As Xunuo regained consciousness, he reacted immediately. With a swift motion, he raised his hands, unleashing a flurry of Talismans. Instantly, the area around Xunuo transformed into a Fire Sea of thunderous energy. The Talismans he released, though merely Intermediate Talismans, were imbued with powerful lightning attributes that were particularly effective against Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities. Consequently, most of the Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities were forced to retreat.
While these Talismans drove back the Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities, they also posed a threat to Xunuo and the nearby Cultivators. Anticipating this, Xunuo had already prepared himself; in addition to his Thunderproof Armored Shell, he activated a high-level Water Attribute defensive Talisman for extra safety.
The Cultivators who understood Xunuo's intentions were also well-prepared for defense. However, those who failed to grasp his plan suffered greatly; engulfed by Thunderfire, they hastily summoned their defensive measures but found themselves severely burned, their skin charred.
No one blamed Xunuo for this situation; under such circumstances, forcing back the Yin Spirits was a necessary choice. Moreover, Zhu Xiu quickly engaged in fierce combat, leaving little room for contemplation. Two Cultivators who were torn apart by a Yin Soul Beast were among those who suffered the most; they had not comprehended Xunuo's intentions in time and fell victim upon contact with the beasts.
Once the immediate threat from the Yin Soul Beasts was cleared, Mei Sanli turned to Thunderstorm and said, "Hold off the Yin Soul Beasts ahead; I will take down that large one." After glancing at the other Zhu Xiu members, he shouted and summoned his Golden Spear.
Fangya surveyed the remaining eight survivors. Among them, only Mei Sanli, Thunderstorm, Tuba Five, Fangya, and Sikong Yangming still possessed combat capabilities. The other three, including Xunuo, could only defend themselves and were not reliable for support.
Mei Sanli faced a Foundation Establishment Stage Yin Soul Beast blocking their path back. He and Tuba Five along with Sikong Yangming needed to hold off two more Foundation Establishment Stage Yin Soul Beasts behind them—this was a life-or-death situation for him. However, compared to Mei Sanli's need to eliminate his opponent, it was relatively easier for the three of them as long as they could prevent the Yin Soul Beasts from charging forward. But this depended on whether Mei Sanli had enough power to deal with his foe; Fangya silently lamented while Tuba Five had already unleashed a Fire Chain towards a Six-Legged Monster.
This Six-Legged Monster appeared to be the strongest among the two Foundation Establishment Stage Yin Soul Beasts. It posed an even greater threat than the one Mei Sanli faced. Seeing Tuba Five take on the primary interception task made Fangya feel a mix of emotions as he summoned a Fire Attribute Flying Sword to strike at another Humanoid Shadow Beast.
The remaining lower-tier Yin Soul Beasts were left for Sikong Yangming to handle alone. This increased Sikong Yangming's pressure compared to Tuba Five and Fangya. Fortunately, all three wielded Fire Attribute artifacts that were quite effective against the Yin Soul Beasts. Particularly, Sikong Yangming's Fire-red Gourd emitted Thunderfire energy that helped him withstand some of the pressure.
Xunuo was too preoccupied to pay attention to Fangya and Ku Zulan from Fangya's team; both looked worse off than him. Already gravely injured, they had been scorched by Xunuo's Thunderfire Talismans and now emitted a smell akin to roasted meat.
Xunuo was more concerned about Mei Sanli's performance amidst both sides' battles since he was crucial in opening up their escape route. However, Mei Sanli's subsequent actions made Xunuo feel uneasy about their prospects.
After summoning his Golden Spear, Mei Sanli quickly retrieved a jade vial and swallowed a drop of Heavenly Fragrance Jade Dew. Upon seeing this, Xunuo realized that Mei Sanli was desperate; it seemed he was increasingly wary of their current crisis and eager to break free from it.
After swallowing a drop of Heavenly Fragrance Jade Dew, Mei Sanli's face flushed, and an astonishing change swept over his entire demeanor. With both hands forming seals, he shouted at the Golden Spear, "Transform!" In an instant, the Golden Spear morphed into a massive Spine Beast, charging towards a striped giant tiger-like Yin Soul Beast in front of.
The Striped Giant Tiger seemed to be extremely wary of the Spine Beast, quickly conjuring a blue defensive barrier in front of itself. It then opened its mouth wide, unleashing countless inky droplets that floated down onto the Spiked Behemoth. Instantly, black smoke erupted from the Spiked Behemoth as its surface was corroded with numerous holes.
However, the Spiked Behemoth remained unfazed, showing no signs of pain or distress. With a shake of its body, its wounds healed completely. Then, the Spiked Behemoth thrust its massive claws forward, tearing open a gap in the Blue Barrier.
As the Spiked Behemoth leaned in to pass through this defensive barrier, the Striped Giant Tiger seemed to anticipate this move, realizing that its barrier would not hold against the Spine Beast. Just as the Spine Beast's head approached, the Blue Barrier suddenly rolled over and enveloped it. It turned out that this Blue Barrier was actually an offensive technique.
Once wrapped around the Spine Beast, the Blue Barrier truly displayed its power. It constricted like a strong tendon, not only binding the Spine Beast tightly but also continuously shrinking, causing its body to emit cracking sounds.
Witnessing this scene, Mei Sanli showed no fear; instead, a fierce grin appeared on his increasingly flushed face. Suddenly, he thrust his arms forward and clenched his fists. Above the Striped Giant Tiger's head, a white arc of electricity coiled around a Unicorn Beast materialized.
Ku Zulan was also watching the battle unfold with keen interest. As soon as the Unicorn Beast appeared, he couldn't help but exclaim, "Thunder Beast!"
Xunuo had heard of this legendary creature and was equally astonished. However, they quickly dismissed such thoughts; first of all, it was impossible for Mei Sanli to possess such a divine beast. Moreover, if Mei Sanli had such a spirit beast, there would be no need for him to struggle so hard against a Yin Soul Beast at the Foundation Establishment Stage. This must be an illusion conjured by Mei Sanli's spell.
Nevertheless, the Unicorn Beast was indeed ferocious; upon appearing, it unleashed a Thunder Ball that struck the Striped Giant Tiger. This Thunder Ball was vastly different from what Xunuo had seen before. Instead of exploding outside the Striped Giant Tiger's body, it penetrated its surface and entered its interior. The Striped Giant Tiger froze momentarily as black smoke began to billow from its seven orifices.
In that brief moment, the Unicorn Beast dove down from above. The white arc of electricity coiling around it merged into one as it plunged into the Striped Giant Tiger's body. The next instant, thunderous rumblings echoed from within the Striped Giant Tiger. Its eyes bulged red and protruded as it covered its seven orifices with its massive claws, seemingly on the verge of losing its life and soul if it let go.
At that moment, the Blue Barrier that had tightly bound the Spine Beast clearly lost its magical support and dimmed instantly. The Spine Beast pushed against its arms and shattered the Blue Barrier into pieces. Then it made a strange move: stepping back two paces and lowering itself onto all fours while arching its back high as if preparing for a powerful charge.
Suddenly, with a loud thud, countless bone spikes shot out from the Spine Beast like arrows aimed at the Striped Giant Tiger. At that moment, however, the Striped Giant Tiger was unable to move at all; it had to suppress the raging thunder within its body.
The Thunder Beast that had entered the fray displayed a bizarre and destructive power. It not only wreaked havoc on the body of the Striped Giant Tiger but also shattered its soul into fragments. At this point, if the Striped Giant Tiger were to open even a single orifice, it would surely result in its soul being torn apart. However, the power of this lightning was as fierce as it was fleeting. If it could just hold on for a couple of breaths, it would have a way to turn the tide.
Yet, as countless bone spikes flew toward it, the Striped Giant Tiger could only widen its enormous copper bell-like eyes in shock, with no means to defend itself. In the next moment, several bone spikes pierced through the Striped Giant Tiger, producing a sound akin to bursting bubbles. A cloud of black smoke erupted from its body before it crashed to the ground.
Mei Sanli swiftly killed the Yin Soul Beast that had blocked their escape route, bringing relief to the Cultivators who were struggling to hold their ground. After slaying the Yin Soul Beast, Mei Sanli did not immediately retreat but instead consumed the remaining drop of Heavenly Fragrance Jade Dew before transforming into a Spine Beast.
The Spine Beast instantly reverted to its original form as a Golden Spear, spinning rapidly like a windmill as it charged into the swarm of Yin Soul Beasts blocking their path.
In fact, at the moment Mei Sanli killed the Striped Giant Tiger and the Yin Soul Beast, Thunderstorm's Purple Flame Heartfire had already pushed back some of the Yin Soul Beasts from in front of by a distance. However, despite its formidable power, Purple Flame Heartfire could not instantly annihilate these lower-tier Yin Soul Beasts; it merely prevented them from approaching.
Mei Sanli's Golden Spear did more than just drive them away; it plunged into the group of Yin Soul Beasts like a tiger among sheep, instantly shredding those gathered near the Purple Flame Heartfire into pieces. Afterwards, Mei Sanli injected a high-level Flying Talisman into his body and surged forward.
Seeing this action from Mei Sanli made Xunuo increasingly uneasy: he had just swallowed a drop of Heavenly Fragrance Jade Dew; that was a desperate move. Swallowing another drop so soon was tantamount to courting death.
Upon seeing this, Fangya and the others immediately abandoned their opponents and followed closely behind Mei Sanli in retreat. Naturally, Xunuo would not lag behind at such a critical moment; he fled outward from the middle of their formation. The group of Cultivators quickly organized themselves: Mei Sanli, Thunderstorm, Tuba Five, and Fangya led the way while Sikong Yangming brought up the rear. They all activated high-level Flying Talismans to escape at breakneck speed. In no time at all, they flew into another space.
They encountered no high-level Yin Soul Beasts along the way but were immediately besieged by three upon entering this new space. In the narrow passageway, Zhu Xiu had no room to evade and could only brace himself against these high-level Yin Soul Beasts with all his might. In this space, with room to maneuver, Mei Sanli and his companions would not engage in reckless battles.
The four in front struck simultaneously, sending one high-level Yin Soul Beast flying after clearing their path. The group of Cultivators quickly shook off two other high-level Yin Soul Beasts and darted into the passageway. As long as these high-level Yin Soul Beasts lacked teleportation skills or innate flying abilities, they could never outrun high-level Flying Talismans. Naturally, Mei Sanli and his companions were wise enough not to entangle themselves with such high-level foes. In an instant, they left their pursuers far behind.
