The appearance of Zuo Dao took both Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi by surprise. As they looked at the figure materializing before them, the two leaders of the Elder Council felt as if they were facing a formidable enemy.
The Purple Continent could serve as the headquarters for the Co-Governance Council, where the comings and goings of ordinary cultivators were meticulously recorded, let alone the Council Hall of the Co-Governance Council. There were no fewer than a hundred guards lurking in the shadows, not to mention the rotating elders who constantly monitored everything.
Yet despite all this, Zuo Dao had still appeared, right in front of them. The thought of Zuo Dao's methods sent chills down their spines; if he were here to assassinate them, Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi knew they would be unable to defend themselves.
Huang Xishi was even more astonished; she hadn’t sensed Zuo Dao’s arrival either. She began to believe Tai Shu Yi's words—this person was born to astonish others.
“Zuo Dao, a newly admitted disciple of Spirit Sword Mountain, is also the current Elder Disciple with significant influence within Spirit Sword Mountain. He is highly valued by Tai Shu Yi and Tai Shu Reincarnation and has the potential to become the next Sword Master of Spirit Sword Mountain. It is suspected that he possesses dual mastery in alchemy and weapon forging.”
The two were momentarily stunned but quickly regained their composure. As Yan Qimi spoke these words, he couldn’t even believe them himself. If he hadn’t already seen Zuo Dao’s image, he would have thought that the intelligence gathering was just a joke.
Although they didn’t detect any fluctuations of spiritual energy from Zuo Dao, this cultivator was terrifying. Just his entrance indicated that he was definitely not an ordinary person. The information they had received was incomplete; at least Zuo Dao’s realm was vaguely described with only a few numbers:
Qi Refinement Level, suspected to be a Virtual Realm Cultivator.
Damn Qi Refinement Level, damn Virtual Realm Cultivator. Even the Grand Elder couldn’t pull off something like this!
Zuo Dao didn’t give them time to be astonished; as he put it: "My time is precious; every minute counts for alchemy and weapon forging."
“Absolutely correct, but unfortunately there’s no reward.” After glancing at the two, Zuo Dao showed no further reaction and simply tilted his head toward a certain direction in the sky.
“Have you seen enough? If you’re done watching, come down quickly. If it weren’t for your heavy clothing, I’d really worry about you exposing yourself. I can’t believe you’re acting like a master while your disciple is on the verge of being killed and you still have time to enjoy the show.”
“Isn’t it because you’re here? Why should I come out?” Under the incredulous gazes of Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi, Huang Xishi revealed herself in mid-air.
“This is impossible! The entire Purple Palace is shrouded in formations; how could you appear without triggering them?” Zhan Mubai was starting to lose his composure. The seemingly impregnable Purple Palace had been infiltrated by two cultivators in such a short time without anyone noticing; it was as if their warning formations were utterly ineffective.
“Why is it impossible? This person can do it; what about me?” Huang Xishi continued to stare at Zuo Dao without finishing her sentence.
“Indeed, you are much stronger than those so-called talents in the meeting.”
Feng Miaomiao looked at her master as if she had discovered something astonishing. Huang Xishi had never praised anyone like this before. Even as her disciple, she had never seen her act so fondly.
"Senior, you flatter me. I'm just a wandering cultivator, unworthy of such praise," she replied. Her past experiences taught her that flattery often came with ulterior motives, especially from a woman who was powerful, influential, and beautiful.
Brother Wuji's mother had once said a wise saying that he had not forgotten.
"Put away your scheming thoughts. Do you think I'm as easy to deceive as that girl Yun?" Huang Xishi scolded with a laugh.
Her laughter stunned Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi.
"Bloodhand Immortal Garb actually laughed," they thought, questioning whether they had fallen into an illusion; it felt too surreal.
Huang Xishi seemed to know what they were thinking.
"Have you never seen a beautiful woman smile?"
"No."
"Not at all."
When the two realized they had misspoken, they quickly corrected themselves. They felt inadequate against this woman alone.
"Whether there is or isn't, what kind of answer is that?" Huang Xishi remarked, noticing Zuo Dao's sudden change in mood—she herself was puzzled by her own behavior, having done something she normally wouldn't.
From the moment Huang Xishi appeared, Zhan Mubai sensed something was off, particularly regarding Zuo Dao.
Huang Xishi was undeniably the top expert in their circle. This was an indisputable fact. Therefore, the Co-Governance Council had made arrangements concerning her presence. However, Zuo Dao was someone they could not see through at all.
You are at Qi Refinement Level, but would Tai Shu Yi choose a Qi Refinement Level cultivator as the Elder Disciple of this mountain? There are plenty of dual cultivation opportunities with Qi Refinement Level cultivators; why hasn't Spirit Sword Mountain chosen them?
The aura emanating from Zuo Dao made both of them feel inferior in his presence.
Among cultivators, such a situation would not arise unless there was a significant difference in realms.
A cultivator above the Void Realm? Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi felt that things were slipping out of their control. Dealing with a Huang Xishi had already cost them most of the elders in the meeting. If another cultivator even more powerful than Huang Xishi were to join, they couldn't bear to imagine what the outcome would be.
At that moment, Yan Qimi suddenly began to resent the person who had recklessly attacked Spirit Sword Mountain without understanding the situation.
Huang Xishi looked at the two with a teasing expression.
"What’s wrong? Why are you both sweating?"
"Cough, cough, cough." Zhan Mubai chuckled awkwardly. "It’s just a bit hot, isn’t it, Elder Yan?"
As soon as he said this, Feng Miaomiao finally couldn't help but laugh out loud. The reason was obvious.
"How can you still laugh?" Huang Xishi seemed to have just noticed Feng Miaomiao's presence.
"How have I taught you? Have you forgotten everything?"
Feng Miaomiao looked at her master, stuck out her delicate tongue, and stepped forward to take Huang Xishi's hand.
"I haven't forgotten, Master. One must be ladylike, calm, and composed."
"Nonsense." Huang Xishi's temper flared.
"That’s how it is normally, but now they’re pushing you to your limits! What ladylike behavior! Just beat them until they don’t recognize their own mothers. Remember this! How many times do I have to teach you? If you had even half of their talent, I would be overjoyed."
Listening to Huang Xishi's words, Zuo Dao broke into a cold sweat. He finally understood why Feng Miaomiao had such a temperament; it was entirely due to her master's teachings.
Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi stood by like mere onlookers, watching Huang Xishi teach, completely ignored. Yan Qimi felt anxious, and Zhan Mubai was even more so; he sent several messages, but they vanished into the void without a response. Another terrifying realization struck him: the Great Formation he had set up earlier was now beyond his control.
Now they were essentially in the same space as Zuo Dao and the others. Whatever happened here would remain unknown to the outside world.
Seeing that Huang Xishi was about to continue, Zuo Dao hurriedly stepped forward to intervene. At that moment, Feng Miaomiao cast him a grateful smile. Her master was great in many ways, but when it came to lecturing others, he could be unbearably long-winded.
"Senior, let me handle our Spirit Sword Mountain matters first; you have plenty of time to educate your disciple."
"Stop calling me senior; just call me Aunt Huang," Huang Xishi said, understanding Zuo Dao's intention and readily handing over control of the situation to him.
Finally, it quieted down. Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi both sighed in relief; Huang Xishi's presence was overwhelmingly strong, especially when she was reprimanding someone.
"Elders, I have something I’d like to discuss with you regarding the Co-Governance Council," Zuo Dao said, looking at them with a bright smile.
"May I ask what Young Master Zuo wishes to discuss?" Yan Qimi quickly responded upon seeing his demeanor. He wanted to avoid hearing Huang Xishi's voice again; if someone else treated him coldly regarding his Bloodhand Immortal Garb, he might just slap them dead. Additionally, he wanted to buy some time.
Having spent much time with Zhan Mubai, he knew something was amiss.
"It's nothing serious," Zuo Dao said as he weighed the sword ornament in his hand.
"I just wanted to take you both to see some flowers."
