Two disciples from the Crimson Flower Sect, who had gone out for training, were granted two magical artifacts by their elders upon descending the mountain. The descendant of the Grand Elder received a Defensive Artifact, the Purple Python Black Iron Armor. The other disciple was bestowed with an exquisite Attacking Artifact, the Leaving Water Sword.
Dressed in the Crimson Flower Sect's attire and armed with these two artifacts for protection, they should have been able to escape at the first sign of danger, with no one daring to challenge them. However, they unexpectedly met their demise. Now that the Leaving Water Sword has surfaced, it is only a matter of time before the True Culprit is identified.
Yesterday, several disciples from the Crimson Flower Sect were sent to investigate but faced fierce resistance. After a fierce battle, both sides suffered casualties. The Crimson Flower Sect lost three disciples but managed to kill four of their opponents and capture one. However, a Female Cultivator wielding the Leaving Water Sword managed to escape.
Today, the Crimson Flower Sect dispatched numerous disciples to hunt down that Female Cultivator. Through a Soul Search on the captured Cultivator, they learned that the Leaving Water Sword originated from an Alchemist named Xunuo. Currently, Zhu Xiu of the Crimson Flower Sect has sealed off their other residences and palaces, conducting thorough checks to see if that Alchemist named Xunuo has infiltrated.
Upon hearing this, Xunuo felt his heart leap into his throat. Fortunately, a disciple from the Tang family of the Crimson Flower Sect added, "Our Cultivation Family's residence is naturally outside the search area. However, you should not venture out carelessly. The elders are furious; if you happen to cross paths with them, they might kill you on a whim."
Zhu Xiu of the Tang family quickly nodded in agreement, and Xunuo secretly felt relieved. He feigned calmness and said, "It’s good to rest for another day; I can take this opportunity to contemplate some defensive Spells."
After exchanging a few more words, the disciple from the Crimson Flower Sect took his leave. The others returned to their rooms to rest. Xunuo immediately decided to abandon this Arena Tournament.
Not only was victory unlikely, but even if he did win and entered through the Red Flower Path Mountain Gate, he would live in constant fear and risk being discovered at any moment. Once the Crimson Flower Sect learned of Xunuo's identity as an Alchemist, they could easily connect him to the Insect Path's bounty. The Insect Path even had a portrait of Xunuo.
Now, Xunuo needed to keep a low profile and appear utterly unremarkable. He planned to lose quietly in the next round and leave the Crimson Flower Sect unnoticed.
However, when he arrived at the Arena, Xunuo realized that losing quietly was an extravagant wish. The second round of matches would take place five days later. His opponent was a contestant at Eleven Layers Peak whose magical power was so formidable it made Xunuo tremble with fear. As soon as he stepped onto the Arena, his opponent unleashed a Magic Shield that sent forth a barrage of wind blades mixed with over ten golden Thunder Balls aimed directly at him.
Xunuo activated his Vanteng Shield to its maximum capacity but was still pushed back by the wind blades. When the first Thunder Ball struck his Vanteng Shield, it shattered instantly. Fortunately, the Vanteng Shield had remarkable regenerative abilities; as it broke apart, new layers began forming anew. However, before he could recover from this blow, a second Thunder Ball struck and dispersed his Spell entirely. The Magic Shield crumbled under a single hit. Anticipating this outcome, Xunuo attempted to retreat from the Arena but was still caught by residual force that left him battered and bloodied.
Xunuo swallowed a healing pill with lingering fear and descended the mountain. The identification of the culprit had already concluded, and there would be no further checks on the defeated participants leaving the Crimson Flower Sect. Once Xunuo safely reached the base of the mountain, he flew off in a specific direction.
Xunuo understood that the influence of the Crimson Flower Sect was far greater than that of the Insect Path. Therefore, he set a general escape route for himself without pinpointing an exact location. If he had to specify, it would be... towards the horizon.
During this process, at least initially, Xunuo could not use the Against the Wind Boat. This artifact was too conspicuous and would undoubtedly attract the attention of the Crimson Flower Sect. If the Insect Path learned about it, Xunuo's identity would be directly exposed. Thus, he needed to supplement his supply of Flying Talismans along the way.
Xunuo even considered relying solely on Flying Talismans for his escape. Although this would slow him down, it would neither draw attention nor reveal his magical energy. It could be said that this was the safest way to flee.
After flying non-stop for over a month, Xunuo finally felt fatigued and stopped at a market to rest and replenish his Flying Talismans. Xunuo actually had another plan, which was to purchase a Flying Artifact in this Market. Over the past month of flight, he had consumed over a hundred Intermediate Flight Talismans. In terms of spirit stones, that amounted to a significant sum, nearly depleting more than half of the Flying Talismans in Xunuo's storage bag.
If he were to acquire a low-grade Flying Artifact, the initial investment would be higher. However, once in flight, using spirit stones combined with mana for propulsion would be much more economical.
Of course, the main reason was that this journey away from the territory of the Crimson Flower Sect was going to be long. Along the way, Xunuo could not reveal his identity as an Alchemist, which meant he wouldn't be able to replenish his spirit stones.
