The Red-Robed Elder suddenly felt a rush of blood surge upwards, and chaotic energy swirled within him. After retreating, he did not hear the expected explosive sound of Dan Lei. A probe of his Divine Sense revealed that what was flying towards him were actually over a dozen Unity Pills.
In an instant of anger, the Red-Robed Elder opened his mouth and truly spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. When he furiously pursued again, it was already too late. He could only watch as Xunuo dove into the Demon-Human Isolation Array, disappearing from sight.
Xunuo rushed into the territory of the demon clan and quickly assessed the direction. With a flash of light, he sped off in one direction.
Entering the vast mountains where the demon clan resided was currently Xunuo's only viable option. Although the demon territory was fraught with dangers, it was still better than dying on the spot. However, Xunuo did not plan to hide within the demon territory.
Xunuo's plan was to swiftly escape through the passage of the Demon-Human Isolation Array. Using the power of the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman, he intended to stealthily exit the domain of the Insect Path in the vast mountains. The previous proximity to his pursuers made it impossible to evade their search even with the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman activated. However, quietly slipping out through the passage was indeed a feasible method.
After hastily fleeing for half a day, Xunuo finally discovered an entrance to the Demon-Human Isolation Array. He quickly stowed away the Against the Wind Boat and infused the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman into his body before gliding towards the passage.
This Passage Entrance was guarded by two Fourth-Level Beasts: a Rift Boar and a Purple Flame Python. The two beasts were positioned over thirty yards apart, each guarding one side of the Passage Entrance and ignoring each other.
Xunuo slowed his speed as much as possible and carefully slid between them. Suddenly, sensing something, the Purple Flame Python raised part of its body and extended its long tongue. Xunuo felt a chill run down his spine as cold sweat broke out.
Seeing this, the Rift Boar stood up abruptly and let out a howl at the Purple Flame Python, spewing forth clouds of black smoke from its mouth. The Purple Flame Python ceased its search and turned its head towards the Rift Boar, hissing menacingly.
Noticing that these two beasts seemed to harbor some resentment towards each other and were now threatening one another, Xunuo seized the opportunity to slip into the passage. Without having to resort to several of his techniques, he easily escaped from the demon territory. Naturally elated, Xunuo quickly passed through the passage and entered human territory.
Xunuo retracted all his Divine Sense; at least from what he could see, there were no ambushes at the Passage Entrance. However, he believed that as long as that Red-Robed Elder did not specifically come to lie in wait, no other cultivator could possibly arrive before him in terms of speed.
Xunuo emerged from the passage and slowly made his way towards the outskirts of the Ten Thousand Great Mountains. It took two hours before he sensed a fleeting presence of Divine Sense passing over him. Xunuo knew that this was certainly the Insect Path beginning to spread its net in search of him. However, such aimless searching posed little threat to him. As long as it wasn't a targeted pursuit, Xunuo had the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman and Defensive Array at his disposal, making it impossible for them to locate him.
After nearly a day of stealthy movement, as the effectiveness of the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman began to wane, Xunuo found a hollow area to set up a Defensive Array and quietly restored his mana. He continued to move slowly until the talisman's effects completely faded.
Xunuo's method of concealment was painfully slow; it took him a month to finally exit the Ten Thousand Great Mountains. Yet, he still dared not use his flying artifact and continued to rely on stealth to distance himself from the Insect Path's lair. Gradually, his speed while hidden began to improve.
Months later, Xunuo finally put away the Great Illusion Concealment Talisman and summoned the Against the Wind Boat to race forward. He was now far from the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, and even with a Tracking Disk, it would be impossible for them to trace his whereabouts. Xunuo felt a sense of rebirth and exhilaration.
Several months later, atop a snow-covered peak of a high mountain, Xunuo descended in a beam of light towards several Cultivators engaged in discussion.
The group of Cultivators varied greatly in age, from elderly men with white beards to young individuals barely out of their teens. However, their cultivation levels were similar, all at the seventh or eighth layer of Foundation Stage. Their attire also differed significantly, indicating they were all Loose Cultivators.
As soon as they noticed Xunuo approaching, they attempted to probe his realm with their Divine Sense but were unable to discern his cultivation level. This made them somewhat nervous as they stood up.
Xunuo clasped his hands together and said, "I happened to pass by here and saw several fellow practitioners discussing profound matters. I thought I would come over to make your acquaintance; I hope you won't take offense."
Seeing that Xunuo was amiable and recognizing that conversing with a Cultivator of higher realm could only benefit them, the Loose Cultivators warmly offered him a seat, and they began exchanging insights on their cultivation experiences.
Given that Xunuo was slightly more advanced in cultivation than these individuals, their discussion proved fruitful for everyone involved. Afterward, Xunuo inquired about recent developments in the cultivation world and the surrounding environment before they eventually parted ways.
After trading a medicinal herb for a jade slip containing a map of the area, Xunuo flew off in one direction. Days later, he landed on a mountain that was not particularly tall but exceptionally steep. With a flick of his wrist, he set up a formation and opened a cave within the mountain wall. Moments later, Xunuo sat cross-legged inside this newly established cave.
From what Xunuo gathered, there were no permanent Cultivators residing within hundreds of miles of this location. He was now far removed from the Ten Thousand Great Mountains and even situated on the outskirts of the Eighteen Nations surrounding it. In fact, he was closer to the flourishing Divine Wood Nation and Southern Valley Nation within the cultivation world.
Xunuo was also tired of running and decided to take a break here to plan the next steps. During nearly a year of fleeing, Xunuo had not had the heart to sort through the spoils of war. Especially the Heavenly Shadow Spike, which had long captured Xunuo's interest, had been left untouched.
Xunuo first took out the Heavenly Shadow Spike and admired it for a while, feeling quite pleased. However, a sudden wave of disappointment washed over Xunuo. It turned out that this Heavenly Shadow Spike had been used in a Blood Sacrifice. Xunuo had no way to erase the Blood Sacrifice Mark on it. As long as the original owner was still alive, Xunuo would be unable to use the Heavenly Shadow Spike. Only by advancing to the Foundation Establishment Stage could there be a possibility of forcibly erasing the Blood Sacrifice Mark.
After several attempts to remove the Blood Sacrifice Mark from the Heavenly Shadow Spike without success, Xunuo stared blankly at it for a while. Ultimately, Xunuo placed several Talismans on it to seal it away and tossed it into the storage bag.
Next, Xunuo opened the recently acquired storage bag and carefully counted its contents. Along with the two magical artifacts obtained from slaying two Cultivators from the Insect Path, Xunuo had acquired two items. Of course, this included the unusable Heavenly Shadow Spike. There were also more than ten pills that could enhance cultivation, over a hundred spirit stones, and various Talismans.
What intrigued Xunuo the most were several jade slips that recorded spells from the Insect Path. Some of these slips detailed techniques for breeding insects and using them in sorcery, while others recorded several powerful spells.
Xunuo was fascinated by the insect-breeding techniques of the Insect Path but lacked the appetite to try them out. An Insect Manipulation Cultivator would typically choose a type of insect to cultivate in their Dantian upon entry into this path. The advantage of this approach was that it expanded the Dantian with insects as helpers.
Thus, Cultivators from the Insect Path experienced much faster cultivation speeds in their early stages compared to ordinary Cultivators. However, this advantage faded once they reached above the fifth layer of Foundation Stage, returning them to normalcy.
