As the Third Monk appeared, the atmosphere in the arena began to tense up. However, no one made a move. Both Yan Zhen and Innocent could tell that these three individuals were not on the same side; there was a clear gap between them, and they were all on guard against one another.
Zuo Dao had noticed these people early on but had no idea about their backgrounds. He had only been in the Great Celestial Domain for a little over a hundred years, most of which he spent in seclusion. Aside from his journey from Zhao Wang Village to Liu Yue City, he was almost completely ignorant of the figures within the Great Celestial Domain.
He secretly summoned the Zhao Clan's Two Kings.
"Old gentlemen, can you help me identify who these people are?" Zuo Dao pointed at the eleven Cultivators outside, addressing the two elders of the Zhao Family.
The two elders were aware of the significance of this Transcend Tribulation; they knew that Heterodox forces had come out in full force, something they had never witnessed before. It was evident how important this Transcend Tribulation was to Zuo Dao. Yet, it had barely been a moment since he arrived, and now a large group had returned, leading him to appear in the starry sea.
The two elders stood frozen in place as they looked at what Zuo Dao pointed out, their minds filled with questions.
Noticing their unusual reaction, Zuo Dao realized that they recognized these people but couldn't understand why they were reacting this way.
"What’s wrong, gentlemen?"
Hearing Zuo Dao's voice snapped them back to reality.
"This is completely impossible!" Zhao Kuangyi exclaimed, disbelief etched across his face as if he had seen something he shouldn't have.
"What’s impossible?" Zuo Dao asked, feeling confused.
"My younger brother means that these people should not be here at all," Zhao Kuangyin slowly explained. It was clear to Zuo Dao that his emotions were running high at this moment.
"Grandfather, what are you talking about? Who are these people?" Zhao Yanwu interjected between the three of them. "Why don’t I know about them either?"
Having been cast into the Dark Realm by the two elders, Zhao Yanwu wasn't very familiar with everyone in the Great Celestial Domain, but she generally had an impression of those she should know. She could see that the two elders were extremely troubled.
"Sigh." After a deep breath, Zhao Kuangyin said, "It seems that rumor is true."
"What news?" At that moment, Zuo Dao's curiosity surged. From the words of the two elders, he could tell that these people were not ordinary; otherwise, the elders wouldn't have lost their composure.
However, after hearing Zhao Wang's words, he finally understood why these individuals should not be present in this place.
The ancestors of the Zhao Clan were not considered a prominent family in ancient times, but they held a respectable position within the court.
A great battle in antiquity had shattered an era. Yet, some ancient immortals managed to survive, each bearing severe injuries.
These surviving ancient immortals passed down their legacies from generation to generation. In truth, the Great Celestial Domain was not a complete world; it was merely a fragment of the Ancient Court that had been destroyed.
Although the records of the Ancient Ancestor Sect did not explicitly state this, they vaguely pointed to it. Moreover, for some reason, certain matters were only briefly mentioned.
The incomplete world resulted in an incomplete path for cultivators in this domain. Once a cultivator reached a certain realm, they could no longer advance; the Immortal Emperor was already the pinnacle of this realm.
However, very few people were aware of this fact, and such knowledge could not be made public. Revealing it would greatly diminish cultivators' motivation and could lead to extremely adverse effects.
This secret was held by only a select few. These individuals invested countless thoughts and methods to break through to higher realms. Eventually, they found a clue in their ancestors' records.
The clue consisted of just two words—Tribulation.
No one understood what these two words truly meant. Finally, at some point in time, an extraordinary figure emerged. With overwhelming strength, he reached the pinnacle of this world. However, when he discovered that this pinnacle was not the end he sought, he angered the Dao and incurred punishment—what is known as Tribulation.
It was only then that they realized what their ancestors meant by Tribulation.
After that extraordinary figure attracted his tribulation, a battle raged for several days. Just like today, he shattered a sea of stars; however, that time revealed a glimmer of opportunity.
A sufficiently powerful tribulation could break through the barriers of this domain and reach another world. No one knew what that world would be like, but it represented hope. Yet, that extraordinary figure ultimately failed and fell beneath the weight of his tribulation.
At this point, Zuo Dao finally understood. Just as he had thought, the Great Celestial Domain was indeed a world of its own, albeit one where the Dao was incomplete. No wonder he had seen a glimpse of an anomaly during the Transcend Tribulation of the Two Women.
Among the eleven Cultivators present, Zhao Elder only recognized a few. One of them was the first Cultivator to appear—Killer of a Thousand Autumns, Solitary of a Thousand Sorrows.
According to legend, a group of Cultivators had reached the pinnacle of this world and united to launch another assault on the Dao in an attempt to break through. However, they chose to do so deep within the starry sea. No one knew the outcome of that battle or their true motives.
After that battle, news of these Cultivators vanished. They claimed to be searching for ancient relics in the depths of the starry sea, but in reality, they aimed to shatter the barriers of this world. Unfortunately, they failed.
Members of the Zhao Clan also participated in that endeavor. However, one returned gravely injured and soon passed away. From the notes left behind by this ancestor, Zhao Wang learned this secret. Yet, because this ancestor had written in a vague manner, Zhao Wang believed it was merely a legend.
If this particular Cultivator was indeed a survivor from that group, then he must have existed for at least several hundred thousand years.
The recent spectacle of the Two Women Transcending Tribulation had drawn these beings out once more; however, they did not anticipate the outcome.
The Two Women chose Nirvana, turning their long wait of hundreds of thousands of years into mere illusions. Yet, their Nirvana also rekindled hope within these ancient beings.
Each one of these immortal existences possessed insights far beyond what ordinary people could fathom. Although the Two Women had undergone Nirvana, their rebirth would inevitably attract calamity again if sufficient resources were available.
They aimed to capture the Two Women as a source of calamity. If one attempt failed, they would make hundreds; eventually, one would succeed in breaking through this realm's Dao.
Time had become an inconsequential matter for them; perhaps what they lacked least was time itself.
First came Yan Zhen, followed by Innocent, who consecutively thwarted their plans. This dealt a blow to their pride.
"These individuals have transcended the Realm of Immortal Emperor and reached an unfathomable level; even I cannot imagine what heights they have attained," Zhao Kuangyin remarked as he gazed at them. His eyes reflected envy, pity, and a hint of loneliness.
Zuo Dao looked at Zhao Wang and fully understood his feelings. To possess such cultivation yet be trapped in one place due to the incompleteness of the Dao was indeed a tragic affair—like wearing fine clothes while walking unnoticed in the night.
As a few people chatted, changes finally began to unfold in the arena.
Gu Qianchou stepped back a few paces after the third person appeared, his gaze shifting towards the Flower Skirt Monk.
"You don't need to look at me, you bastard. I, Yu Duo Qing, won't make a move. Bloodthirst is in a rage, so let him have his way," the Flower Skirt Monk, Yu Jinqing, said, understanding Gu Qianchou's intentions from his actions.
"Yurenyao, you really know me well," Bloodthirst said, casting a bloodthirsty smile at Yan and Wu.
"I didn't expect that after such a long time away, I would still encounter cultivators like you. Given your decent talents, I've changed my mind. I’ve decided not to kill you."
Innocent couldn't help but smile faintly at Bloodthirst's words.
"Then I should thank you?"
"Gagaga... No need to thank me, because I'm going to turn you into puppets," Bloodthirst cackled as he lunged towards the two.
A gloomy mist, Blood Mist, swirled around as Bloodthirst moved.
A Bloody Handprint appeared.
Blood strands dripped from the palm print and hovered above Innocent's head. The strands seemed to have a life of their own as they coiled around Innocent.
Yan Zhen's eyes turned cold as he reached for his sword, but little did he know that Bloodthirst had already set his sights on him.
"Don't worry, buddy; you're included too." As he spoke, another Bloody Handprint emerged in the starry sea and reached out toward him.
Innocent summoned the Inkstone once again, placing it above his head. A waterfall of ink cascaded from the stone, enveloping him in its depths. All the blood threads fell upon the dark waterfall.
Hiss, hiss, hiss.
A series of spine-chilling sounds echoed. The Inkstone emitted a strong black light, repelling the giant handprint from outside.
"What?" Bloodthirst did not expect that the opponent merely summoned a magical artifact to block his Bloody Handprint. Although he had only used thirty percent of his strength, even Gu Qianchou, a top-tier expert, would not dare to take it head-on. As he gazed at the Inkstone hovering above Innocent, a glimmer of greed appeared in Bloodthirst's eyes.
What surprised him even more was Yan Zhen.
The Great Guardian Sword was drawn, and with a single strike, it shattered his blood handprint.
"Good, good, good. They are all mine." With a howl, Bloodthirst struck out with both palms again, sending a seven-layered blood handprint towards the two.
Gu Qianchou and Yu Duo Qing watched from the side. After Yan Zhen had effortlessly blocked their attack with his stunning sword strike, they realized that the sword in Yan Zhen's hand was no ordinary weapon. They were even more astonished to find that Innocent also possessed an artifact that piqued their interest.
Who were these people? They held their own heights; under normal circumstances, nothing could catch their eye as they only cared for the Great Dao. Yet, the Inkstone and the Great Guardian Sword stirred their greed.
However, with Bloodthirst present, they felt it unwise to intervene. Still, they knew that these treasures must not fall into his hands. After all, there were others present besides them.
"Hmph, Bloodthirst, I've been looking for you for a long time. I haven't settled the score for that last palm strike yet." As Bloodthirst made his move, a fourth figure finally appeared.
