As soon as the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill entered Xunuo's abdomen, he felt a fiery medicinal power slowly rising from his Dantian. This scorching energy seemed to ignite the mana within the Dantian, causing it to rapidly burn and swell.
Immediately, this intense wave of mana surged out of the Dantian, coursing down the Meridian. A searing pain pierced deep into Xunuo's mind, nearly causing him to faint. Sweat poured from him, soaking his clothes as if they had been drenched in water.
Xunuo knew that the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill was a top-tier healing elixir capable of rapidly repairing injuries.
Not only could this pill heal most internal wounds, but its greatest effect was to mend injuries to the Sea of Consciousness. However, the overwhelming potency of the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill was something that an ordinary Cultivator could hardly withstand.
Although Xunuo was aware that he needed to remain vigilant around the Black-Clad Youth, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and sit cross-legged to refine this overpowering medicinal force.
Seeing Xunuo begin to refine the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill, the Black-Clad Youth relaxed and returned to a more casual demeanor.
As Xunuo's Divine Sense flowed with the burning mana along the Meridian, he noticed that the previously broken and fragmented Meridian was quickly rejoining under this flow of energy, emitting a crystalline glow that seemed even more resilient than before.
Moreover, this repair process was astonishingly swift; wherever the mana flowed, the Meridian was renewed. However, the pain during this process truly made Xunuo feel as if he were living in agony.
After about a cup of tea's time, this flow of mana completed a full cycle and returned to the Dantian. Xunuo subtly urged his mana, which instantly coursed through his limbs without any obstruction.
Yet, the mana ignited by the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill continued to churn within the Dantian, transforming it into a pool of fiery energy.
Xunuo had heard of the effects of the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill and knew that if he could fully refine its power at this moment, it would not only strengthen his Dantian but might also enhance his physical body significantly—potentially reaching a state comparable to that of ferocious beasts.
However, Xunuo dared not linger here for too long, fearing that the Black-Clad Youth might change his mind. The priority was to distance himself from danger.
Once his Meridian was restored, Xunuo stood up and said, "My injuries have healed; I can now fulfill your request. However, I have no confidence in catching up with him."
The Black-Clad Youth looked at Xunuo and replied calmly, "I have my ways to ensure you can catch up with him. However, this information must not be disclosed to Six Ears; at least not its source."
Xunuo clasped his hands together and assured him, "I will never betray you."
The Black-Clad Youth nodded and pointed at a wall. The pale blue Crystal Wall shimmered, revealing an image of a passage.
Xunuo looked closely; it was indeed the location where their team of Cultivators had entered the Barrier Space. Xunuo cast a deep glance at the Black-Clad Youth before stepping toward the passage.
"You can't hide this from me," the voice of the Black-Clad Youth suddenly came from behind. "You must return within a year. If you break your promise, you can imagine the consequences."
Xunuo halted immediately, frowning as he turned around. "Did you tamper with the Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill?"
The Black-Clad Youth waved his hand dismissively. "What more tampering is needed? This Six Pulse Soul-Returning Pill was forged from Yin Sha Han Yan; how could it lack Yin Malevolence? If you can return within a year, I can naturally help you dispel the Killing Intent within your body. If not, you'll have to find a place filled with Yin Qi to survive on your own."
Xunuo stared at the Black-Clad Youth for several breaths before suddenly turning expressionless and stepping into the passage's image on the Crystal Wall.
In an instant, that familiar yet terrifying sensation of dizziness that made Xunuo feel nauseous washed over him.
Fortunately, at that moment, Xunuo's magical power had fully recovered. Although his mind was still not clear, he managed to activate his magical shield. Struggling to maintain his balance against the intense dizziness, he regained some clarity and summoned the Thunderproof Armored Shell.
Xunuo glanced around briefly, discerned the direction, and hurriedly dashed down one path of the passage.
Driven by a strong fear of the Black-Clad Youth, Xunuo dared not utter a single harsh word even after being ambushed. He still had to complete the task assigned by the Black-Clad Youth in this passage. This fear stemmed not only from Xunuo himself but also from Old Wen's warning.
Just moments ago, after the Black-Clad Youth transmitted a message into Xunuo's Sea of Consciousness, Xunuo had split off a strand of Divine Sense to enter his Sea of Consciousness. As expected, he discovered that Old Wen had been forced out of his Sea of Consciousness by the Black-Clad Youth.
However, upon seeing Old Wen's expression as if facing a great enemy, Xunuo realized that things were dire. He had never seen such an expression on Old Wen's face before.
Before Xunuo could ask anything, Old Wen said, "I can only guard your Sea of Consciousness for a moment; you must find a way to leave here. Do not delay too long."
Xunuo furrowed his brow and asked, "Is this person more powerful than Old Wen?"
Old Wen shook his head. "It's not that he is stronger; it's that I have fallen too far. In any case, leave as quickly as you can. He has made three attempts and has not breached this Sea of Consciousness yet. If he discovers my condition, we will both be trapped here."
Old Wen was a presence that everyone feared like a tiger or wolf, and Xunuo dared not linger in his vicinity.
However, Xunuo's current position was highly advantageous. It was not far from the two formations he had set up; as long as he could reach the control range of the formations first, he was confident he could trap that Blue-Eyed White-Haired Practitioner.
Moreover, this stretch of road had already been raided by two groups of Cultivators, leaving very few Yin Soul Beasts. Xunuo summoned the Six Heavenly Shadow Darts, launching them ahead as he sped away. Moments later, Xunuo arrived at the entrance of a space.
This was the last formation Xunuo had laid down. Once here, he was essentially safe. Now it was time to figure out how to eliminate the Blue-Eyed White-Haired Practitioner.
In this place, Xunuo could utilize the power of the formation to move freely between two spaces without having to desperately flee. Instead, he needed to scout for enemy movements and check on his teammates to see if any had survived so he could offer assistance.
After waiting for a moment, Xunuo detected Ku Zulan approaching unsteadily. Seeing this, Xunuo nearly dropped his jaw; this person, barely clinging to life, had somehow managed to escape first.
However, Ku Zulan's condition was dire; he must have fled from even deeper within, as a large group of Yin Soul Beasts followed closely behind him. Several flying Yin Soul Beasts were constantly casting spells at him. Ku Zulan had no magic left to defend himself and relied entirely on talismans for protection, appearing extremely precarious.
Xunuo quickly waved his Formation Flag, and Ku Zulan felt a blur before finding himself in front of Xunuo. Stunned for a moment, he realized that Xunuo had come to his rescue. Too weak to express his gratitude, Ku Zulan collapsed onto the ground and stuffed handfuls of pills into his mouth while clutching two spirit stones in his hands to recover his magic.
Xunuo glanced at him and understood that he was utterly exhausted.
After some time passed, Mei Sanli and Thunderstorm arrived together piloting a white-winged flying boat. Xunuo hurriedly moved them to safety.
When Mei Sanli saw Xunuo sitting calmly with Ku Zulan outside the formation, she knew they were safe. She jumped off the flying boat and stowed the artifact away.
Xunuo looked at both of them but found himself at a loss for words. Their conditions left him unsure whether to comfort them or say nothing at all.
Mei Sanli's complexion was still flushed; however, it was no longer the bright red from when she first took Heavenly Fragrance Jade Dew but rather a purplish red resembling liver. Xunuo could clearly sense her chaotic aura; she had evidently been pushing her limits throughout their escape, making it difficult for her to control her magic.
As for Thunderstorm, he had simply tumbled out of the flying boat. While Mei Sanli managed to maintain some semblance of composure, Thunderstorm was battered and bruised, particularly with a large hole in his abdomen through which his intestines were spilling out. Mei Sanli propped Thunderstorm against a stone wall and stuffed his insides back into his abdomen before applying a talisman. She then sat down to meditate, ignoring everything else.
Xunuo realized they were both on the brink of death and truly couldn’t afford to worry about anyone else. Given Mei Sanli and Thunderstorm's bond, she would never abandon him as long as there was even a slim chance of survival. After a while, Thunderstorm managed to gather himself and slowly began recovering with hand seals of his own.
Xunuo saw that his returning teammates were in a similar state, unable to ask for details. He had no choice but to remain extremely cautious, closely monitoring the movements behind them.
Before long, two chaotic waves of magical energy surged toward them. Xunuo quickly waved the Formation Flag, and Tuba Five tumbled out.
Clearly, Tuba Five was still unaware of the situation. He conjured two spells with both hands and unleashed them indiscriminately. Xunuo realized that if either spell hit anyone in their current state of depleted magic and serious injuries, it would surely result in death.
Xunuo raised his hand and summoned the Zhenjiang Seal to intercept the two spells. He shouted, "Tuba, don't panic."
Only then did Tuba Five stabilize himself and breathe a sigh of relief. He quickly added, "The guy from Yama Palace is chasing us. We need to escape fast."
He looked anxiously at Xunuo, knowing that this formation had been refined by him and that Xunuo must have some means to hold off their pursuer for a moment.
Xunuo nodded and said, "Now that we're here, we don't need to fear him. Are there any others behind you?"
Tuba Five shook his head. "I'm the last one."
Xunuo sighed and glanced up the passageway. The aura of the Yama Palace cultivator was getting closer, racing toward them like lightning.
With a flick of his wrist holding the Formation Flag, several of them vanished from their location and reappeared in a spacious area moments later. This was naturally another space arranged for a different formation. This formation was immensely powerful; Xunuo intended to use it to eliminate the Blue-Eyed White-Haired Practitioner.
Although Xunuo knew that the opponent was a formidable expert at the Rotation Period level, he felt confident about defeating him given the significant depletion of his magic and realm. The key factor was that Xunuo believed they had set up numerous obstacles along their path. Even if they ultimately couldn't kill the opponent, he was sure they could escape safely.
