Upon hearing Xunuo's words, the two disciples of the Gu Family stuck out their tongues and fled as if in a panic. After sending them away, Xunuo hurriedly ran up the mountain. He had not expected that three Foundation Establishment Ancestors would reach an agreement so quickly, and that they would be from the Liu Family exploring this peak. Once these Ancestors of the Cultivation Family entered, they began to act methodically, leaving Xunuo in a difficult position. Going down would surely lead him to collide head-on with the Liu Family Ancestors, so it was better to take a risk and head up the mountain to see who could obtain the inheritance first. He was not arrogant enough to think he could compete with a group of cultivators led by a Foundation Stage Cultivator. 0

After a moment, Xunuo reached the summit, where he was greeted by a magnificent cluster of palaces. Despite having endured countless years, they appeared merely aged yet still stood tall and resilient, showing no signs of damage. Stunned, Xunuo felt a sense of helplessness wash over him. Not only might there be restrictions inside, but even searching through these palaces without incident would take several days. Gritting his teeth, he realized there was no turning back; he slapped his storage bag and flew out several formation flags. He set up a defensive array on the main path at the summit, hoping to delay anyone for even a moment. Then he divided areas with Cold Ice, leaving contact methods before they both began their searches. 0

These palaces were enormous. Upon entering the first palace, Xunuo was awestruck by the grandeur before him. The interior was exceptionally spacious, resembling a small plaza. The vast hall had no columns, and its high dome was adorned with images of Rakshasas, Yashas, Mountain Spirits, and Nine-Tails among other fearsome creatures. At the front of the hall stood a majestic throne on nine steps, with a long white jade table in front of it that held two empty jade lamps. Although Xunuo was amazed by the palace's magnificence, he had no time to linger. The items that should have been in those jade lamps had undoubtedly been taken by the last person who entered this site; after a quick glance, he turned and rushed toward the next palace. He went in and out of five palaces in succession; each had various designs but shared one thing in common: where items should have been placed in the halls, they were all empty. 0

Xunuo considered that it was unlikely that the two Gu Family disciples had taken anything; they simply did not have enough time to traverse five palaces. It must have been taken by the last cultivator who entered this place. However, according to Cold Ice's words, taking an item would result in being expelled from this space. Based on this deduction, if his assumption was incorrect, then coming here would be tantamount to seeking death. The only way to verify this theory now was to find something that had not been taken. Feeling somewhat frantic, Xunuo dashed through the palace cluster until he reached the ninth palace where he found three jade lamps on a jade platform in the center that still contained items. 0

Sighing softly, Xunuo approached them. There was a possibility of being expelled; he needed to choose one item among these three that seemed most valuable. A thumb-sized black pill caught his eye; after measuring it visually and by scent and probing with his Divine Sense, he searched through his memories but could not identify what kind of pill it was or even its ingredients. He gave up on it. Next was a jade slip; probing it with his Divine Sense revealed it to be blank—an empty jade slip—and Xunuo nearly lost his temper over it. He abandoned that too. Finally came a copper coin; Xunuo's face flushed red as he exploded with curses. Was this some kind of joke? Without needing to think further, he could only choose the black pill since both the jade slip and copper coin held no value at all. This pill would need to be taken outside to find a high-level Alchemist for identification before knowing if it was worth this risk. 0

Just as Xunuo reached for the pill, a rumbling sound echoed from outside—the Liu Family practitioners were beginning to break through his array. 0

The defensive array set at the mountain summit wasn't particularly powerful and lacked an array master controlling it; breaking through was just a matter of time. Sighing deeply, Xunuo lost interest in sending Cold Ice a Sound Transmission Talisman as well. He figured it would be difficult for her to obtain this inheritance within such a short time frame; thus, he decided to take a risk and hide away in hopes of seizing an opportunity amidst chaos. Xunuo absolutely refused to stay behind as collateral damage—this point had already been agreed upon between them beforehand. 0

He snatched up the black pill while simultaneously activating his Magic Shield in preparation for any unforeseen circumstances. However, all efforts seemed wasted; upon grasping the pill, there was no expulsion force nor any unusual sensation at all. Grabbing at the other two items as well while muttering "Hurry up," Xunuo spun around but encountered no changes whatsoever. Perhaps this wasn’t the right place; he turned and dashed toward another grand hall—empty again. The sounds of breaking through grew increasingly violent from behind him, shaking the mountaintop itself. 0

After checking seven grand halls in succession—all devoid of anything—it seemed those three items were all that remained here; everything else had been taken by others. 0

At that moment, two voices reached Xunuo’s ears: the rumbling sound of an array being breached and Cold Ice’s urgent call: "Come quickly." After pinpointing her location slightly, he rushed toward one of the palaces. 0

This palace differed significantly from those Xunuo had previously searched—not only was it larger in area but also featured three jade platforms at its center. One jade platform was covered by a blood-red Blue Shield while the other two were completely empty. Strangely enough, there stood a stone tablet before these three platforms with Cold Ice standing before it intently observing. 0

As Xunuo approached for a closer look, he realized that this stone tablet recorded the rise and fall of this Ancient Sect along with its cultivation methods' characteristics. Though he had no time for detailed examination, one thing became clear: this sect's inheritance lay within that Blood-red Light Shield. If there were any chances of being expelled from here, it would be necessary to obtain this inheritance. 0

According to what was recorded about their cultivation methods on the stone tablet, it appeared that an ascendant from Strange Person Sect had been the last cultivator who entered this site previously. This Ancient Sect had five peaks corresponding to five branches—each possessing different inheritances. This particular branch was called Corpse Fiend Sect which practiced using corpses as their path—refining their physical bodies into corpses while storing their souls within Soul Nurturing Pearls occupying Mud Pill Palaces. 0

Upon reaching this point in his reading, Xunuo lost interest in continuing further; regardless of anything else, obtaining Soul Nurturing Pearls was essential for achieving enlightenment—otherwise one's soul would dissipate into chaos rendering all efforts wasted. 0

However, Cold Ice pointed out an inscription for Xunuo’s attention—a line detailing how Corpse Fiend Sect managed to concoct a type of Soul Nourishing Pill without using Soul Nurturing Pearls for soul preservation which could also prevent souls from scattering apart. Instead of delving into methods for soul preservation further right away though,Xunuo carefully examined descriptions regarding Soul Nourishing Pill before thoughtfully retrieving that black pill he'd just acquired."Could this be it?" 0

Cold Ice glanced at it, his eyes brightening. "It should be this." 0

Xunuo raised his hand and tossed the black pill to Cold Ice, then took out a jade slip. Using his Divine Sense, he covered the stone tablet and copied the inscriptions onto it, tossing it to Cold Ice as well. "We need to break this Restriction quickly and retrieve the inheritance inside. Time is of the essence; I fear that the Liu Family Practitioner will search for us any moment now." 0

Although Cold Ice coveted the Soul Nourishing Pill in Xunuo's hand, he did not expect Xunuo to give it to him for free. This was the Main Road, certainly not an ordinary item. Upon receiving the Soul Nourishing Pill tossed by Xunuo, Cold Ice felt a moment of unreality, unable to believe it. Xunuo, fully aware of the urgency of time, ignored Cold Ice's daze and pulled out a set of formation plates, setting up a formation around the blood-red Blue Shield on the Jade Platform. This was a Fire Attribute Confinement Killing Formation; Xunuo believed that using fire would be more effective against this Yin Sha and blood Killing Intent-laden Restriction, so he refrained from adding any unnecessary formations. 0

Once the formation was set up, Xunuo also laid down a realistic Defense Formation at the entrance of the hall, disabling other functions of the formation while maximizing its illusion and shielding capabilities. Then, Xunuo waved the Formation Flag to activate the power of the confinement formation. Instantly, fireballs and fire blades rained down upon the blood-red Blue Shield. However, ancient Restrictions were not to be underestimated; under the relentless assault of fireballs and blades, the Blood-red Light Shield merely rippled slightly, showing no signs of weakening. 0

Having experience in breaking ancient Restrictions, Xunuo knew that once he started breaking it, he could not stop; otherwise, all efforts would be in vain. The purpose of unleashing the confinement formation was mainly to wear down its defenses over time; however, breaking through would still rely on his own magical tools and spells. Pointing at the Blood-red Light Shield, Six Heavenly Shadow Darts lined up in a straight line and shot towards it. After a series of loud explosions, the Blood-red Light Shield remained completely unharmed. Seeing that Heavenly Shadow Spike had little effect against this Restriction made Xunuo realize that their attributes were too similar, causing some of their power to cancel each other out. Even activating Heavenly Shadow Spike's hidden properties would not yield significant results. With a wave of his hand, he moved Six Heavenly Shadow Darts outside the Defensive Array at the entrance. 0

Seeing this, Cold Ice brought his hands together and pushed outward with his palms, sending a strange wave toward the Blood-red Light Shield. Again, there was no damage inflicted on it. Cold Ice's expression darkened; he had confidence in this spell of his, but the current outcome left him feeling embarrassed. 0

As Cold Ice prepared to try again with another spell after forming hand seals, Xunuo suddenly said, "Cold Friend, go guard the hall entrance; leave this to me. Your Cultivation Method is not suited for breaking this Restriction." Cold Ice's face flushed red but said nothing further as he turned and stepped into the formation at the hall entrance. 0

After using Heavenly Shadow Spike once, Xunuo understood that he should use appropriate methods to break this Restriction and naturally wouldn't let Cold Ice waste his efforts here. It was better for him to focus on defense to avoid being ambushed while Xunuo worked on breaking through. Xunuo clapped his storage bag and summoned a Flame Fork, Golden Flying Knife, Crimson Fire Whip, and Blue Flame Shield one after another. The Flame Fork swirled with flames while the Golden Flying Knife left a golden afterimage as both magical tools struck down upon the Blood-red Light Shield. Finally, a massive wave appeared on the Blood-red Light Shield as it flickered with blood light to dissipate these two attacks. 0

With a cold smile, Xunuo pointed at the Blue Flame Shield as it transformed into a gyroscope covered in scales that slowly rotated in mid-air while simultaneously turning the Crimson Fire Whip into a massive red python with flames shooting into the sky. The python was about ten zhang long; swinging its long tail with a loud crack against the Blue Flame Shield caused its rotation speed to suddenly increase. Seeing this, the python became even more excited and continued to lash its tail against the gyroscope until it became an illusory form with purple scales flaring open against the wind. With a serious expression, Xunuo pointed at Crimson Fire Whip as he prepared to unleash their combined attack. 0

At that moment, however, a strange sound came from the entrance of the hall. 0
