The five Cultivators exchanged glances, just about to discuss their plans.
Suddenly, the shadowy creature let out a chilling scream, its black horn pointing towards a specific direction in the passage. Countless black circular blades surged forth, slicing into the endless darkness of the tunnel.
Seeing this, the five Cultivators were instantly filled with dread, cold sweat pouring down their backs. They thought to themselves: in its home ground, it can unleash such spells endlessly. While the power may not increase, the sheer number could drown them.
However, they underestimated the situation. For the shadowy creature, casting such a large-scale spell was a desperate gamble.
Once it unleashed this magical force, it would be left waiting for death, likely without even the strength to escape.
The five Cultivators were unaware of this.
A flash of purple light streaked through the dark passage like a bolt of lightning, cutting through thousands of circular blades and cleaving through the massive body of the shadowy creature.
In the next moment, this purple lightning vanished with a Yin Soul Stone in tow.
All that remained were the five Cultivators staring at each other in disbelief, as if they were dreaming about everything that had just happened in front of.
In another part of the web-like maze of passages, three Cultivators moved cautiously, their steps careful. The narrow paths resembling spider webs rarely exceeded ten feet in width.
For those entering unknown areas of the Three Star Underground City to hunt for Yin Soul Stones, navigating such cramped passages was even more perilous.
Most Cultivators excelled in long-range spell attacks. Unless they practiced special cultivation methods or were specifically trained in physical combat, they would never engage in close combat with Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities. Being possessed by a shadowy soul would lead to instant demise without exception.
However, this area was bustling with Cultivators hunting Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities. In some main passages, it had become difficult to find any shadows at all, forcing many Cultivators to venture into side paths in search of them.
These three Cultivators were part of such a small team. All three were at the eighth layer of Foundation Stage and appeared to have relatively weak Divine Senses.
As they advanced, they occasionally released a Rocket Technique to clear away some of the endless Yin Qi ahead so that their Divine Senses could probe further.
Suddenly, a dazzling flash of Purple Light flickered in front of them. Although the three did not know what had come, they were all startled, their hearts racing.
Before they could react, the Purple Light shot through, and the next moment, they heard a piercing scream behind them.
Turning around, they saw an eight-foot-long Purple Light blade cleaving a creature that resembled a wolf or fox, known as the Winged Shade, in half at the waist.
This Winged Shade was nearly thirty feet long. The cut was not clean; instead, it was jagged, as if more than two feet of its body had been sliced away and vanished into thin air. The Winged Shade let out another agonizing howl, its two halves leaning toward each other as if trying to reconnect.
However, the Purple Light blade flipped and struck down again. The Winged Shade extended its two front claws, glimmering with dark light, and lunged at the Purple Light blade.
The three cultivators quickly retreated, fearing the impending shockwave from such a devastating blow.
But nothing happened. The anticipated cataclysmic strike turned out to be just a soft "thud," as the Winged Shade was vertically cleaved in two.
The Purple Light blade did not stop there; after a series of agile slashing and piercing moves, it completely dissipated the Winged Shade without leaving even a remnant behind.
The three cultivators understood that this was a magical artifact—one that was exceptionally sharp. Their eyes gleamed with fire, and they felt an irresistible urge.
Exchanging glances filled with fierce intent, they began to encircle the Purple Light blade.
Suddenly, the Purple Light blade stood upright and erupted with a thousand-fold brilliance.
In the pitch-black underground, this burst of light seemed capable of penetrating everything. The three cultivators screamed in unison as their eyes were flooded with blood; they were blinded in an instant.
Xunuo and Thunderstorm walked leisurely while scenes of tragedy and comedy unfolded around them. Occasionally, a Heavenly Shadow Spike would return with a Yin Soul Stone, making Thunderstorm envious.
As Xunuo descended further, he cleared out all the Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities surrounding this main passageway, leaving nearby cultivators who were hunting for Yin Soul Stones puzzled.
Though Xunuo and Thunderstorm strolled casually, they traversed this passageway in just half a day and arrived at a spacious area below.
The disparity between this space and the one above was striking. One side of this space was covered by a Fire Attribute Defense Array, occupying about twenty percent of the area.
However, this Fire Attribute array emitted a brilliant red light that illuminated not only the interior of the array as bright as day but also pierced through the thousands of feet of space outside it.
With this Fire Attribute array in place, ordinary Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities dared not approach, making this area relatively quiet during normal times.
Xunuo had collected five Yin Soul Stones on his way down, and the Six Heavenly Shadow Darts had been nurtured along the journey, greatly enhancing their power and showcasing the might of a Supreme Magical Artifact.
Upon entering this space, Xunuo naturally stowed away the Heavenly Shadow Spike.
Soon after, Xunuo noticed something interesting: in a location far from the Fire Attribute Defense Array, there were several solitary small arrays.
These small arrays seemed to possess the primary ability to resist the invasion of Yin Qi.
Using his Divine Sense, Xunuo discovered that their materials were very similar to those of the Mysterious Yin Pot. However, when he probed with his Divine Sense, the array became unstable.
Now considered an expert on this journey, Xunuo quickly deduced that this array had only minimal defensive capabilities; its main function was to serve as an early warning system.
Indeed, after Xunuo's Divine Sense impacted the array, it suddenly flashed with green light, revealing several red characters: "I am a Human Clan Cultivator, not a Yin Spirit or Ghostly Entity."
Xunuo chuckled at this revelation.
It turned out that these were several Yin Spirit Root or Special Technique Practitioners who had descended into unknown areas of the Underground City. Their secondary goal was to hunt for Yin Soul Stones; their primary purpose was to utilize the pure Yin Spirit Power here for cultivation and advancement.
This kind of spiritual energy posed no threat to Xunuo and other Five Element Spiritual Root Cultivators. However, the mixed Yin Qi was like poison to them.
For Yin Spirit Root Cultivators or those practicing special cultivation methods involving Yin bodies, this place was a prime source of Spiritual Veins.
Yet cultivating here was fraught with danger. Not only did one have to guard against attacks from Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities, but they also needed to be cautious not to be mistakenly harmed by Human Clan Cultivators, as their Yin Qi was not much different from that of Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities.
In this space, cultivating was indeed the best choice.
With the Yin Tide approaching, they could take refuge in the human race's Defensive Array. Here, the Yin Qi was abundant, and the spiritual energy was rich and bright, ensuring they wouldn't be mistakenly harmed by humans.
Thunderstorm glanced at the dozens of massive passages slanting downward across from them and cast an inquiring look at Xunuo.
Xunuo nodded slightly and said to Thunderstorm, "You decide, my friend."
Thunderstorm smiled and took out a Tracking Talisman.
This step had been planned by Xunuo and the others before their departure. They would activate the first Tracking Talisman in this space to preliminarily determine the location of the traitor from the Limitless Merchant Alliance. Then, they would leave information about their next course of action for their companions who would follow up, indicating the direction for their next move.
As Thunderstorm clasped the Tracking Talisman in both hands, it emitted a yellow glow, with a black dot clearly visible on the Yellow Light.
However, when Xunuo and Thunderstorm saw the position of this black dot, their expressions changed dramatically, and they couldn't help but gasp in shock.
The black dot represented the magical coordinate of the traitor from the Limitless Merchant Alliance. But this location had already delved deep into the Underground City.
Currently, he was continuing downward in this space, having passed through three such vast areas. Moreover, he was still moving deeper.
In fact, the position of this Limitless Merchant Alliance traitor was close to the limit where ordinary Cultivators hunted Yin Souls deep within the Underground City. In these areas, Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities gathered in droves; they were so numerous that one could easily run into them.
Previously, Liu Canghai had descended to hunt for Yin Soul Stones and had reached this depth. Often, just one trip to this depth would yield enough to cover a year's rent for a Cave.
However, those who ventured to this depth were not only great Cultivators from Eleven Layers but also needed to form a team of more than ten people; otherwise, they risked losing their lives in the Underground City.
That traitor from the Limitless Merchant Alliance had definitely entered Three Star Underground City alone; Thunderstorm was well aware of this after following him all the way to Three Star City.
Now what puzzled Xunuo and Thunderstorm was how he could possibly have entered that depth alone.
Combining Liu Canghai's introduction to the Underground City, Xunuo reflected that entering that depth alongside Thunderstorm was fraught with danger.
This trading location was chosen by a traitor from the Limitless Merchant Alliance. He could not possibly be unaware of the dangers involved, and the fact that he was still venturing deeper indicated that the trading spot he had selected lay even further within.
Xunuo even doubted whether this person had lost his mind. If not, he must possess the ability to safely navigate the unknown areas of the Underground City and return unscathed.
As Xunuo thought about this, he couldn't help but express his frustration, muttering to himself that those who dared to take risks indeed had some extraordinary means.
Moments later, the light from the Tracking Talisman dimmed and then dissipated with a soft "poof."
Thunderstorm cast a grim look at Xunuo, clearly harboring some suspicions about the situation as well.
However, the Foundation Pill held immense allure for loose cultivators like them, enough to gamble their lives for it.
This was no exception for Xunuo. As long as there was a glimmer of possibility, a thread of vitality, Xunuo would exert every effort.
Thus, without any hesitation, Xunuo nodded slightly to Thunderstorm, directing his ring towards the red Defensive Array while murmuring incantations.
In the next moment, the red Defensive Array rippled, revealing a green barrier with a diameter of ten feet. Xunuo and Thunderstorm stepped into the barrier, and after a brief moment of disorientation, they found themselves inside the Defensive Array.
Within the space of several hundred feet in the magic formation, there was no Yin Qi; pure spiritual energy surged toward them as if they were immersed in a liquid essence of spiritual power.
