"The meaning of this statement is quite simple," Tang Fengyue said, flicking his fingers. "If you have the ability, you can take the entire Heterodox for yourself. It's that straightforward."
"What do you mean by that?" Zhao Quan asked sharply.
"It seems you've really lost your wits as an elder, not even understanding the meaning of this statement." Since the mask had already been torn off, there was no need for politeness. Tang Fengyue's words were filled with malice, making Zhao Quan tremble with anger.
"Almost half of the elders present have agreed to my proposal. The rest have not expressed their opinions, neither supporting nor opposing it, which means you don't have a single supporter. From now on, Tang Fengyue, you are no longer the leader of Heterodox," Zhao Quan suppressed his emotions.
As long as he could bring Tang Fengyue down, he could let him enjoy his moment of pride for now. When he held the power in his hands, he would settle the score with him later. At that moment, Zhao Quan felt a surge of excitement.
"Do you really want to be the leader?" Tang Fengyue sneered at him.
"It's not about what I want; it's about the future of Heterodox. You are no longer fit to be the leader because we don't need a puppet leader." After saying this, Zhao Quan looked at the other elders with righteous indignation. "Heterodox belongs to us, not to some so-called young master."
Is this what it feels like to control everything? It felt exhilarating. After saying all this, Zhao Quan already felt like he was the number one person in Heterodox; the feeling of power was wonderful!
"Zhao, watch your words," a member of the Lu Family could no longer hold back. "Some things you can do and let go, but some people are not ones you can insult at will."
"Am I wrong? Where was your so-called young master when Heterodox was being established? Where was he when we were struggling? Now that Heterodox is finally showing some promise, he comes out. Are we all just working for him?" Zhao Quan immediately countered.
"Do you want to know what that young master was doing back then? Do you really want to know?" Tang Fengyue did not expect Zhao Quan to be this reckless. "I can responsibly tell you that every pill and every cultivation method you've received from Heterodox was granted by that young master. Is that enough?"
As soon as he finished speaking, there was silence in the room. Even Zhao Quan did not expect things to turn out this way. If what Tang Fengyue said was true and everything had been granted by that young master, then it would indeed be difficult to handle.
He knew what those pills and cultivation methods meant; they were things that had never appeared on the market before. Each one would cause a stir if released.
"Is that really true? Weren't these things obtained from a shared ancient cave? How did they become the young master's now?" Zhao Quan quickly thought of a counterargument.
Tang Fengyue was utterly speechless at Zhao Quan's response. It was also his fault for trying to avoid shocking revelations by creating a story about an ancient cave; he never expected Zhao Quan would take it seriously.
"Fine," Tang Fengyue said, tired of arguing with Zhao Quan. "Whatever you say is true. Now Heterodox is yours; do whatever you want."
As soon as these words were spoken, several elders below stood up and shouted.
"Absolutely not! We cannot do this, Sect Leader! Heterodox cannot be without you!"
Looking at the elders who spoke, a warmth flickered in Tang Fengyue's eyes. These were all old men who had followed him since the establishment of Heterodox. They had never sought power within Heterodox; they simply focused on doing their own tasks quietly. This sudden upheaval had caught them off guard. They had not expressed their concerns about Heterodox's future, but that did not mean they were unaware of the reality.
Heterodox under Tang Fengyue was undoubtedly thousands of times stronger than under Zhao Quan. There was simply no comparison between the two.
Zhao Quan also gazed at the elders, though he did not show any outward expression, he harbored intense hatred for them deep down. However, his seniority did not match theirs, so he found it difficult to refute their words. In Heterodox, respect for the elderly was deeply ingrained. If he showed dissatisfaction towards these elders now, it would create significant obstacles in his path to becoming the sect leader.
"Elders, there is no need for further discussion. My mind is made up. If any of you wish to join me, you may follow," Tang Fengyue said, looking at the elders. He did not want to abandon them; he was fundamentally a person who valued relationships.
"Tang Fengyue, what do you mean? You can leave if you want, but why incite the elders to betray the sect as well?"
Hearing Zhao Quan's reprimand, Tang Fengyue smiled.
"Are you that eager? You should know that I haven't left yet. And who are you to define betrayal? You must realize that you are not yet the master of Heterodox!"
The Lu Family nearby chuckled quietly. This was also Tang Fengyue's intention; they wanted to hand over a united and loving Heterodox to Zuo Dao. This was also a test—only those who truly passed would be allowed to serve under the young master.
Not everyone had the right to follow them. They understood that as long as Zuo Dao's name spread throughout the Great Star Domain, countless elites would flock to them. However, they sought true elites—not those motivated by profit but by purpose.
"I am an elder of Heterodox; I have an obligation to oversee this matter," Zhao Quan said, seizing the opportunity to attack Tang Fengyue.
"You still remember you are an elder of Heterodox? Good! Then let me remind you what you've done for Heterodox," Tang Fengyue's tone sharpened. "Come forth and let all present elders know what they have done for Heterodox."
Just as doubts arose among the elders, a figure slowly appeared in the hall.
"Subordinate Dark One pays respects to Messenger Tang." The newcomer was dressed in black, shrouded in a layer of dark mist that obscured their features from view.
"Who dares to intrude upon the sacred ground of Heterodox?" Zhao Quan was taken aback at first upon seeing the newcomer, but then he shouted loudly. The elders watching this scene couldn't help but mock him inwardly. After all, everyone had already acknowledged the envoy from Tang, so it was clear that they were from Tang Fengyue's faction.
"Zhao Quan, put away your theatrics. Let's hear what everyone has done for Heterodox," Lu Family said, casting a glance at Zhao Quan. He hadn't realized before how much he disliked this man.
"Yes, Envoy Lu." Dark One finally stood up and began to recount events. However, with each word he spoke, the expressions of the elders in attendance changed dramatically. Only a few remained calm; most of the elders began to stir restlessly.
"Tang Sect Leader, what do you mean by this? We have dedicated ourselves to Heterodox, yet we are still subjected to surveillance?" Zhao Quan interrupted Dark One with a dark expression.
"I'm sorry, but I am no longer the Sect Leader; I am merely Tang Fengyue now. Why is Elder Zhao in such a hurry? Let's wait until Dark One finishes," Tang Fengyue said, waving his hand to signal Zhao Quan to step aside for now.
"Since you claim you are no longer the leader of Heterodox, what right do you have to act so superior?" Zhao Quan disregarded him entirely, seizing every opportunity to attack Tang Fengyue.
"That's true. Brother Lu, shall we leave?" Tang Fengyue stood up and looked at Lu Family. "What are we still doing here? They are trying to drive us away."
"Hmph, they want you gone, not me. I'm still the Vice Sect Leader of Heterodox; if anyone should leave, it's you," Lu Family replied lazily after changing his Cultivation Method. He preferred sitting over standing and lying down over sitting.
"Then forget it." After hearing Lu Family's words, Tang Fengyue sat back down. "If you're not leaving, why should I? After all, I am still a junior brother of the Vice Sect Leader of Heterodox."
Everyone present could see that these two were clearly putting on a show together.
Zhao Quan finally exploded; he realized he had been played by them all along.
"Very well, very well! You both are quite something," he said through gritted teeth, his anger boiling over. "If you don't want to leave, then don't."
No longer hiding his intentions, Zhao Quan suddenly moved into the crowd of elders and declared one sentence.
"Attack."
The situation in the hall changed dramatically as more than half of the elders launched sudden attacks on those beside them. The entire hall erupted with spiritual energy surging wildly.
As Zhao Quan shouted these words, most of the elders who had been attacked became alert, though they never expected that their fellow disciples, with whom they usually got along well, would actually turn against them.
Everyone moved, except for two individuals: Tang Fengyue and the Lu Family. The Dark One had already concealed himself at the first opportunity, causing Zhao Quan's attack to land in empty space.
With his strike failing, Zhao Quan quickly adjusted his target and began to attack with purpose. It seemed as if Tang Fengyue and the Lu Family were forgotten, sitting in their seats and watching the chaos unfold.
Elders continued to be injured and forced out of the battle, but Zhao Quan did not strike to kill. If he went too far, it would have a detrimental effect on the entire Heterodox faction.
However, halfway through the fight, Zhao Quan suddenly noticed something alarming: more and more of his own elders were being forced out of the battle. In the blink of an eye, three or four had already been knocked out.
The entire hall was in disarray, yet the guards outside seemed oblivious to the commotion, with no one coming to investigate.
Tang Fengyue and the Lu Family observed everything closely. They had anticipated such a situation, but seeing it unfold before their eyes left them feeling somewhat disheartened. What they had hoped would not happen was indeed happening. Their grasp on the situation was not as thorough as Zuo Dao's. It was time to resolve everything.
"Come out," Tang Fengyue said. Immediately, spatial fluctuations began to ripple around the hall as figures emerged one after another.
All were at the Robbery Realm level, dressed identically to the earlier appearance of the Dark One.
"Take them all down; those who resist will be killed without mercy," Tang Fengyue's cold voice echoed in everyone's ears.
Some elders sensed that things were going awry and rushed toward the exit of the hall. At this point, anyone could tell that this was a trap that had been laid long ago; it was just unfortunate that they were foolish enough to jump right into it.
