After slaying the Black Corpse, the ten individuals gathered to discuss their next steps. They all believed that the Reanimation was surely guarding the Ancient Cultivation Cave. Everyone was quite satisfied with this conclusion, as breaking the Restriction would be far more challenging than eliminating the Reanimation.
Going alone would be too dangerous, so they decided to have the Thunder Mage lead the way. With more effort, he could select items from the Ancient Cultivation Cave first, which Master Wu Fa found quite agreeable. He called Xunuo to walk at the forefront alongside him, while Huang Lunxiong and another Tenth Layer Cultivator followed closely behind. Ruan Jingtian trailed behind the four with a sullen expression.
Xunuo was displeased to be dragged out by Master Wu Fa to face danger, but given the current situation, if Ruan Jingtian did not take action, it would seem that both Xunuo and Comprehend the Array were exceptionally skilled in Thunder Law. Even if Xunuo wanted to push back, he had no excuse.
The passage was not straight; it twisted and turned frequently. After a short while, Xunuo completely lost his sense of direction. Fortunately, there were no forks in the path, so he could only continue moving forward.
After walking for a while, Xunuo and Master Wu Fa almost simultaneously came to a halt. Two Thunder Balls, one blue and one gold, shot out with crackling electricity. Immediately after, a roar echoed ahead as a shadow enveloped in black smoke charged toward them.
Huang Lunxiong and another Tenth Layer Cultivator quickly caught up. Four bolts of Thunder Law intertwined with each other and struck the shadow with varying brilliance. The Reanimation trembled violently under the assault, releasing a foul-smelling cloud of smoke. The four exchanged cold smiles, preparing to deliver a final blow to ensure its destruction.
Suddenly, there was a flash before their eyes as a figure in yellow robes appeared in front of them. With both hands pushed forward, a black Thunder Ball wrapped in white arcs of electricity shot into the darkness ahead. A tremendous explosion followed as a Black Corpse stumbled out from the smoke.
This Reanimation had lifeless eyes devoid of luster. Most horrifying was the gaping hole in its chest, large enough to fit a cooking pot, which pierced through its body. White arcs of electricity flickered around the hole. The Reanimation took two steps forward before collapsing suddenly and falling silent.
The four in front surprisingly failed to notice that another Reanimation lay hidden deeper within, preparing for an ambush. The yellow figure vanished in an instant. Master Wu Fa turned around, dumbfounded as he stared at Ruan Jingtian, whose long hair and yellow robes made him resemble a Specter. He completely forgot that there was still an unvanquished Reanimation before them.
Though surprised, Xunuo had somewhat anticipated this turn of events. He quickly shouted and unleashed a Thunder Ball to eliminate the Black Corpse before him.
Ruan Jingtian's extraordinary Divine Sense, mysterious movement technique, and lethal Thunder Law immediately drew fearful glances from everyone around him. With a chilling laugh, Ruan Jingtian coldly commanded, "Advance."
Master Wu Fa shuddered and turned to walk forward, feeling no inclination to resist. Xunuo thought to himself: The leader of the Chaotic Valley's Three Forces is indeed not someone easy to deal with.
On the way down, they encountered several Black Corpses, which they managed to eliminate one by one through their combined efforts. Eventually, they reached the end of the passage.
Before them stood two massive bronze doors. Master Wu Fa attempted to push them open, and with a creak, the doors swung inward. A denser Yin Qi surged out from within, and the Chill of Darkness was even stronger than that in the passage. The cultivators hurriedly channeled their powers to resist the invading Yin Qi. Xunuo peered into the bronze doors; it was dark and he could not see far, and his Divine Sense was severely restricted. However, he could make out that it was a vast stone chamber.
The cultivators unanimously turned their gaze toward Ruan Jingtian, clearly regarding him as their leader. Yet Ruan Jingtian remained silent and motionless.
After a moment of silence, Qiu Chengyu cleared his throat and said, “Let’s go in and take a look.”
A practitioner of Special Technique understood and swiftly entered the stone chamber. After half a tea's worth of time, this cultivator returned and reported, “It’s extremely spacious inside, and the aura is exceptionally terrifying; there may be great danger.”
Qiu Chengyu was quite familiar with this cultivator. His cultivation method had a strong sensitivity to Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities, and his physique was semi-yin, allowing him to traverse through Yin Qi without hindrance. Therefore, his sensing should be quite accurate. This made Qiu Chengyu hesitate.
At that moment, Ruan Jingtian suddenly asked, “Is what you sensed a Yin Soul or Reanimation?”
The cultivator replied, “It’s more likely Reanimation.”
Ruan Jingtian pondered for a moment and said, “If it’s Reanimation, there is hope for victory. The Reanimations in the passage are merely Black Corpses; even though the Yin Qi in this stone chamber is deeper, it shouldn’t be enough to give rise to higher-level Reanimations. Moreover, even if Reanimations were to advance, they wouldn’t possess Intelligence. What we face is just a corpse with some magical power—what is there to fear?”
Master Wu Fa furrowed his brow and said, “Tu Gang Dao Brother, an advanced Black Corpse is equivalent to a Foundation Stage Cultivator among humans; it will be difficult for us to overcome.”
Ruan Jingtian chuckled heartily: “The great monk specializes in subduing demons and monsters; why are you hesitating? If you wish for an easy life, then don’t seek this path of longevity.”
With a swift motion of his sleeve, Ruan Jingtian stepped into the stone chamber first. Xunuo, Qiu Chengyu, and others followed him inside. The remaining few hesitated for a moment before stepping into the chamber as well. Ruan Jingtian then waved his sleeve to close the bronze door and instructed Qiu Chengyu to seal the exit with a formation.
Afterward, Ruan Jingtian formed hand seals, and a surging Fire Sea suddenly appeared, igniting the surrounding Yin Qi. Instantly, it was like boiling soup splashing onto snow, causing large areas of Yin Qi to dissipate with a loud hissing sound. The space before them became clear in an instant.
Seeing this, everyone immediately understood Ruan Jingtian's intention. By burning away the Yin Qi, he had cut off the source of power for the Yin Spirits and Ghostly Entities or Reanimation, preventing them from hiding in the shadows. The group quickly summoned their fire spells to combat the dense Yin Qi. In a moment, fierce flames swept away a space of a hundred feet and continued to burn towards the more distant Yin Qi.
Suddenly, the surrounding Yin Qi began to roll ominously. With an irresistible force, it pressed toward the Fire Sea, causing the Fire Sea Space to retreat step by step. It seemed that the Yin Qi was about to reclaim this clear space. The group hurriedly urged their fire spells to resist this overwhelming wave of Yin Qi.
Among the fire spells, Xunuo's Hellfire stood out among these cultivators. Xunuo pushed the Hellfire Spell to its limits, barely holding back this wave of Yin Qi.
But at that moment, a scream pierced through the air from a Thunder Mage at the tenth level. Xunuo turned to look and saw that the cultivator had been torn in half. Standing atop the corpse was a tall figure radiating purple light—a Reanimation. The aura of this Reanimation was beyond Xunuo's comprehension; it felt like standing on the edge of an abyss, even more unfathomable than that of Lin Jianfeng or Guo Huai. Moreover, the dangerous aura emanating from it came at him without any concealment.
Without hesitation, Xunuo patted his storage bag, and a sphere floated above his head. It then cascaded down like a waterfall, enveloping him entirely. Another Crimson Flying Sword crossed in front of him. This was not a time for hiding one's strength; Xunuo instantly revealed his most powerful means. As for not summoning the Heavenly Shadow Spike, in this environment, the Fire Attribute Flying Sword was more lethal.
