Xunuo let out a sigh. Having come this far, he deeply understood the dangers Bai Wuxi had spoken of. The injuries to his flesh and blood were beyond his concern; he only focused on distributing the power of the Medicine Stone to his internal organs. Although Xunuo had several healing medicines, at this level of injury, even the Medicine Stone would struggle to restore him in a short time. Moreover, the condition of the injured was worsening, and Xunuo did not know if these healing medicines could last until he expelled the Yin Sha from his body.
As he moved forward, it was no longer a matter of whether his will was strong enough, but rather a question of ability. If his body was no longer under the control of his brain, then let Divine Sense take over. Xunuo's Divine Sense was insufficient to support his physical form, but it could still manage to push him forward for ten steps.
He completed those ten steps with a stiff gait. Standing by the Fire Pool, Xunuo felt the surging Fire of Destruction within it. The heat waves instantly burned and crystallized the cracked surface of his flesh.
Looking at himself, Xunuo self-deprecatingly remarked, "Is this how one forges weapons?" With that, he stepped into the Fire Pool.
Entering the Fire Pool was the first choice Xunuo made as he stood at its edge. Although the Fire of Destruction held a significant advantage, there was no possibility of refining the Yin Sha within his Meridian in such a short time, let alone refining the Yin Sha in his Dantian.
Xunuo believed he absolutely lacked the strength to persist here until all the Yin Sha was expelled. Therefore, he had no choice but to take the risk and enter the Fire Pool, aiming to eliminate the Yin Sha in the shortest time possible. Even if he could not escape from the Fire Pool successfully, he could hide within the Boundary Stone to heal and find a way out. However, if he could not expel all the Yin Sha at once, it would be tantamount to wasting all his efforts; he had no time for another attempt.
The Fire Pool seemed bottomless as Xunuo used Mind Power to control his body and slowly descend. The deeper he went, the higher the temperature rose and the denser the Killing Intent became. After descending about ten zhang, the Fire of Destruction breached Xunuo's Meridian defenses established by True Essence Magic and invaded deep into his Meridian. For the first time, two distinctly different Killing Intents—one from True Essence—clashed head-on within his Meridian.
Where these two Killing Intents and True Essence clashed, Xunuo felt his Meridian shatter once more. The fear in his heart surpassed even that of pain. His body uncontrollably accelerated its descent. The True Essence Magic within him could not hold back against the Meridian but did not retreat either; instead, it surged toward his flesh, bones, and organs as if trying to reclaim lost ground.
The elemental force of Fire of Destruction had become so thick that it was almost solidified; it would not fear such a minor counterattack. In an instant, it suppressed this True Essence Magic wrapped around Yin Sha in an area surrounding his Dantian and began to refine it along with Dantian itself.
At this point, Xunuo lost control over his magical power once again and could not summon even a trace of it. The fire elemental force carrying Fire Poison had ravaged what little Vitality remained within him. Fortunately, Xunuo's Fire Root constitution allowed him to endure this elemental destruction better than others. At that moment, not only had all traces of Wood Spirit Root properties vanished, but even Gold Spiritual Root properties were nowhere to be found. This was not something Xunuo intended; rather, it seemed like an instinctive protective response from his body under these circumstances. Because of this, although Xunuo's physical form was riddled with wounds and damage beyond recognition, it had yet to be completely destroyed.
Xunuo's Divine Sense was also forced back into the Sea of Consciousness. Although the Sea of Consciousness still appeared unbreakable, the Fire of Destruction never ceased its attempts at refining Mud Pill Palace.
Reaching the depths of the Fire Pool, the Fire Poison was now capable of affecting Xunuo's external Divine Sense, seemingly allowing for the possibility of refining his emitted Divine Sense from the outside. The Sea of Consciousness was the foundation that Xunuo steadfastly guarded to maintain his clarity, and it was also a source of pride for him. He would never allow the Sea of Consciousness to be invaded even slightly; retracting his Divine Sense was the only way to ensure its safety.
At this moment, projecting his Divine Sense was akin to leaving a backdoor for the Fire of Destruction to erode the Sea of Consciousness. As Xunuo retracted his Divine Sense, his body completely lost control. He plummeted rapidly into the depths of the Fire Pool, where the intensifying Fire of Destruction quickly refined the True Essence Magic that protected his Dantian. Without this protection, Xunuo's Dantian faced direct refinement by the Fire of Destruction.
In an instant, the True Essence Magic within his Dantian erupted violently, no longer rotating along its usual path but instead charging madly toward the walls of the Dantian. Under the influence of two distinctly different Killing Intent fire energies, the walls of his Dantian glowed a terrifying lava-like red, seemingly on the verge of collapse. Strangely, a faint red crystalline shell formed around his entire body.
"This feels like I'm about to forge a humanoid magical artifact," Xunuo muttered in sarcasm. Just then, the Fire of Destruction seemed furious at its inability to refine his Sea of Consciousness and suddenly surged violently toward it.
Xunuo felt a tremor within him; waves surged in the lake inside his Sea of Consciousness. His Divine Sense became momentarily disoriented. Was this a sign that the Sea of Consciousness was about to fall? he wondered to himself. But then two more intense shocks followed, leaving Xunuo's Divine Sense confused while he realized it was time to make a decision.
Xunuo had managed to hold on until now because he could defend his Sea of Consciousness and keep his Divine Sense clear. If that were to change, he would have no choice but to retreat. He had never placed his fate in others' hands and would not allow himself to be in an uncontrollable or unknown situation.
As soon as Xunuo's Divine Sense moved to probe toward the Boundary Stone, he suddenly had an epiphany and grabbed the Firebane Grass. It was time for one last attempt. In a flash, both the Firebane Grass and his storage bag appeared in his Sea of Consciousness. Grasping the Firebane Grass in one hand, he swiftly removed all talismans stuck to it with the other. The Firebane Grass twisted and jumped in Xunuo's hand like a living creature, desperately trying to escape. Unmoved, Xunuo held onto this vibrant red Fire Tree, keenly sensing its refining effect.
However, at that moment outside Mud Pill Palace, the Fire of Destruction seemed more attuned to the presence of Firebane Grass than ever before. With what felt like deep-seated hatred, it concentrated all its power and launched an attack on Xunuo's Sea of Consciousness. The waters within the Sea of Consciousness surged upward into the sky and then burst apart with a loud bang. Everything went dark before Xunuo's eyes as his Divine Sense dissipated in an instant.
Before long, Xunuo fell to the bottom of the Fire Pool. Here lay a blue Fire Sea, devoid of any red flames; however, the extreme heat had refined this area into a crystalline realm where even the ground sparkled with Azure Radiance like crystal. Lying on his back in the center of the Fire Pool, Xunuo was suspended several feet above ground by Blue Flame, as if he were being refined into an elixir within a massive furnace.
Strangely enough, there was no trace of Fire Poison at this bottom layer of the Fire Pool; instead, it was pure Extraordinary Fire energy. Xunuo's physical body found itself in a peculiar state; under such intense heat that melted gold and refined silver, it seemed to be gradually collapsing. Yet upon closer observation, one would notice that where it was being destroyed by Extraordinary Fire, vitality continuously emerged and began to regenerate and repair itself. The Extraordinary Fire was fierce while also persistent in its restoration; these two forces clashed upon him.
The Extraordinary Fire had undoubtedly triumphed over Yin Sha True Essence within his Dantian; Yin Sha True Essence appeared terrified and shrank into a ball at its center. The high temperature from Extraordinary Fire scorched and churned this curled-up mass through the walls of his Dantian. However, it showed no signs of being able to destroy those walls and thus focused its efforts on refining the Dantian itself.
Within Xunuo's Sea of Consciousness, calm had been restored; in fact, that earlier strike which had momentarily stunned him was merely the final blow from the Fire of Destruction against his Sea of Consciousness. This strike not only dazed Xunuo but also triggered a response from Killing Blade. With just a slight tremor from Killing Blade, tranquility returned instantly within his Sea of Consciousness as even the Fire of Destruction retreated in fear.
In the Sea of Consciousness, a Crimson Cormorant skimmed across the surface, taking a mouthful of the water and scattering it into the air. It then soared into the dark clouds above, which seemed to tremble in fear at the sight of the bird, rumbling ominously as it approached. The fiery red cormorant showed no fear, diving headfirst into the black clouds, stirring them into a frenzy and causing rain to pour down. In an instant, the cormorant darted back into the endless darkness surrounding the Sea of Consciousness, only to emerge moments later with a shriek, as if it had encountered a venomous snake. It landed on the surface of the Sea of Consciousness, preening its feathers while casting terrified glances at the surrounding shadows.
Xunuo was the first to regain consciousness in his Divine Sense form. Upon opening his eyes, he spotted the Crimson Cormorant resting on the Sea of Consciousness. Clearly still disoriented, Xunuo shook his head and looked around, realizing that this creature must have been transformed from Firebane Grass.
However, this place felt like a cage; as long as he didn't release it, it could only remain here. Xunuo wasn't particularly worried about this little creature. His main concern was his physical body and the environment he found himself in. After regaining a bit of clarity, he jumped out of the Sea of Consciousness.
The extraordinary heat made Xunuo shudder, but without Fire Poison affecting him anymore, he felt somewhat relieved. His physical condition seemed stable; at least it was no longer deteriorating. He opened his eyes and moved his body slightly, discovering that he could now move freely. He immediately sat cross-legged.
The Magic Vortex in his Dantian continued to rotate slowly; however, it was no longer crimson but instead radiated a blend of red and Azure Radiance. The Dantian itself hadn't changed much except that its walls had been refined to an extremely thin layer, appearing crystal clear and blue.
What puzzled Xunuo most was the appearance of a tiny Blue Flame at the center of his Dantian, about the size of a grain of rice. The blue hue emanating from the Magic Vortex seemed to be reflected by this little flame.
His Meridian was also being slowly repaired, with its walls displaying a translucent blue color as if they had been refined by this blue flame. However, the width of his Meridian had doubled compared to before. This unexpected surprise delighted Xunuo. The greatest relief came from realizing that both Yin Sha and Fire Poison no longer existed within him.
After some contemplation, Xunuo concluded that both Firebane Grass and the pure fire elemental energy in this place had played significant roles in this transformation. Surviving such dire circumstances while gaining these unexpected benefits filled him with joy. The fire elemental energy within him seemed to have seamlessly integrated with that at the bottom of the Fire Pool. With a slight push of his Huayang Classic technique, a massive amount of fire elemental energy flowed through the walls of his Dantian directly into it, merging instantly with his True Essence Magic.
