The Half-Yin Body Cultivator unexpectedly glanced at Xunuo and murmured, "A strong ant, then I shall exert some effort to crush you."
With that, he raised his hand, and a dark, massive claw suddenly materialized in front of Xunuo, ready to grasp him and turn him into dust.
At that moment, Xunuo had lost all means of defense and offense. He reached out toward the Boundary Stone, which was his only chance for survival.
But in an instant, despair filled Xunuo's heart. He realized that his body was no longer under his control. His magical power was also restrained, and even his Divine Sense felt like it was being drained away.
Just as the black claw of the Half-Yin Body Cultivator descended, the Cultivator suddenly changed expression and retreated hastily, rushing toward the Barrier Screen as if he had seen a ghost.
In that fleeting moment, Xunuo's body split cleanly in two and fell to either side. A pitch-black, handleless curved blade hung ominously above the center of his severed body. The restraints on Xunuo's magical power and Divine Sense vanished in an instant.
"Killing Blade!" Xunuo exclaimed in shock. A sense of helplessness washed over him, bringing tears to his eyes.
He staggered forward and gently caressed the Killing Blade, saying incoherently, "Killer Blade, today you saved my life; otherwise, I would have met a terrible fate."
The Killing Blade trembled slightly before vanishing abruptly. Xunuo was taken aback and hurriedly jumped into the Sea of Consciousness. There he saw the Killing Blade still at the center of the Sea of Consciousness, revolving around a faint glow as if it were oblivious to Xunuo's arrival.
Over the years, Xunuo had allowed the Killing Blade to occupy his Sea of Consciousness without interference. He had no way to expel it nor any method to control it. He couldn't even classify what it was; at least it wasn't a magical artifact since placing one inside his body would require creating an opening.
Moreover, Xunuo sensed that the Killing Blade seemed to possess some form of intelligence. Ever since he had said things that displeased it, it had distanced itself from him compared to how close they had been initially.
Today, saved by the Killing Blade, Xunuo began to regard it with newfound respect. He thought that having it reside in his Sea of Consciousness might not be a bad thing after all. At least, up to this point, nothing harmful had occurred.
Xunuo had long observed that the Killing Blade was very attached to the little glimmer in his Sea of Consciousness. After some contemplation, he said to the Sea of Consciousness, "Killing Blade, once I recover, I will focus on cultivating my Divine Sense and expand the Sea of Consciousness to make this glimmer even more brilliant, so you can feel more comfortable here."
The Killing Blade seemed to understand, circling around Xunuo playfully before returning to the center of the Sea of Consciousness, slowly rotating around that little glimmer. When Xunuo continued to chatter away at the Killing Blade, it showed no further reaction and ignored him. Seeing this, Xunuo could only sigh and exit the Sea of Consciousness.
At this moment, the stone chamber was devoid of life, littered only with remnants of corpses and flesh. Xunuo, still shaken, set fire to the scattered corpses, turning them to ashes. Currently, Xunuo possessed no Defensive Artifact at all. His strongest means of defense was the Vine Binding Shield. This Spell could hold its own against Foundation Stage Practitioners but would struggle against old monsters above the Foundation Establishment Stage.
