rest assured, I have no reason to deceive you on this matter."
The Four-Star Sea Dragon Kings had come specifically to escape their domain. They possessed the foundation for it but lacked the fortune. The dragon clan was indeed a proud lineage; their sacrifices to break through this path were beyond what ordinary people could see.
They could have unified the Great Celestial Domain, yet they chose to let go of the Five Continents and firmly occupy the Four Great Star Seas. It was not that they did not want to; rather, they did not dare.
Without complete understanding of the Dao and lacking fortune, if they truly held the Great Celestial Domain in their hands, it would only bring endless misfortune. They could not overcome this tribulation. It seemed as if an unseen force was manipulating the Dao of the Great Celestial Domain.
You could have a hundred schools of thought contending for supremacy, but one cannot dominate alone.
As Ao Yu subtly brought up these matters, Zuo Dao began to calculate in his mind. It appeared that everything was far from simple. The tribulation of the Two Women could clearly be resolved, yet due to unforeseen circumstances, it forced the Two Women into Nirvana and rebirth.
Zuo Dao originally intended not to interfere too much with the Dao of this world; however, he felt that many things were aimed directly at him. The Moling Star was like this, and so was the Great Star Domain; even in the Great Celestial Domain, it remained unchanged.
It was as if every step he took was under the watchful eyes of others. With this thought, Zuo Dao unconsciously looked up.
The four brothers of Ao Yu found this situation rather strange. Everything seemed fine until suddenly it didn't. If they were outside, it would be one thing, but they were indoors—what could possibly be so interesting about the ceiling?
If it weren't for their request and knowing that Zuo Dao meant no disrespect, they might have felt ignored by him.
Although the four Star Sea Dragon Kings only needed Zuo Dao to break through a small barrier for them, he had much more to consider.
"Dragon King, breaking through this domain isn't the most important thing; what's crucial is the target," Zuo Dao said after some thought. "If it's about the target, then it would end up like those people, banished into the void. Am I wrong?"
Upon hearing this, the Four Dragon Kings exchanged glances. They hadn't expected Zuo Dao to deduce so much from just a few words.
Ao Yu did not respond immediately to Zuo Dao because he was unsure of the meaning behind his question. Was he blaming himself for not being clearer before, or was he trying to propose more conditions?
Seeing the expressions of the Four Dragon Kings, Zuo Dao knew he had guessed correctly.
He vividly remembered the fleeting scene at the Transcendence Location. Although it was brief, he realized that what he saw was real yet so illusory at the same time.
It was like seeing a great mountain in front of you; you could walk toward it based on what you saw, yet no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't reach it, nor could you determine the position of the other party.
After Gu Qianchou and others were banished, his doubts only deepened. Now that the Dragon King had come seeking help, even without revealing too many details, he had managed to piece together the whole situation.
"This isn't something we intended to hide," the Dragon King's expression was somewhat awkward. "It's just that we don't have that item in our possession; even if we did, we couldn't guarantee its usability."
"There's no need for the Dragon King to explain; I understand," Zuo Dao said, waving his hand to stop Ao Yu from continuing. "Let's just consider it a repayment of a favor."
Seeing this, Ao Yu felt it was not appropriate to say much more, though he thought that this favor was a bit too easily given. He had not considered that while this task was easy for Zuo Dao, he had not thought about who else besides Zuo Dao could accomplish it.
Zuo Dao could still sense some of the Dragon King's thoughts. Although there was no malice directed at him, he knew that the Dragon King would never be completely open.
Some matters are best left unspoken; going further would serve no purpose. The Four Seas Dragon Kings understood this well. Since the other party had agreed, they would not linger any longer. Whether Zuo Dao would change his mind was beyond their concern.
"This matter will rely entirely on Young Master Zuo. Here are some items as a token of our meeting. I will prepare everything else you need shortly," Ao Yu said as he placed several Storage Rings down.
"Then I shall graciously accept," Zuo Dao replied, knowing that refusing the gift would be impolite; he needed to give them some reassurance.
As Zuo Dao accepted the items, the four felt a weight lift from their hearts. With their purpose achieved, the Four-Star Sea Dragon King found it inappropriate to linger further and began to take their leave. Zuo Dao had no intention of keeping them; this was merely a transaction, and since they sought his assistance, he did not need to lower himself because of their status.
After the Four-Star Sea Dragon King departed, the five city lords returned to their residence. There was little more to discuss regarding this meeting.
Zuo Dao toyed with the rings left by Ao Yu while pondering some issues. The city lords saw his demeanor and chose not to disturb him, sitting quietly beside him.
After a long while, Zuo Dao finally came back to himself. Looking at the five people sitting upright below him, he couldn't help but smile.
"You don't need to be so serious! It feels like I'm bullying you all."
"Young Master is joking; we were just concerned about disturbing your thoughts," replied Eastern Fang Qian.
He quickly found his place among the five. If any of the city lords were at a disadvantage, it was undoubtedly him. Although he was the first to approach, Cold Fan Mountain, Mu Beihan, and Lu Yang were clearly in cahoots, while Aochudai had the backing of the Four Great Star Seas, a formidable force indeed. Therefore, he had to cling tightly to Zuo Dao's coattails.
It would be a grave mistake not to seize the opportunity when someone of the stature of the Four Seas Dragon Kings came personally.
In fact, among the five, Zuo Dao felt most at ease with Dongfang Qianliao, as his intentions were the clearest. Though he was a bit too self-serving, that was only human nature. The others all harbored various ulterior motives to some extent.
"Alright, what’s there to be surprised about? Take these items and reinforce them according to my previous arrangements," Zuo Dao said as he tossed a Storage Ring to Eastern Fang Qian.
"I've already divided the items inside, and there are clear instructions on how to use them. Go ahead. Once you’re done, choose some trusted individuals; I will hold a lecture."
Upon hearing this, all five couldn't help but smile with joy. They knew that previously Zuo Dao had merely discussed some matters with them, which had already greatly benefited them. Now he was going to give a lecture and even allowed them to bring people along.
Although they understood this was Zuo Dao's way of winning hearts, they could never refuse such an offer.
"Thank you very much, Young Master!" The five stood up and expressed their gratitude in unison.
After arranging everything, Zuo Dao returned to the Nine Monoliths. He first checked on the Phoenix Sisters; just as before, they were still in deep slumber with no signs of Vitality emanating from them.
Zuo Dao felt helpless regarding the Two Women. If he hadn’t confirmed that their lives were not in danger, he might have been driven by an impulse to destroy the path.
The earlier visit from the Four Dragon Kings had served as a wake-up call for Zuo Dao; in his understanding, targeting something was simply about positioning it correctly. Since such things existed within the Four Star Sea, he wondered if Zhao Wang possessed similar items.
When he approached the Two Kings, several elderly men were gathered together enjoying tea and chatting.
“Where did Zuo Dao come from?” As soon as Zuo Dao appeared, Chang Wang asked.
Zuo Dao replied, “I came to find Zhao Wang about something.”
Chang Wang inquired, “What is it? Do you need my help?”
“Uh…” Zuo Dao was about to say yes but suddenly remembered that he had already swallowed the other person's arrow. Besides Longbow, there seemed to be nothing else. This Longbow probably didn't have that capability either.
“I think I should just ask Zhao Wang.” After saying that, he felt a bit embarrassed himself.
“Daozi, what’s the matter?” Zhao Wang asked, surprised to see Zuo Dao looking this way.
Seeing Zhao Wang's inquiry, Zuo Dao had no intention of hiding anything and recounted the earlier transaction with the Four Seas Star Dragon King in detail, especially emphasizing the function of the target item.
Listening to Zuo Dao's account, Zhao Wang fell into deep thought. Even Zhao Elder was stroking his beard with his eyes closed, pondering.
Meanwhile, Chang He directly summoned his Longbow and looked around.
“Can my Longbow work for you, Zuo Dao? But I really don’t know how to assess it!”
Hearing this, Zhao Yanwu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Chang Ye, can you not be so amusing?”
Chang He Shan Shan smiled, not taking it to heart.
After a long while, Zhao Wang and Zhao Elder simultaneously regained their senses.
"I don't know if that thing can serve that purpose, but our ancestor mentioned that it was taken from the South Gate. I'm not sure if it will be useful."
Once Zhao Elder finished speaking, he looked at Zhao Yanwu, and Old Master Zhao did the same.
Upon seeing them, Zhao Yanwu seemed to sense something was amiss.
"Why are you both looking at me? Is that thing on me?"
She said it casually, but Zuo Dao knew that the two elders had already realized this point.
"Zhao Yanwu is still clever; Grandpa didn't say anything, yet you guessed it right." Zhao Kuangyi chuckled as he stroked his beard. Zhao Wang also looked at her with gentle eyes.
"Oh, it really is on me!" Zhao Yanwu exclaimed. "But you two grandfathers have given me so many things; which one is it?"
With that, she began rummaging through her belongings. Soon, a mountain of items piled up in front of everyone, containing all sorts of things, including several pieces of what appeared to be Celestial Artifacts that Zuo Dao recognized.
Seeing Zhao Yanwu's actions, the two Immortal Kings from the Zhao Family—now likely Immortal Emperors—couldn't help but blush.
Zuo Dao felt a headache coming on; these two elders were clearly too indulgent towards Zhao Yanwu! He never expected this girl to be the wealthiest among the Heterodox!
A mountain of items lay before the crowd, radiating various glows and exuding different auras. Many of these could be used for admiration or play.
Among them was a round sphere crafted from Golden Branch and Jade Liquid, which Zuo Dao perceived as an object meant for enjoying the scenery of the four seasons. However, to ensure the stability of the sphere, all the materials used were Golden Branch and Jade Liquid. It was known that with so much Golden Branch and Jade Liquid, Zuo Dao could forge several simple Teleportation Arrays between stars, and they would be long-lasting ones at that.
There were also a wooden horse made from Spirit Nurturing Wood, a swing crafted from Fruitful Gold, and a clapper made from Barbarian Dragon Skin, among others. By the end, Zuo Dao felt a pang in his heart; it was such a waste!
"Alright, stop taking things," Zhao Wang said, unable to watch any longer. He knew how much he had given Zhao Yanwu. If she continued to toss things aside, there was no way they could get through the mountain of items. "Look for a Seven-Linked Ring inside."
"Oh, there really is one! Grandpa, when did you give this to me?" Zhao Yanwu exclaimed as her Divine Sense searched through the Storage Ring and indeed found it, though she had forgotten when it had been given to her.
Zhao Wang took the Seven-Linked Ring and began to stroke it with both hands, as if recalling something. Seeing his brother like this, Zhao Kuangyi quickly spoke up.
"Alright, big brother, hurry up and give the items to Daozi."
Zuo Dao sensed that this item must have some story behind it, but he didn’t want to pry. Moreover, judging by Zhao Wang's expression, it seemed to evoke unpleasant memories.
Zhao Wang collected his thoughts and with a flick of his finger, the Seven-Linked Ring quickly disassembled. He picked up two of the rings and handed them to Zuo Dao.
"According to our ancestors, these two are Door Knockers from the South Gate. During a battle long ago, our ancestors guarded the South Gate. In one fierce battle, they shattered the entire South Gate, leaving only these two Door Knockers behind," Zhao Ye explained while examining the other rings.
Zuo Dao reached out to take these two Door Knockers. As soon as he held them in his hands, he felt an incredible weight that belied their size.
He couldn't identify the materials used to forge these Door Knockers but sensed that they contained Crimson Tear Gold and Fallen Star Blue Gold along with several other materials he completely recognized.
"This thing..." Zuo Dao was about to speak when he sensed a faint aura hidden within the double rings. If it weren't for his keen sensitivity to the Dao's essence, others would have truly been oblivious to it.
"What’s wrong with this thing? Deadbeat, you always talk in half sentences," Zhao Yanwu complained from the side, clearly displeased.
"This item seems useful, but I still need to study how to use it properly."
The door knocker that had been removed from the South Gate was indeed valuable to Zuo Dao. There was an inexplicable connection between items forged from similar materials. Through this connection, it was possible to form a bridge and create a passage between two realms.
"It's useful; you can take it for now," Zhao Wang said, though he felt a bit reluctant. He understood the importance of this matter.
"Thank you, both of you. I'll go into seclusion now and try to resolve this quickly. By the way, I’ll need you all to keep an eye on things here," Zuo Dao said, bowing slightly to the elders before turning to leave.
Zhao Yanwu wanted to chase after him but stopped when she remembered that Zuo Dao was going into seclusion. She could only mutter in frustration, "Damn Daozi, just like that he ran off."
"Alright, Zhao Yanwu, you should focus on your cultivation too. Don't end up being left behind when others no longer want you," Zhao Wang said, shaking his head at his granddaughter's behavior.
"Hmph, Grandpa, why are you saying that about me?" Zhao Yanwu's face flushed at his words, and she began to argue back.
"Zhao Yanwu, listen to your granduncle. Daozi has important matters to attend to," Zhao Kuangyi stepped in to diffuse the situation.
Everything Zuo Dao had mentioned made them realize he was preparing to step out of the Great Celestial Domain. Aside from some cultivators who were unaware of the truth, everyone else was preparing for this very moment. Yet despite their long efforts, they saw no glimmer of hope. The appearance of Zuo Dao had turned this possibility into reality.
During this time, they learned many things through Zuo Dao, including the shattering of the Ancient Immortal Realm and the Shackles of the Great Celestial Domain, which weighed heavily on their hearts. Once, they believed that becoming an Immortal Emperor was the pinnacle of the immortal path, but little did they know that the Immortal Emperor was merely the beginning of another chapter, with even higher peaks awaiting their conquest.
Although they were unsure how far they could go, this uncertainty could not serve as an excuse to halt their progress.
"I'll be leaving first. Just hearing that guy makes me a bit nervous. However, during this time, I've sensed a glimmer of opportunity. I can't just sit around; I need to enter seclusion too," Chang He declared decisively, not bothering to say goodbye as he dashed back to his Cave.
"Grandpa, what's going on?" Zhao Yanwu asked, somewhat confused.
Zhao Wang lovingly patted his granddaughter's head.
"My dear, listen to your grandpa. If you want to stay by Daozi's side, you must work hard to improve your cultivation! If there's ever a moment when you can't keep up with him, you might lose him."
The two elders understood their granddaughter exceedingly well. Unless something extraordinary happened, she would likely continue playing alongside him.
Zhao Yanwu responded with a vague understanding but secretly vowed to always stay close to Zuo Dao and never leave his side.
After obtaining the pair of Door Knockers, Zuo Dao entered seclusion. He was certain that these Door Knockers were one of the means to access other realms.
If these were indeed the Door Knockers from the South Gate, then he had struck gold this time. Although he was unsure if this world's immortal realm resembled the one he knew in his past life, if it was similar enough, then the realm connected by these Door Knockers would undoubtedly be one of the most crucial domains among the nine fragments—the Court.
