The activity involved different materials for each refinement. This time, the material being refined was Blazing Sun Grass. Xunuo had seen it before and later learned about its medicinal properties. Although this herb was rare, it was not particularly useful on its own. Generally, it served as an auxiliary material for elixirs.
However, Blazing Sun Grass had a unique characteristic: it had very few Substitute Materials. This meant that if a Formula included Blazing Sun Grass as an ingredient, omitting it would be like missing the main medicinal component, making it difficult to produce the elixir. Fortunately, the environment of Copper Sand Sea was very suitable for the growth of Blazing Sun Grass. Therefore, obtaining Blazing Sun Grass in Chaotic Valley was not a difficult task.
The challenge lay in the fact that Crimson Fire Ants also favored the scent of Blazing Sun Grass. They often built their nests in areas where the grass thrived. As a result, the venom of the Crimson Fire Ants would seep into the Blazing Sun Grass, rendering it toxic.
This refinement activity required extracting the Crimson Fire Ant Venom from within the Blazing Sun Grass. The goal was to purify the medicinal properties of the Blazing Sun Grass, with the results personally verified by the Valley Master. Those who successfully refined it would bypass the trial phase and directly enter this year's official Alchemy list. However, Xunuo and two others who had successfully produced elixirs last year had already secured their official Alchemy slots. If they produced an elixir this year, they would be exempt from paying five elixirs to the valley.
This temptation was significant for all Alchemists present. Suddenly, dozens of them were eager to participate.
For this refinement process, neither Poison Fire from Crimson Fire Ants nor Earth Fire could be used. Instead, they needed support from Three Forces' High-Level Practitioners using the Red Flame Technique, a Fire Attribute Spell.
The Red Flame Technique was powerful and stable enough for Alchemy purposes. However, it consumed an astonishing amount of magical energy. Xunuo believed that his own magical energy would not be sufficient to support the refinement of Blazing Sun Grass.
Upon hearing that Three Forces' Cultivators were there merely to provide flames, Xunuo felt somewhat astonished and looked at Xi Dao Jing with confusion.
Xi Dao Jing remained calm and smiled, saying, "I will provide firepower to assist Xue Dao You."
Xunuo hurriedly thanked him with a bow and then looked up at the Valley Master seated above him, who was also smiling back at him.
At that moment, the Valley Master Envoy finished explaining and began assigning Alchemical Platforms. The Cultivators providing flame support volunteered to form groups.
As soon as the Valley Master spoke, Xunuo recognized him as the one who had communicated with him before. Despite the man's friendly demeanor, an indescribable fear suddenly weighed heavily on Xunuo's heart.

Removing the Crimson Fire Ant Venom from the Blazing Sun Grass was akin to extracting its medicinal properties. It required purifying the Blazing Sun Grass by eliminating all impurities. By doing so, he would also expel the Crimson Fire Ant Venom. However, there was a slight difference; while other impurities could be removed without much consequence, failing to eliminate the Crimson Fire Ant Venom would result in a Poison Dan.
Upon observation, Xunuo discovered that although the Crimson Fire Ant Venom was tightly integrated within the Blazing Sun Grass, it was indeed the most significant component by weight. He decided to take a different approach: to expel all medicinal properties and impurities in order to refine and purify the Crimson Fire Ant Venom.
Under high temperatures in the Alchemical Cauldron, the Blazing Sun Grass quickly turned into a paste after several tremors. Xunuo slowly rotated this paste within the cauldron, gradually flinging the lighter components outward. After carefully discerning with his Divine Sense, he discarded these absolutely non-toxic impurities into a Porcelain Bottle. This process was extremely slow but ensured stability.
An hour later, only a copper-colored paste remained in Xunuo's Alchemical Cauldron. The primary component was indeed the Crimson Fire Ant Venom, though there were still trace amounts of other components that Xunuo could not separate in such a short time.
However, one thing Xunuo was certain of was that all of the Crimson Fire Ant Venom contained within this Blazing Sun Grass was present here. The expelled Solar Herb properties and impurities contained no toxicity. While it was incredibly challenging to purify the Blazing Sun Grass without any impurities, roughly refining the Crimson Fire Ant Venom was not too difficult for Xunuo.
He extracted this paste, primarily composed of Crimson Fire Ant Venom, from the Alchemical Cauldron and then placed that bottle containing a mixture of Solar Herb properties and impurities back into the furnace.
The next step of purifying Solar Herb properties became much simpler. Without any Crimson Fire Ant Venom mixed in, there were far fewer concerns. In just a meal's time, Xunuo successfully completed the purification.
The Valley Master Envoy presented Xunuo's purified medicinal properties to the Elder with Long Beard. The Valley Master carefully examined the Blazing Sun Grass that Xunuo had refined.
Because Xunuo was the first to finish. The Valley Master had plenty of time for evaluation, so he examined everything with great care. After a moment, Longbeard Valley Master smiled and nodded, saying, "Alchemist Xu does not disappoint me. It seems last year's success in refining pills was not a coincidence. Having Alchemist Xu is indeed a blessing for Chaotic Valley."
Xunuo quickly thought and cautiously replied, "Thank you for your kind words, Valley Master. I hope to meet your expectations."
Longbeard Valley Master smiled and remained silent.
After a while, more Alchemists began to successfully purify their materials. However, these Alchemists all took the route of purifying Solar Herb. This meant they had to purify several times to achieve the goal of eliminating the Crimson Fire Ant Venom. Moreover, this goal became increasingly difficult to accomplish as time went on. They even had to sacrifice a significant amount of Solar Herb due to the slightest trace of Crimson Fire Ant Venom. As the selections continued, Longbeard Valley Master still appeared amiable but could no longer nod at everyone. In the end, thirteen Alchemists successfully purified their materials and received recognition from Longbeard Valley Master.
The Valley Master Envoy announced the list of award winners and this year's official Alchemy quota recipients. Xunuo and another Alchemist were rewarded with the exemption from paying five Unity Pills for their successful pill refinement.
Once the envoy finished reading the list of rewards, Longbeard Valley Master waved his sleeve at Xi Dao Jing and others, saying, "You may leave now." The Three Forces Cultivators exited in an orderly manner after offering their respects.
Longbeard Valley Master then smiled at the Alchemists who had not passed their purification tests, saying, "Though you did not succeed this time, there will be opportunities in the future. I won't let you leave empty-handed; I have prepared some materials for Alchemy crafting here. Each of you may choose one item to take back and prepare for this year's Trial Dan Conference."
The envoy below brought out a long wooden table covered with silver plates, each topped with a Silk Handkerchief.
