As the Three Forces sighed in unison, their eyes were fixed on Lin Jianfeng and the storage bag that had fallen to the ground. A storage bag belonging to a Foundation Stage Cultivator was not something easily obtained. Dozens of Cultivators, caught in the explosion at Dan Lei Valley, were left tattered, some bleeding profusely from unexpected injuries. The scene resembled a pack of rabid dogs eyeing a bone.
In the current situation, no one dared to make the first move to retrieve the storage bag. Yet, no one was willing to give up either, and the atmosphere fell into an eerie silence.
Suddenly, Xi Dao Jing raised a hand, revealing a Sound Transmission Talisman. Upon glancing at it, his expression changed dramatically. He immediately released a ship-shaped Flying Artifact. With a whistle, seven members of the Heavenly Dragon Society jumped onto the artifact. The ship hummed as it sped away toward the outskirts of Chaotic Valley.
Seeing this, Ruan Jingtian and Qin Xiaotian sprang into action, unleashing their Divine Sense. After a moment of exchanging puzzled glances, they shook their heads in silence. Qin Xiaotian's gaze returned to the storage bag while Ruan Jingtian's eyes darted around before he summoned his own Flying Artifact. With another whistle, he led the Crimson Flame Hall members in a different direction.
This prompted Qin Xiaotian to lose his composure as well. Grabbing the storage bag, he instructed his subordinates to send out Sound Transmission Talismans to inquire about the situation at various checkpoints along their route.
A Black Dragon Society Cultivator sent out three Sound Transmission Talismans in quick succession and replied with a grave expression: "No response."
However, moments later, a massive Divine Sense descended upon them, locking onto these Cultivators. Qin Xiaotian shouted sharply: "Split up and run!" In an instant, more than ten beams of escaping light scattered in all directions.
Xunuo emerged from the passage into a smaller Herb Garden. Upon seeing that the herbs were exceptionally rare or of very high age, he realized this place must be significant. Sure enough, on one side of a mountain wall appeared a sizable Cave.
Xunuo approached and found that although the Cave was large, it was extremely transparent and unobstructed. There was no one inside; in the center lay several Meditation Cushions on the ground. Along one wall stood a bookshelf filled with several Beast Skin Books and some assorted artifacts.
A dusty boat-shaped artifact caught Xunuo's eye first. He picked it up and confirmed it was indeed an Against the Wind Boat. However, it was clearly not recently crafted; it must have been the first Against the Wind Boat made by the Cao Family. When Xunuo probed with his Divine Sense, he discovered that it had never been refined before. Overjoyed, he quickly infused his Divine Sense into it for refinement.
After a moment, Xunuo noticed there was also an unrefined formation set on the bookshelf and collected that as well. As for the Beast Skin Books, he didn't have time to examine them closely but felt they should be advanced Cultivation Methods and stored them in his own storage bag.
Xunuo dared not delay any longer and retraced the path back out of the Three Sacred Mountains. He released the Against the Wind Boat and flew in the opposite direction of Lin Jianfeng's ambush.
The Against the Wind Boat was incredibly fast, but it lacked defensive capabilities. If he encountered a Crimson Fire Ant Swarm, it would be extremely dangerous. Therefore, after entering the Copper Sand Sea, Xunuo placed a Condensation Pearl atop the Against the Wind Boat. He cut through the waves with great exhilaration.
For a long time, Xunuo had yearned to leave this chaotic place and regain his freedom. Successfully escaping this time lifted the gloom that had settled in his heart.
After flying for nearly a day, however, Xunuo began to feel uneasy. The Against the Wind Boat was merely a small Flying Artifact and had no real defense. Its pursuit of speed came at an astonishing cost in spirit stones. The boat had nine slots for embedding spirit stones. When all nine slots were filled, it could achieve its maximum speed. However, these spirit stones consumed energy rapidly, requiring constant replacement with new ones. In less than a day, Xunuo had used up nearly fifty spirit stones.
While he felt pained by this loss, he also realized that his stock of spirit stones was insufficient to sustain the Against the Wind Boat at this speed for long enough to escape the Copper Sand Sea.
After fleeing for nearly a day, Xunuo believed he should have left the most dangerous area behind. Even a Foundation Stage Cultivator would not be able to detect his presence. He slowed down and adopted a more economical flying method.
The advantage of a Flying Artifact was that it could carry a Cultivator without needing mana infusion, allowing Foundation Stage Cultivators to compete with those at higher levels. However, only those with sufficiently powerful mana could drive the Flying Artifact without relying on spirit stones.
Naturally, Xunuo did not possess such mana to control the Against the Wind Boat. However, he could reduce the number of embedded spirit stones and replace some of their energy with his own mana while no longer pursuing maximum speed.
Thus, Xunuo gradually removed the spirit stones one by one. In the end, he kept only two at the bow of the boat while replacing the rest of their energy with his mana. This was the limit of what his mana could achieve. Of course, at this point, the speed of the Against the Wind Boat had significantly decreased, comparable to that of an ordinary Flying Artifact.
However, in this environment rich in Fire Elemental Energy, Xunuo's mana recovered quickly. He placed his hands against both sides of the Against the Wind Boat—one side urging it forward while simultaneously recovering his mana; this arrangement worked out reasonably well. At this moment, the Against the Wind Boat resembled a hybrid-powered vessel.
After flying for two days like this, Xunuo finally found himself drained of mana. He had no choice but to land the Against the Wind Boat on the Copper Sand Sea to recover his mana. By now, Xunuo felt considerably more relaxed and even began planning his next steps.
Recovering mana was a slow process. On the second day of meditating, Xunuo suddenly became restless. This inexplicable feeling often carried a warning element—something he had experienced before.
Xunuo furrowed his brows and leaped up, releasing the Against the Wind Boat. He continued to fly towards the outskirts of the Copper Sand Sea. Moments later, Xunuo raised one hand and grabbed a Sound Transmission Talisman. After glancing at it, his expression changed drastically as he turned his head towards one side of the Against the Wind Boat. Then, several spirit stones appeared in Xunuo's hand and quickly embedded themselves into the Against the Wind Boat. The boat trembled and suddenly accelerated, shooting towards the sky like lightning.
Right beside Xunuo, an almost identical Flying Artifact appeared, closely pursuing him.
Xunuo sat upright on the Against the Wind Boat, frowning as he looked at the Sound Transmission Talisman in his hand. This talisman had been sent by Qin Xiaotian. It seemed he was in a dire situation; the message on the Sound Transmission Talisman was brief, simply asking Xunuo for some spirit stones. Shortly after, another Sound Transmission Talisman appeared in Xunuo's hand. This one was also from Qin Xiaotian, and its contents were more detailed, asking Xunuo to wait a moment as there would be great benefits shared with him.
Xunuo let out a cold laugh and took out a Sound Transmission Talisman. He simply said, "If you do not leave, I will strike," before waving his hand to send it out.
When Qin Xiaotian received Xunuo's Sound Transmission Talisman, his face twisted in anger as he cursed repeatedly.
It turned out that Qin Xiaotian and his companions had noticed another Foundation Establishment Stage Valley Master approaching and scattered to flee. They all chose to circle around the Copper Sand Sea, as no one dared to fly directly out of it.
