Zhang Junwu could only watch nervously as Xunuo worked. In fact, with Xunuo's current Mind Power, even without the assistance of the array to condense Divine Sense, purifying these materials would be more than sufficient.
Moreover, Xunuo indeed wanted to practice with this batch of materials. Naturally, he took the initiative to build Zhang Junwu's confidence. Otherwise, Zhang Junwu wouldn't have been entrusted with the most critical tasks during the refining process.
Zhang Junwu observed nearly a hundred materials suspended within the Cauldron, not still but moving along a complex trajectory, interweaving like bamboo shoots among plum blossoms. He was dumbfounded, cold sweat pouring down his back.
Zhang Junwu understood this approach. Simply put, it was meant to ensure even heating of the materials, and having him perform this step was standard practice. However, Xunuo was simultaneously controlling nearly a hundred materials, and the complexity of their movements seemed somewhat showy to Zhang Junwu.
Watching various materials soar within the Cauldron, stirring up boiling currents of heat, Zhang Junwu felt his heart tighten. Moments later, Xunuo intensified the furnace's fire; the Cauldron glowed red-hot, and the materials inside began to move even faster, leaving Zhang Junwu feeling overwhelmed.
Suddenly, during this process, the entire Cauldron seemed to tremble violently, and countless materials were instantly shattered into fragments. Zhang Junwu felt his heart lurch as if it had stopped beating. His mind went blank; he felt utterly exhausted and withdrew his Divine Sense from the Cauldron.
It was too intense.
Zhang Junwu realized he had surpassed his psychological limits; continuing to watch would lead him to a breakdown.
Looking back at Xunuo, he found him still calm and composed, showing no signs of surprise or joy. Then Zhang Junwu noticed that the Cauldron vibrated three more times in quick succession. Gritting his teeth, he pushed his Divine Sense back in for another look; the materials inside had turned to powder.
However, these powdered materials remained divided into dozens or hundreds of portions and did not mix chaotically into one mass. They continued to operate along a complex trajectory but at a much slower speed now. Additionally, each cluster of powdered material was spinning rapidly on its own within this larger cycle.
At this point, Zhang Junwu was utterly astonished. He knew how to perform this technique as well but lacked sufficient Divine Sense to execute it properly.
Zhang Junwu was in awe of Xunuo's Mind Power, gaining confidence in Xunuo's ability to successfully purify these materials.
Xunuo was currently handling the purification of these materials with ease. Instead, he began to plan for the next steps. To successfully forge the Heaven and Earth Four Killing Formation in one go, it was essential to evenly distribute the Mind Power. He couldn't afford to run short on Mind Power in the later stages, nor could he allow the Divine Sense to be depleted by the completion of the formation.
Thus, Xunuo began to incorporate his magical energy into the process, allowing the Divine Sense to select and purify the materials while his magical energy circulated through them.
Moments later, the lid of the Cauldron flew off with a bang, and a mass of impurities was expelled with a swift motion before the lid fell back into place. After several cycles of this process, all impurities were thoroughly removed from the materials. Xunuo clapped his hands on the furnace and cranked up the Earth Fire to its maximum, starting to fuse the materials together.
At that moment, Zhang Junwu realized that Xunuo had already integrated his magical energy into both the purification and fusion processes. However, he had not noticed when Xunuo had introduced this energy, indicating that Xunuo's control over the interchange between magical energy and Divine Sense had reached a level so refined that it went unnoticed by him.
While Divine Sense could be inherently powerful, mastering the interchange between Divine Sense and magical energy was undoubtedly a result of extensive practice. Only then did Zhang Junwu truly feel at ease. He even began to regret whether he should have undertaken these initial steps himself and left Xunuo to handle the latter tasks.
In just half a day's time, Xunuo completed both the purification and fusion of the initial materials.
When Xunuo evenly divided the fully fused materials into sixteen portions and began to shape them into preliminary Formation Flags, Zhang Junwu felt a jolt of excitement and prepared to take over for the next step: engraving the Runes.
However, as Zhang Junwu opened his arms in preparation, he noticed that Xunuo showed no intention of stopping; instead, he began focusing on Rune engraving for the final refinement.
This last step was particularly tedious and intricate, leaving no room for error. While there was some possibility for collaboration in the earlier stages, at this point, such cooperation was impossible. It would be more practical for one person to forge each Formation Flag individually.
Seeing that Xunuo had already begun engraving Runes, Zhang Junwu understood that the success or failure of this endeavor was now beyond his control. He decided to step back and concentrate intently on what was happening.
Although Zhang Junwu felt a surge of anxiety in his heart, it was no longer the hopelessness he had felt at first. His greatest concern now was whether Xunuo's Divine Sense would falter—not whether he lacked sufficient means.
Xunuo was not feeling nervous at all; it was as if he had returned to the recent days spent crazily crafting formations in the Geothermal Chamber.
Taking on tasks in the Geothermal Chamber and crafting formations was a purposeful and gradual process. The runes he selected for the formations were all aimed at progressing towards the Heaven and Earth Four Killing Formation.
Thus, when Xunuo took on the task of crafting this Heaven and Earth Four Killing Formation today, he faced no significant difficulties. However, the runes for this formation were extremely complex, requiring Xunuo to be more patient and meticulous.
As Xunuo continuously engraved the runes, they melted into the Formation Flags under the endless high temperatures within the Cauldron. The sixteen Formation Flags gradually increased in power, their black surfaces slowly emanating a faint golden glow.
This step consumed much more time than the previous two steps. Yet, Xunuo handled the process of Mind Power and mana conversion with ease, maintaining a state of fullness in his Divine Sense.
Five days later, Xunuo struck the Cauldron, and the sixteen Formation Flags shot out, landing in their designated positions within the Geothermal Chamber. Grabbing the Main Array Flag, Xunuo shook it, causing a resonant hum as the surroundings transformed into a Fire Sea, with various spells raining down.
Zhang Junwu was terrified to the point of losing his wits, but Xunuo calmly retracted the formation and handed over the sixteen Formation Flags to Zhang Junwu. "I hope I have not failed my mission. Brother Dao Zhang, are you satisfied?"
Zhang Junwu had no words left to say; he was already convinced by Xunuo's methods and repeatedly expressed his gratitude while accepting the Formation Flags. After exchanging pleasantries for a while, they parted ways.
Seeing that there was still no news from Liu Canghai, Xunuo headed to the Magic Circle Masters Guild. There, he received several formation tasks from the Manager of the Geothermal Chamber and began crafting formations again. These formations were relatively complex; although their power did not match that of the Heaven and Earth Four Killing Formation, they were all composite formations that required high-level crafting techniques.
Xunuo was currently focused on accumulating experience for crafting an improved version of the Heaven and Earth Four Killing Formation.
